Matok
every month or so someone post a "i have no friends" thread. Let me re-post my answer to the last 1: Gittes picks up the phone. He winks to his boys. GITTES (continuing) Hello, Miss Sessions. I don't believe we've had the pleasure. IDA'S VOICE -- Oh yes we have... are you alone, Mr. Gittes? GITTES Isn't everybody? one of my favorite replications :D But i guess i am just a cynical old man...

Sumpta
Well, the main question is if you feel bad about having no friends in the game or not? If you're just feeling like a weirdo, don't. There are many loners in RS. There are many possible reasons for playing RS. If you feel you want to make more friends, engage in Tip.It's activities, make world 99 your homeworld or join a clan. I like participating on these boards, but I don't like chatting in the game. For one, the chat interface is way too messy and second, I rarely have worthwhile conversations anyway. I have a busy life, a job where I meet people all the time, several hobbies to share with my friends,... I cherish those moments, but I find it nice to wind down in all quietness in RS late at night. I do meet people in RS, but I kinda like those contacts to be fleeting. PS: it's your detachedness from RS that makes arguments etc seem petty. It's not a bad thing, you know, it just means you aren't absorbed by the -let's face it- fake and constructed internal logic of the RS world. It's typical of RPG's to have this internal logic and the point would be to get the players to participate in it. But in my opinion, the ones who don't get fully immersed are the sane ones. So don't let people push you into making RS the most important thing. That kind of thing happens enough as it is in RS and other RPG's *cough* world of warcraft *cough*. You're doing well! transcript80
None of my IRL friend play this game, because I'm old... \ I have some people I know that play this game, but I hardly ever chat with them. I have the occasional chat in-game, but no real "friends". I don't need them to kill the time, I enjoy playing this game and minding my own business. It's nice to have friends, to chat with occasionally. But if I want to see some nice people I go to W99. Mostly I camp in my home world (the best suitable world for me to play on) and mind my business. No offence to anyone, really! So I know the feeling. But I don't mind. If you want any friend, camp on these forums/W99 and you should meet some nice/interesting people. Other data was removed when acoount got hacked... SwreeTak
I got alot of in RS friends which I talk to very often. But I also know people like you who don't like to talk to people in the game. And I think that's understandable too. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
justin_m23
I have zero people on my friends list, and i like it that way. Most of the people i 'meet' are losers.
nickeley102
i am pleasantly surprised with the responses, i like that a lot of people play, like me, alone. I was sure people played like that but just didnt post as much I dont really want a clan, unless it was the "i just like skilling by myself clan" and this isnt a "i dont have any friends" thread this is a "im happy without rs friends" thread. I do talk to people fleetingly, but its not like im going to form any long term relationship i.e. finding my wife, let alone talking to the same person twice. I started sheild of arrav before i knew about the forums and i didnt know what i was supposed to do, noone, like now, was on my friends list and i was confused lol. anonymouse_
I don't have many 'real' friends on RS; most end up asking for free stuff #-o
Harrington
It took me a long time to get into the community side of the game. What Stopped Me? Two things really... 1. Ill mannered players. There's a lot of bad manners and childish behaviour that often encouraged me to play with public chat off. 2. This main reason though is that the in-game-chat system is simply awful. It's not in the least bit condusive to community gaming What Changed Me? 1. I joined a Clan. The clan is now more of a group of friends, but it gives me people to compete against, and allows me to participate in stuff that usually requires trust such as monster hunts, pk trips etc... 2. I joined TipIt forum. There's a lot of nice people here and the wisdom guides give me lots of ideas.
Dragon_lord
If it weren't for friends, I don't think I would have played Runescape for more than a week... I nearly quit once, but then I joined a clan, and that made me stay =) Pretty much what Dragon said.Thread terminated.I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator? No Tip.Iters were harmed in the making of this post.
GrimHams
If you want to make friends you can sure as hell as me! I personally have to have someone on rs at the time if im going to play, i can't just work on my own without a conversation going at the same time. Friends for me make runescape fun, for example when a few of my friends (who are usually on rs) went on holiday i hardly played because i didnt have them to talk to ingame. Itsjustagame
all of my friends quit recently, or back in 2003-2004 when they heard about rs2. My friends list has about 5 active names on it, but I get by
Norton3000
I didn't actually have any friends (in rs) month ago, but then someone asked me to add him and since that we've talked a lot. : Retired from RuneScape for as long as possible.
nickeley102
yay, my 20th post and my first emoticon :-# I also find it annoying to have a conversation while i am playing. and am proud of my empty friends list, even more so now that i realise how people seem to think it is so ridiculous to play wothout friends/ talking
The_Dragon_Reborn
I have lots of friends on rs that I talk with, but none of them I know in real life, and I rarely let skilling get beyond a conversation. My real life friends have no idea I even play this game, let alone spend several hours at a time on it. There's nothing wrong with not having a lot of friends in a game, as long as you are comfortable in real life, you will be fine. ~~Let The Dragon ride again, on the winds of time~~I've always felt as if I'm the only person who can understand the concept of sarcasm on the internet. PastyGangsta
Im the only one left in my group of friends that 'quit'. They all say that RS is stupid but thats only because they took it too seriously and their parents made them quit... My parents dont care as long as my grades stay up. :D
