Made0f12une
Tbh, I think it was like going up to a little kid and asking them what kind of diapers they wear or car their parents drive. [hide=This says it all, though]What resolution is your monitor? I don't know 41% (10290 votes) How fast is your computer? I don't know 40% (10008 votes) How much memory does your computer have? Macmaster92
I think the main problem was that they made it Ftp. Once all the non members see they can vote in a poll they jump to it. Now all of you know that more than 50% Ftpers do not know the specs of their computers. If they icreased the screen size i think i would be so happy i would buy a new computer. This ones kinda slow :XD: Bet yes i was able to vote in the poll very easily and i did not think it was a bad idea on Jagex part.
Midala87
I was about to create a topic on this very issue with a twist. However seeing this I will add to it and freely give my input. It really is not that hard to check what the specs of your computer is. Simply right click on "my computer" and select "properties" the tab that is currently selected, should tell you the specs for your computer (NOT monitor). For the monitor resolution right click on your desktop select "properties" and go to the "settings" tab. Find the resolution (eg; 640x480) and find out what the highest setting it can support. As for the ratio, I am not entirely sure. Other than by looks, if it looks normal then it is 4:3. If it looks wide screen then it's 14:9. If it looks alien then it's "I don't know". I do realize that there are more than the way I provided to check the settings. From the data I have seen thus far I can conclude that a majority of RuneScape players simply "do not know". There's an option in the poll results that allows you to filter out the free-players. The members portion of the poll still answered I don't know in majority, for the same questions as the entire userbase. :-k [etc.]
Moonshadow
Do you think this poll was a failure for JaGeX? No, it shows that the majority of runescape has no clue what they are doing. Were you able to correctly answer the questions? Every single one of them. Well, I had to look up some of the things in the system because I don't know my computer's specs off the top of my head. What updates do you think this will pertain to? None. I think Jagex was just curious if they were dealing with sentient beings or mindless blobs of jelly that argue and whine. I think the figured out what they were dealing with.
Skill_Caster
Do you think this poll was a failure for JaGeX? Not really, it just goes to show how many people don't know much about there computers. I mean, in 'How much RAM does your PC have', other than 'I Don't Know', the top one was 2GB or above  Were you able to correctly answer the questions? I can happily say I answered every single one correct, without checking : What updates do you think this will pertain to? Well, considering what they said after I voted, 'it will be useful to all kinds of our departments'.
gspbeetle
yea.... people should learn more about their computer... not just asking their friends/technicians about how to switch it on and install games.... like above have said those question aint hard at all... i am even surprise that SOME (just some... er no, just handful of..uh...uh.... i mean the minority...) tip.iter voted "i dont know".... come on... over 2GB rams? (anyway, i do have 4gb ddr2 553 rams in dual channel, most of them might be telling the truth... just not very likely...) how many mhz your computer is... (although, jagex made a mistake here as well, that is just the clock rate, not really how fast your computer really is) thats like the main factor of why your computer worth that much $$$! but anyway, good to know that, people actually know that they are not using dial up :? edit: off... i mean on topic... why there is no graphic card? because it doesnt really matter that much... it renders little gpu anyway Examine ChenGMT (level: 138)
jessy87
Question 5 How much memory does your computer have? I don't know 32% (10240 votes) Over 2GB 26% (8245 votes) 513MB - 1GB 12% (3788 votes) 1.1GB - 2GB 11% (3510 votes) 257MB - 512MB 10% (3256 votes) 129MB - 256MB 5% (1668 votes) 128MB or less 3% (807 votes) thats the current results for the question that seems to be a troublesome 1. because jagex said, memory and not RAM(random access memory) people may have been confused, because i honestly dont think they would ask the amount of free memory left on your computer. i own a dell, its like 2-3+ years old i dont really remember honestly, i have 512MB of ram, its not tons, but its reasonable for a older dell deal computer, and well honestly dells now come standard with 512 MB of ram and getting 1gig costs a bit(i think like $100-200 upgrade) and 2gigs of ram, is just hard/expensive to get with cheap computers. anyway, i did not answer 1 question correctly, i answered the gigahertz 1 wrong i thought mine was like 600some GHz but that was my old computer.. Randox
It's sad that people don't know where to find the answres. For aspect you can a) look at you moniter, it's not hard to tell by eye, B) use a ruler. Resolution: right click your desktop, properties, than the settings tab. It says rigth there, not rocket science. How old is your computer: Figure out what grade you got your computer in, than start counting the years. Wow that is difficult. How fast: Oh boy, we have to go to the control pannel for this one *cowers behind chair*. Than go to system and read the procesor speed thats listed on the defult tab. Memory: Ok, some people might think at first this means hard drive, but than you look at the options and realise that anything under 2 gigs of hard drive is an ancient piece of crap and hasent been made in a decade. You should also notice that there is memory listed right under you computer speed when you looked that up, hmmm...maby thats what they ment. For internet connection. Broadband is everything but dial up(at least in this case because there is no 'other'). So look at the back of your computer and see which slot the internet cable is in. If its the small one that is identicle to a phone jack, chances are you have dial up. If its in the bigger slot, you have broadband. So peopel are either lazy or stupid, I think alot of people are both. The memory question proboly got alot of wrong answers because people though memory meand hard drive. And some of that stuff is on a stickr I know, but my machene is a custom job so it has no sticker.

