F2P Drop Party

Anyone who would want merchanting to stop does not completely comprehend what merchanting actually does. It creates a more stable economy, and the only way to have a truly "Set Price" is not if merchants stop merchanting but if there truly was a "Tyrant" or someone who set the prices, or if there were no more updates or changes which would cause an equilibrium causing the prices to become closer to a set price having a smaller price range but not a set price. but that would not happen just like the iron armor with a str bonus it would make no sense to add that to only iron armor. And the Great Depression was caused because the merchanting basically stopped and thats what you want to happen. If you don't know history than learn about it, history repeats itself unless you know what happen to change it, So asking for the merchanting to stop is technically asking for another stock market crash.

And don't assume that I do not know what or how the depressions happened. Learn some history, take an economics class.

the depression was caused by merchanting stopping and creating inflation, but there is no inflation in runescape. therefore, prices would stablize.

Umm..ok..ever heard of Kaitnieks?

If you have played for as long as you said, you would know who he is, and the lengths jagex went to to stop him from exploding the economy..

He basically started RS macroing, and in the process, he found out how to duplicate partyhats..now tell me that's not inflation.

There is inflation in runescape it just does not affect everything, such as items sold in the shop that are easily bought aka -Noob stuff found in general shops- and the price would rise. Look at it this way if there weren't merchants there to bring you constant flow of supplies, you would either need to get them yourself or find a needle in a haystack to sell to you and they could charge what ever they wanted because it would basically be a monopoly, if no one else was selling those items. Merchants are like stock brokers, they bring the items your looking for to you with out you having to work as hard.

wow, this has gone really offtopic. so back ontopic, the reason why theres nothing good in the chest is because i dont know about you, but the only reason i would have a drop party is for my friends or for a celebration, and i seriously doubt that there were people putting d legs and abby whips, ect in there in p2p. by the way, the reason you get spammed so much in lumby is because there are only newbs there, seeing as theres nothing worthwhile to do there. all the mature, higher lvl ftps are skilling or training or pking, so if you want to find some good ftp look on the forums or go to the lessers or yews or lumby mine. there will probably be some newbs there, and some noobs, but thats because there are many more newb/noobish people in ftp, simply becuase theres so many more people there.

what the hell are you talking about? merchants get their supplies from someone else, so it's basically taking out the middle man and making prices lower for the buyer, but the seller would sell for the same. everyone would win except for the selfish merchants.

and to the post above, i've tried those places, and all i see are pures abusing the english language in the wilderness, there are some nice people at lessers, but noone i would want to be friends with and the rest are range/ mage pures. and all i get at yew trees are autoers and people complaining about the autoers.

well maybe those werent the best examples, but my point is, if you just go to lumby, and base what you think all ftp players are like, thats not a very fair observation. and i must admit, there are noobs almost everywhere in ftp, but there are also many mature people. i can understand, however, how, if you rarely go to ftp, you could think there are almost all noobs/newbs, but there are many mature people in ftp, theyre just alot harder to find. try places that require higher lvls to get into/use(i.e, mining guild, greaters in wildy). those are the only ones i can think of, but the mining guild, ive noticed, is almost all noob free. so, in conclusion, there are mature people, you just have to look harder.

I don't know why people expect there to be good stuff there in p2p or f2p, most people playing Runescape have no intention of giving anything away let alone stuff that has a substantial worth. As a couple people said this doesn't mean its lame or w/e, low lvl charachters will get useful free stuff and everyone else can enjoy the novelty of a new feature ingame.

As for the slug fest between the p2per and f2per i will merely say that i played f2p for 3-4 months and yes there were many NOOBS everywhere talking smack to me about w/e, but also there were many non-noobs who you could talk to and tbh after 6ish months of members the same trend applies.

