August 22, 200718 yr I'm just gonna piss everyone off and say Buckethead and Herman Li. (Even though Hendrix etc are better they never played as fast or with a kfc bucket on their head) Enough said about Buckethead. He rocks! Last.Fm My Bloggy Proud to have served on Tip.it Crew
August 22, 200718 yr Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Hendrix was one of a kind, and Vaughan was the only one who came close to doing what he could.
August 22, 200718 yr Dimebag Darrell. His mastery of a fret board both with powerful riffs and an incredible ability to solo mashed in with his ability to write music still makes me question whether he was a human being. I have my suspicions... :anxious: Im pretty sure if he was some form of God he could have stopped that bullet.
August 22, 200718 yr there's a list of the top 100 according to rolling stone magazine here however, that's according to a magazine, many good guitarists aren't on it. i'm going to say Joe Walsh, mainly because nobody else has I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr
August 22, 200718 yr Passion, Gilmour Mood, Page Feel, Hendrix Force, Dimebag Skill, Clapton (you know that guy holds back for personal style) Funk, Morello Minimalist, Jack White Speed, Jason Becker Writer, Buckethead Thrash, Herman Li

August 23, 200718 yr in no particular order... jimmi hendrix daron malakian "dimebag" darrel eddie van halen and the guy from Metallica (im drawing a blank on his name :wall: ) Kirk Hammett. For speed and just plain skill, ill have to go with Herman Li.
August 23, 200718 yr this should of been talked about diff, you cant say who the best is, even in your own opinion, because you havnt heard them all, nor they generes People listen to diff stuff, ive read here lots like jimmy, but hes not the best, hes not, he might be the best in that genere, but not in the worl, they dudes from dragonforce are better, all metal bands are better, etc you get what im saying this should of been "the best guitar player in a certian genere" you know 1980 Berlinetta with a 350, bored, mild cam, intake carb, headers, exhaust
August 23, 200718 yr Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Dimebag Darrell. I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.
August 23, 200718 yr It is extremely difficult to overlook the skull-crushing speed of Herman Li. Varrock Library: Shattered Sky | Silent Thunder | The Emperor's FinestAstri @ MythWeavers
August 23, 200718 yr Passion, Gilmour Mood, Page Feel, Hendrix Force, Dimebag Skill, Clapton (you know that guy holds back for personal style) Funk, Morello Minimalist, Jack White Speed, Jason Becker Writer, Buckethead Thrash, Herman Li Damn, I don't think I could make that list better myself. Only one i'd add would be Steve Vai, for sheer technical virtuosity. As for my personal favourites, Jack White for those killer raw blues riffs, Clapton for the sheer energy and emotion he adds to his playing, and Gilmour for...well just writing some of the most powerful solos ever written. No one has a sense of melody quite like Gilmour. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
October 7, 200718 yr This CAN NOT be decided. because, the genres. its like comparing apples to oranges. like, if you compare a Rock guitarist, to a Metal Guitarist, the metal guitarist will win, because thats how the music is played. look at speed metal, the only speed metal band i know is Dragon Force, but they have the MOST INSANE guitar i have ever heard, but that doesnt mean they are the best, nor can they be compared to a different genre. i know this isnt what this topic is about but still. If you were to do this, you really can only say. Whos the best guitarist of the _______ genre. because as i said, a metal guitarist will take a rock, or pop, or country, etc, speed metal guitarists will take metal, Technical death metal guitar will take metal, death metal will take Metal, Black Metal will take Death metal, i can go on and on. your better off saying, whos your fav guitarist. because Whos the best? cannot be answerd. but my fav. i would have to say is Herman Li (dragon force) but i cant even really say that, because all my bands guitarist are my fav, they are all to closly matched. but out of Respect Dimebag takes the win. he was, and always will be a legend! 1980 Berlinetta with a 350, bored, mild cam, intake carb, headers, exhaust
October 8, 200718 yr In no real order: Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Gilmour, Pete Townshend ,Alex Lifeson, Zack Wylde(sp), Satriani, Tony Iommi, Van Halen. October 8, 200718 yr For me? Andres Segovia and Buckethead. Andres Segovia because he pretty much changed the guitar from the gypsie-only instrument to a classically acceptable instrument. And he was brilliant. Buckethead because of his innovations with the guitar, and his speed. So basically both because they think/thought outside the box to a great extent. Cool.