WolfhunterXZ
Do you think this poll was a failure for JaGeX? Not at all. This just proves how stupid people are on Runescape. Also, is it that hard to ask your dad or mom or brother/sister about all of those? No. It wasn't a failure at all, this also shows how many little kiddies play Runescape. Were you able to correctly answer the questions? Yes. What updates do you think this will pertain to? Graphic updates most likely, and udpates to servers to fix speed and lag problems. Also, how much more they can add in without problems, new game interfaces, and as I said, graphic updates, to see who would have a problem with an even better graphic update. That's what I think. gspbeetle
i am thinking of marketing update thou now jagex can tell their advertising partners, "hey, look at this poll, our customers dont know a heck about their computers, lets sell them crap stuff" but look at the bright side, the wrong answers would be runescape could be developed into an amazingly good game, too bad we would have to upgrade to like a $1000 computer or wait til 2gigs of ram is standard for a $400-700 computer. thats us dollars? unless you dont already own a ddr2 motherboard, you dont need that much money to just upgrade your ram... $400 can give you 2g ram already, if you are not a clock manic... Myweponsg00d
You won't necessarily find your monitor's resolution in desktop properties. In certain situations, sometimes your monitior can support a higher resolution than your video card can, and thus the resolution of your monitor won't appear on the desktop properties. Other situations, such as multiple monitor support, can also cause HIGHER resolutions to be shown than what your monitor actually is. As far as memory and processor is concerned: right click "My Computer" and choose "Properties", you can find both there. Aspect ratio...not sure what to say about this. If you have two eyes you can tell if your monitor is widescreen or normal screen. Same goes for internet connection. Also, does anyone else find the memory and processor speed to be really disproportional? Only 22% of RS has 2+ GHz, but 37% has over 1 GB of RAM? I have 3.2 Ghz with hyperthreading and all I have is 1 GB of RAM. Building a new computer right now and it is having a 2.2 Core2-duo with JUST 2 GB of RAM...I find it hard to believe that so many people have more than 2 gigs of RAM with so few people having such slow processors. I'm pretty sure tons of people confused hard disk space with memory. Need assistance in any of these skills? whocares
I think you will see less people actually voting in this poll, including me. I logged in to vote and when I saw the questions, I logged out. People will not vote in this thread for several reasons. For one, most people who play rs simply don't know the answers to the questions. Secondly most people don't care to answer them like me. Umega
I answered all the questions correctly. I was surprised to see that a lot of players had over 2000 MB ram, I'm stuck with a crappy computer with just 256MB ram. :( If I had 1024MB ram, I would be playing WoW. No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.

Autist
Sorry, but I can't understand how come people know nothing about their computers? Who bought it for them? They just picked a random computer from the shop? "I don't care which one, just hand it over dude"? I bought my computer by dictating all the parts by myself... I am pretty sure the poll is VERY inaccurate, as many people just chose the option which seemed best...
weasel
Do you think this poll was a failure for JaGeX? yes, on nearly every answer the top answer was "i don't know". Were you able to correctly answer the questions? I was, but that is because my computer is customised and so i have a sheet stored away that has all the ins and outs of my computer on in, so i had to dig that out. What updates do you think this will pertain to? probably to adjust the recommended limitations of the high detail game, and maybe the low detail game to improve the graphics and game engine.... all that technical stuff -= weasel =- rsname: moosewalker ~ top 10000 player :Dfull qp - always willing to chat add me... My laptop isn't custom built and I had no problems answering all the questions. Just for the reference, 1.4ghz Celeron M with 780M ram. Bit weak, but it gets the job done. The "I don't know" is a silly option. Only vote if you know what your talking about. They shouldn't of put that in. Funny thing is, I bet nowhere near as many have 2GB of Ram like the poll says, they probably think it's HDD space :wall: My Blog To 87 Construction
