Those who wish to do the new questions can add it to their old post...or do it again if they wish, as the boxes are boxes are not up front. We all know these "implied" rules in Runescape that aren't stated by Jagex themselves. Are these actually called 'rules' or are they just guidelines put in by players to try to keep other players in line. To me, the rules are what Jagex states, not what other players say. We also all know that player killers, or so they call themselves, place a plethora of invented rules and an "honor" system on pking. No tagging. No teleporting. No protect prayers. No double eating. Basically, you can't do anything because it breaks some imaginary rule. However, how many of you follow those rules? How many of you just do as the general public does to avoid problems and arguments? Or do you do the opposite? Do you purposely break these rules because you see no point in them. You may ask, where the hell are you going with this. The thinkers in the group might already have an idea based on the title. My question is, do you say one thing, and do the other? For example, do you put down rc pkers to their faces when you pass them by in the wild? But, have you ever tried it once? Face it, most of us have. When the abyss came out, you know you parked yourself there with mage gear and tried pking rune crafters. Glories were 100k then...wasn't so bad. So, here is a list of a few I could think of where people could be hypocritical, or times you just flat out lie PLEASE DISCUSS! don't just take the survery or say "Ya Im honest sry." Real Life - Runescape Conflicts Note - this section doesn't really connect with the others, I'm just interested. have you ever... [ ] Hid the fact that you play RS from your close friends? [ ] Called someone a "no-lifer" because they played all day, but you have also played for a very long time at one point, or every day credit - Zaquier Ming [ ] Insulted someone in game with Real Life insults? (Ex. you're a fat loser) [ ] Made fun of a "computer geek" or a kid who plays video games all day with your friends, but when you go home you log on to Runescape? [ ] Lied to your friends about being busy/going out with them because you had something to do on Runescape? [ ] Been in a very bad mood all day because of what happened on Runescape? Ok Im bored of this...I'm having trouble thinking of them...so i'll add more as they come to me. If you have any good ones to add, post it, and if I like it, i'll put it up there with your name next to it. Also, please keep in mind, you dont need to give example. No one should judge anyone for what they've done. Be honest. I can honestly say I've done most of what I posted, which is where I got the ideas. I know that everyone will/should have atleast 1 box checked out. And if you don't, I honestly don't get what you're trying to prove. We all did it, just confess, and let's stop being hypocrites. I never PK, or Runecraft, have nothing to gain from stealing from my friends, i usually keep people on my friends list, and so on. But I'm not going to go out of my way and spend 50% more on buying items just to prove a point. Autoers and their makers should be destroyed, but I never knowingly and purposely buy from one, seeing how unlikely it is that when you buy a Yew Log it's ever going to be 100% pure these days.. I don't buy my own raw materials, preferring to gather them myself and train my skills that way. So I'm a nice, honest player, me! Goals to get my skills back up to a barely respectable level on the high scores: Currently going for Bone to Peaches spell. It's amazing how boring doing the same repetitive task is! Because that basically goes against human nature. FOR EXAMPLE: at the moment im enchanting at the MTA with Zaquier Ming, who is kindly informing me of my noob status, and when people post here. We discussed this topic, and I brought up to him that if he were to give me 100 mil cash right then and there, and gave me the option to keep it and log, or give it back and stay friends, I'd give it back. BUT, the thought of logging would cross my mind. We cannot help these emotions. It's part of life. We don't decide to think this way. If you find $20 on the floor, your friend instinct is to keep it, but most people give it to the person who dropped it. Part of human nature is greed and power-hunger. We want to be the best, and alot of us do whatever it takes. I trust Zaquier and he trusts me, enough to where I just gave him 60k cosmic runes, knowing he could log off at any monent with them. Is this foolish? Who knows. Did the thought of taking them cross his mind? Hell, Im sure it did. Did I know he would give them back? Sure did. Even though people may think it, it doesn't make them bad people. Or, I thought, "I wonder if these scams actually work..", and there have been times when I thought how cool would it be to guess the password of a really rich player. Now, I would never do any of these things, but the thought crosses your mind, it's nothing you can control. It's how you act on these thoughts that makes the difference. If a friend were to let me borrow an expensive item, there's no doubt I would give it back, and I would never scam someone, but the thought runs threw your mind "Wow, that's a lot of money, imagine what you could do with this..." And, yes, I've lied to people, it's not right, I'm not straight-up enough to tell someone I don't want them on my friends list, instead I might take the cowards way out and tell them that's it's full for example, rather than risk hurting their feelings by being blunt. If you seriously had to cheat at a game like Runescape for flip's sake then you're [developmentally delayed]ed. Not only is it just a game, but unless you're somewhere decent in World 99 then it's a pretty stupid game with the amount of 12 year old boys pretending to be girls/crying because they got hacked/eating soil. << Yes, eating soil. I don't Pk, and if I did I would never moan because someone is using a prayer or even eating.. Do kids these days seriously cry because their opponant eats?! I don't consider cheating to get me some quick cash, hell I even remember when I was around level 10 and a high level'd player offered to give me 8k for being polite! A person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs. Not all of what you mentioned is hypocritical. For