I think the main problem was that they made it Ftp. Once all the non members see they can vote in a poll they jump to it. Now all of you know that more than 50% Ftpers do not know the specs of their computers. If they icreased the screen size i think i would be so happy i would buy a new computer. This ones kinda slow :XD:

I was about to create a topic on this very issue with a twist. However seeing this I will add to it and freely give my input.

 

 

 

 

 

It really is not that hard to check what the specs of your computer is. Simply right click on "my computer" and select "properties" the tab that is currently selected, should tell you the specs for your computer (NOT monitor).

 

 

 

For the monitor resolution right click on your desktop select "properties" and go to the "settings" tab. Find the resolution (eg; 640x480) and find out what the highest setting it can support.

 

 

 

As for the ratio, I am not entirely sure. Other than by looks, if it looks normal then it is 4:3. If it looks wide screen then it's 14:9. If it looks alien then it's "I don't know".

 

 

 

I do realize that there are more than the way I provided to check the settings.

 

 

 

 

 

From the data I have seen thus far I can conclude that a majority of RuneScape players simply "do not know".

i own a dell, its like 2-3+ years old i dont really remember honestly, i have 512MB of ram, its not tons, but its reasonable for a older dell deal computer, and well honestly dells now come standard with 512 MB of ram and getting 1gig costs a bit(i think like $100-200 upgrade) and 2gigs of ram, is just hard/expensive to get with cheap computers.

 

 

 

anyway, i did not answer 1 question correctly, i answered the gigahertz 1 wrong i thought mine was like 600some GHz but that was my old computer..

It's sad that people don't know where to find the answres. For aspect you can a) look at you moniter, it's not hard to tell by eye, B) use a ruler.

For internet connection. Broadband is everything but dial up(at least in this case because there is no 'other'). So look at the back of your computer and see which slot the internet cable is in. If its the small one that is identicle to a phone jack, chances are you have dial up. If its in the bigger slot, you have broadband.

 

 

 

 

 

So peopel are either lazy or stupid, I think alot of people are both. The memory question proboly got alot of wrong answers because people though memory meand hard drive.

well, ipod nanos are at least 2gigs infact i think the latest generation are at least 4gig(not 100% on that) but hell, 2gigs is nothing, i can goto walmart and buy a 2gig flash drive for like $25(flash drive = small version of a floppy disk but in a stick form).

 

 

 

infact if anyone owns an Ipod, its at least 5gigs upto 30-80gigs.

 

 

 

im certain that people most likely figured that they had over 2gigs of free memory left, or knew they had like 30-100+gigs of memory on their computer and figured ill answer over 2+gigs, some also might have been like i have a this and this video card.

Do you think this poll was a failure for JaGeX? Not at all. This just proves how stupid people are on Runescape. Also, is it that hard to ask your dad or mom or brother/sister about all of those? No. It wasn't a failure at all, this also shows how many little kiddies play Runescape.

What updates do you think this will pertain to? Graphic updates most likely, and udpates to servers to fix speed and lag problems. Also, how much more they can add in without problems, new game interfaces, and as I said, graphic updates, to see who would have a problem with an even better graphic update. That's what I think.

I'm not sure that a T1 or even better a T3 connection counts as broad band, but I think it does. If I had a T3 connection I would be so happy....

You won't necessarily find your monitor's resolution in desktop properties. In certain situations, sometimes your monitior can support a higher resolution than your video card can, and thus the resolution of your monitor won't appear on the desktop properties. Other situations, such as multiple monitor support, can also cause HIGHER resolutions to be shown than what your monitor actually is.

 

 

 

As far as memory and processor is concerned: right click "My Computer" and choose "Properties", you can find both there.

 

 

 

Aspect ratio...not sure what to say about this. If you have two eyes you can tell if your monitor is widescreen or normal screen. Same goes for internet connection.

 

 

 

Also, does anyone else find the memory and processor speed to be really disproportional? Only 22% of RS has 2+ GHz, but 37% has over 1 GB of RAM? I have 3.2 Ghz with hyperthreading and all I have is 1 GB of RAM. Building a new computer right now and it is having a 2.2 Core2-duo with JUST 2 GB of RAM...I find it hard to believe that so many people have more than 2 gigs of RAM with so few people having such slow processors. I'm pretty sure tons of people confused hard disk space with memory.

I think you will see less people actually voting in this poll, including me. I logged in to vote and when I saw the questions, I logged out. People will not vote in this thread for several reasons. Exactly, and with a little clicking, you can find most of your specs quite quickly. My laptop isn't custom built and I had no problems answering all the questions.

 

 

 

Just for the reference, 1.4ghz Celeron M with 780M ram. Bit weak, but it gets the job done.

 

 

 

The "I don't know" is a silly option. Only vote if you know what your talking about. They shouldn't of put that in.

It's not hard to go to your control panel and look at your basic specs, Jagex should've given instructions I guess. Funny thing is, I bet nowhere near as many have 2GB of Ram like the poll says, they probably think it's HDD space :wall:
