I saw it as well, although that Keith guy wasn't the greatest theologian or debater, or credible atheist to stand up against them it was still interesting to watch the arguments they had. It would have been better if it was someone like Dawkins who went there though, the debates would have been a lot better.

Basically, no matter what religion you believe in, you can't believe in them all. So, the chances of your God being the right one are vanishingly small. Also, since your God is the omniscient type, he'll be able to see through your cowardly hedge-betting.

It wasn't a personal attack per-se, I didn't really think anyone was exactly following that reasoning to believe in a god, but that doesn't change the fact that I do regard hedging your bets on a god to get into heaven as cowardly, and the god would see through it. That was more the point. I could interchange "your" with "the" but it doesn't read as well.

One thing we do all agree on though, and that is wanting and desiring to know the truth of us and the universe.

 

 

 

As for me, I'm christian and I believe the Bible word for word. Because personally, if I believe God is real, then he did write the Bible. So when I get to heaven, I can't say "well i only believed 'parts' of what you wrote". Doesn't make sense. You go all the way or don't go at all, lol.

 

 

 

If you think about it though, I would say the best christians are christian extreemists who go for the bible word for word.

Posts like the ones above are the posts that ALWAYS get religious debates locked. Every thread, it's the same freaking thing: The Athiests get together and talk about how they hate Christians, "Oh they're hypocrites, they're idiots, they're monkeys" etc. Come on. This stuff isn't true. You take on person and apply it to all of us, which is stereotyping, wether you believe so or not.

 

 

 

In the end the basic message of the Bible is the same as what we learn in school, home, and life itself: "Be nice, be good, treat others how you wish to be treated, etc." People are twisting and warping parts of the Bible to where it's nothing close to the original message. Quit it.

A guy and a guy cannot produce life nor can a woman to woman. Please don't bring up the sperm donation thingy, as a few hundred years back, i'm sure this wasn't possible.

 

 

 

If you think about it, if every guy went gay and every girl went gay, then within less than a 100 years the human race would be extinct.

 

 

 

Thats why I don't really see it as a justified but more of a selfish act. I have alot of friends who are gay and when they finally get out of that stage, they tell me they was so miserable living that way, but now they are happy being with a guy/girl.

That's not true at all, I have far more respect for moderate or liberal Christians because it's evident that they've probably at least studied the Bible someway. If you had, you would realise the glaring contradictions, inaccuracies and absurdities mean it is obviously a work of fiction, although liberal Christians would say inspired by God.

How dare you even suggest that homosexuals are unhappy and deluding themselves, and would be better off with someone of the opposite sex. That's extremely ignorant of you to all the very happy homosexuals out there, who are (from what i've seen) often a lot happier than God-fearing heterosexuals out there.

I really can't be a hypocrite on that because neither I or you know the truth? What if Gods word 100% is the truth? Then I can't be a hypocrite can I? Only if you believe like you do, that its contradicting, then you could call me a hypocrite. So I see where your comming from, but I disagree because no one knows what the truth is.

 

 

 

I have read some "contradictions" that people say about the bible. Usually its a mis-type, or a misunderstanding.

 

 

 

I want a contradiction on the bible that is ATLEAST 2 or 3 paragraphs. Most contradictions are only sentences. I found alot of stuff where I could say the bible is contradicting itself if I use only a setence or two. However, when you zoom out, read the whole paragraph or chapter, you understand the whole story, not just a part of it, and realize it was never contradicting at all.
