Well that really doesn't make sense to me. If your enemy loves you, and you love your enemy, you really don't have a enemy do you? But we do have enemies because not everyone follows the Bible or its teachings and not even christians. Yes we all know what love is, but its immoral to command love? Well, love is not a feeling, its a act. Therefor, since we all have choice, we can choose to act on love anytime we wish. Therefor its not a impossible command that we cannot do, we just never "feel" like doing it except to those we like. I think that you may be confusing that message. By love, I think he just means that you should be kind to them as you would your allies, that way, your enemies wouldn't be, well, enemies. He's not forcing you to love them, he's saying that if you are kidn to oneanother you can come to love them of your own will, not out of fear of Hell. A guy and a guy cannot produce life nor can a woman to woman. Please don't bring up the sperm donation thingy, as a few hundred years back, i'm sure this wasn't possible. If you think about it, if every guy went gay and every girl went gay, then within less than a 100 years the human race would be extinct. Thats why I don't really see it as a justified but more of a selfish act. I have alot of friends who are gay and when they finally get out of that stage, they tell me they was so miserable living that way, but now they are happy being with a guy/girl. ~Defender~ I'm not saying it's natural or not. As for me, I'm christian and I believe the Bible word for word. Because personally, if I believe God is real, then he did write the Bible. So when I get to heaven, I can't say "well i only believed 'parts' of what you wrote". Doesn't make sense. You go all the way or don't go at all, lol. If you think about it though, I would say the best christians are christian extreemists who go for the bible word for word. That's not true at all, I have far more respect for moderate or liberal Christians because it's evident that they've probably at least studied the Bible someway. If you had, you would realise the glaring contradictions, inaccuracies and absurdities mean it is obviously a work of fiction, although liberal Christians would say inspired by God. You're also hypocritical, you said you desire to know the truth, but by accepting the Bible as the literal word of God that's impossible. I really can't be a hypocrite on that because neither I or you know the truth? What if Gods word 100% is the truth? Then I can't be a hypocrite can I? Only if you believe like you do, that its contradicting, then you could call me a hypocrite. So I see where your comming from, but I disagree because no one knows what the truth is. I have read some "contradictions" that people say about the bible. Usually its a mis-type, or a misunderstanding. I want a contradiction on the bible that is ATLEAST 2 or 3 paragraphs. Most contradictions are only sentences. I found alot of stuff where I could say the bible is contradicting itself if I use only a setence or two. However, when you zoom out, read the whole paragraph or chapter, you understand the whole story, not just a part of it, and realize it was never contradicting at all. ~Defender~ 'What is truth?' is a deep question, but I believe in empirical and deductive evidence. That kind of evidence goes against most of the miracles in the Bible, and points towards a worldview which is far richer and more interesting than anything humans ever dreamt up thousands of years ago when they were writing the Bible. Humans are not "designed" to love one other as themselves, to do so is a rare achievement, it cannot be done universally (any intelligent designer would realise this by looking at his own plans), so urging humans to be all loving superhumans on pain of hell and torture is cruel and sadistic. You can choose to be altruistic and loving, but you cannot be compelled into it. (On a side note, your notion that we don't have enemies because we don't all follow the Bible is ridiculous, the OT is the most bloodthirsty book out there). I believe no one is born and cannot help being gay. I believe we all have a choice in the matter. For example.. I'm straight, but that doesn't mean I do not have a choice in what type of girl I want. Now for a gay guy, does he not have a choice in which guy he would want to be with? If he can make a choice on what type of guy he loves, he can make a choice not to be gay. Don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying that he won't have feelings of attraction, but I am saying he can choose not to be gay. And anyone who defines that attraction as "love" has missed it. Cute boys or girls doesn't make your life happy. Only when that other person loves you back. Can a guy love a guy? I don't believe they can love each other like a guy and a girl could love each other. Because by the Bible, God is Love, and homosexually is a sin. So therefor, if a guy loved a guy as a guy can love a girl, then God is Sin. Which would be illogical. Thats why I believe my friends say they was "miserable" when they was gay. I'm glad their out of that relationship though. Also, alot of people take attraction as "lust".. so if a gay guy has attractions to another guy, and call it "love", wouldn't it really just be lust? Love is not a feeling, its a act and always will be. Because no matter who you are with, after years time, that feeling you had the very first time will fade away. Thats not a contradiction, I actually looked into that one before. Notice how the fish was not created in Genesis 2:18-19. Why is that? Fish surely probably was not jumping up on the shore, flipping towards adam, saying "name me! name me!". As humans we tend to just assume things. We assume that the Garden of Eden was created when God created the earth. Actually thats not true. If you read the paragraphs after God created the animals, it will go on to how it says God created the Garden of Eden. Now think about it, since the Garden of Eden does not exist yet, but animals do, then most likely the animals are not hanging around the desert. So, after God created the Garden of Eden, no animals were living in it. Then he made man, then he put some animals in there so he won't get lonely, and then a woman. Defender, basic psychology tells us that sexuality and sexual preference is no where near as simple as just choosing. Obviously we can choose but you're making it sound as if it's easy in order to rationalise what the bible says because you believe it. Don't do that because your just kidding yourself. Edit: Let's give this an anectodal touch. Explain to me why an evangelical such as Ted Haggard would piss his career and faith up against the wall and 'choose' to engage in homosexual activity. But then I realised how many times I've typed things like that before, and how many times the threads have just collapsed into a fundamentalist/atheist war with both attempting to impose their views on each other, with any middle ground just being ignored. It's nothing personal, I don't have anything against individual Christians at all, I just enjoy debating fundamentalist ones. I don't see the point in addressing a middle ground post because often it just supports my stance against the fundamentalist.