example, lying is not hypocritical. Lying and claiming to be a saint is, however. Being a hypocrite is a choice; something you have control over. Where your mind wanders is something you cannot control. It is impossible to say that your mind has NEVER wandered into "evil" or "immoral" territory because you simply cannot control your thoughts at every moment of every day. Claiming that thinking of stealing somebody's items or scamming is wrong, hypocritical, or "immoral" is simply illogical. Doing something wrong, being a hypocrite, or committing an immoral act (in game or out) all entail actual ACTIONS taking place; not the thought of those actions. Otherwise, it would be just to jail somebody who THOUGHT of murdering somebody else, even though they had no intention whatsoever to do so. With all of that being said, this is an interesting topic. I, as some of you have surely figured out by now, am an odd cookie. I enjoy doing things that have no point except for the sake of doing them. Here are some of the strange things that I enjoy on occasion: I enjoy fake-pking. This is when I attack somebody in the wilderness until they are about 50% life. Then I trade them monkfish. Most of the 40 or so times that I have done this, they trade me, eat the fish, and watch as I follow them to safety (acting as a suicide body guard). Why do I do this? I guess I would have to say that I enjoy the feeling that it would give me to be in their shoes. They are sure that they are about to lose at least a long walk (I don't attack skulled players in case they are actually carrying something of value), then they get the elation of realizing that not only are they not going to die, but they have a 100+ body guard on the way to their destination. I've experienced this combination of feelings before and it makes the day a bit more exciting. I've stopped doing this because I accidently killed another player (at least he only lost his bones) with two high 20 specs when they were at about 70% life. It is only fun for me when nobody actually gets hurt. Abyss pker pking. It is so much fun to slaughter people like that. Why them and not random walkers? Because, they are selfish. The gain that they make from a kill (~60k or so?) is far, far less than the price they cost the one they kill (not the loss of gear/weapons, but the time required to regain pouches that weren't dropped in time). I enjoy scammer scamming. I don't actually go through with the trade (even though they deserve it and worse). It is rather easy to notice scammers in world 2 (selling things for over 20% less than everybody else around them). I start the trade, watch as they switch their items around (dragon bones to big bones is a common example), and put up 10% of the price they were asking. Because they are so used to being the scammer, they instantly accept. I agree to the first window and then watch tv. After usually a minute or more, they notice the error, and close the trade. I don't actually complete the scam, but BOY do they freak out when they almost lose their precious, scammed gp. If slayer drops are being nice, and forums are being mean, sometimes I go on f2p suicide runs. I'll equip some random addy and rune gear before heading into a f2p world. Then I run into multi-way combat zones with snares. I skull, then run around in circles snaring people as they try to team up on me. With my defense level, and okay gear f2p-wise (usually rune large, addy plate, rune legs, and rune scimitar) it takes them ages to use up all of my lobs. This USUALLY ends up leaving my pile for the smartest player and not the strongest one. The stronger ones tend to run straight at me and enjoy the caress of a snare, while the smarter ones dodge around and usually get a couple hits in before I can snare them as well. It costs me a <100k to have a little fun and reward an intelligent pker. If you search my threads, you will see many examples of my sick obsession with challenging common held beliefs or striving to find quick/maxed out versions of day-to-day tasks (barrows, construction, etc.) I guess this is due to my innate curiosity in things undiscovered or otherwise done in ways less than their most actualized. Hmm, that is all I can think of off the top of my head. Back to the topic: I have said that my friend's list was full before. Why? Because it was. :P The only time that I ever lie (on purpose; I can't really be blamed if I say that it is 47 degrees outside and it is actually 46.8239874 degrees now can I?) is when it saves somebody pain. If somebody wants to chat, and I don't or am too busy to, I will give them the honest answer. If they seemed miffed, I will make up an excuse so that they do not feel hurt. Why? Because it is not feasible to go into a detailed explanation for each and every person using runescape's very limited chat ability. I don't have the time nor patience to delve into 8 truncated lines of text of explanation and, knowing my verbosity, I would end up confusing and/or hurting their feelings. And both my friend's list and ignore list are nearly always full, so when I am saying that they are, they are. To my knowledge, I have not done anything else on that list. When it comes to pking, if I am actually in the wilderness to pk (very rare), I mimic what they do. Not because I feel any obligations to follow any supposed "rules", but because I want my kills to be on as fair a footing as possible. When I am in the wilderness and NOT pking, I do everything in my power to avoid death. Eat, pray, tele, whatever that is legal by Jagex's rules. My items won't drop easily. Tell people that you would return items you find in a death pile if you saw the person die, but when the time came, you kept them?[ive never seen anyone die] Or if the above never happened, were you lying when you said you'd return them?[] 2. Do you complain about autoers and say they need to go, but you buy supplies from them anyway because it's cheaper and faster? Asked to borrow a friend's expensive item to try on, but secretly you felt like stealing it?[i didnt ask, it was traded to me, i seriously considered it, but a couple hundred mill wouldnt replace a freindship] If yes, did you actually take it?[ ] (anything counts, from 10 gp to a party hat) 3. Killed a boss monster (Kq, KBD, etc) with a friend and lied about the drop so you could get all the money?[no] 4.