PS:Yew trees in members are only slightly less occupied than the yew trees in f2p, i know a few people who chop yews for money. Also on the merchant note, what merchants do is buy low and sell high, not bad for the economy in any sense, but bad for the consumer yes.

yes, but everywhere i go there is some idiots making fools of themselves so much that i can't talk to those mature people. two of my best friends i met while mining, and discussing how the economy would be impacted if all trimmed armor and rares were made members, and jagex took them away and gave people market price for them. but a lot of people just want to talk about being "gangsta" or calling people noobs, so i can't really talk to the people who have decent conversations with me. when i became a member, i saw that pretty much anywhere except catherby and the rock crabs had people with great personalities and attitudes, that i was quite stunned. the community was way better than school, and i made a lot more friends. then i joined these forums, and compared to these, members worlds were school house bullies. meanwhile, i keep thinking that if i want the attitude i get in f2p, i should just go to a public school. i must've forgotten that i do. basically what i'm saying is, you have to go way out of your way to meet decent people, while in member's they are just everywhere. even public schools aren't that bad, because if you go there, you are spotted by a clique(couldn't find the alt code) and you make all the friends you're going to get. so in all reality, f2p runescape is the hardest place to make friends if you're not a l33t speaker or are emo or think you are superior.

F2P is usally filled with idiotic noobs and what not, but it doesn't mean the entire F2P population are idiotic noobs and what not. Its just a quick-detail about them. Me personally, don't think F2P is as bad some people say, but I don't think it's like P2P.

It's like Mexico, people are usally poor (noobs), but not everyone is poor(good F2Pers). Most of it is just medium-wealth homes,(OK people) like here. But there is a lot of poor people though(noobs), but not everyone is.

Merchanting is toally legal and OK do to. People who hate merchanting can't do it themselves. I must admit, I can't merchat, don't hav the patience to do it, and I don't like merchanters neither because they buy at such low prices it's ridiculious (most merchaters anywho). But you and I shouldn't say merchanters are scumbags who ruin the economy, when we both know it's not true. They're the only reason we HAVE a economy, and without them RuneScape wouldn't be the gold-targeted game it is today. Plus, when we're selling our stuff and they're wanting to buy it at low prices, they're not making us sell it to them but it beats standing around for another 20 minutes when we could do something fun or funnier, like Barrows or training.

Drop parties on both Members and Non-members where always crappy beyond ashes. Once in a while there were some good items in the chest, just like in F2P. I see no difference from the updated Party Room and the old...just that one's in Falador.

Hmm, latinoking's P2P elitist attitude makes me wonder if he's born [developmentally delayed], or if he's just exceptionally good at it.

hmm, your belief that he's acting elitest is making me wonder the same about you. if you want elitest, look at nazi germany, then tell me he's elitest. and don't flame me for being rascist, as i'm german.

Nazi Germany enforces outright discrimination, that's a little different from elitism, since elitism is only social discrimination.

BTW, why would I flame you for being racist?

And who are you to say he can't afford 5 bucks? he may be a hundred times richer than you, but like me, just doesn't value rs enough to pay anything.

The first thing I did when I logged in today was go check the Party Room out.

There seems to be constant parties in progress, and although the drops are *cabbage* it's great fun!

Yeah, cabbage... literally.

I was the first to bomb the chest with cabbage  , with the help of Schmuall(sp?), I think Chimp Guy0 too. I put 100k worth stuff and suddenly it stopped flowing in ... Then everyone asked for the lever to be pulled, but no one had the cash. Then someone pulled the levers. To summon the knights.

By the way, there's free crafting XP in the baloons. Free gems <3:

Matt: You want that eh? You want everything good for you. You want everything that's--falls off garbage can

Camera guy: Whoa, haha, are you okay dude?

Matt: You want anything funny that happens, don't you?

Camera guy: still laughing

Matt: You want the funny shit that happens here and there, you think it comes out of your [bleep]ing [wagon] pushes garbage can down, don't you? You think it's funny? It comes out of here! running towards Camera guy

Camera guy: runs away still laughing

Matt: You think the funny comes out of your mother[bleep]ing creativity? Comes out of Satan, mother[bleep]er! nn--ngh! pushes Camera guy down

Camera guy: Hoooholy [bleep]!

Matt: FUNNY ISN'T REAL! FUNNY ISN'T REAL!

nick, thats kind of an odd way to put it, but finally someone thinks the same as me. i think the majority of people on ftp that ive met are newbs, but not stupid, or idiotic, or whiny, or scammers, or anything like that. alot of the members look down on them because theyre low level and dont have alot of money or good items, and dont know alot about the game. but just because of that, doesnt mean theyre noobs. while there are alot of noobs, if yould look around in ftp for a while, yould find quite a few nice, mature, ordinary people, and alot of nice(although a bit annoying sometimes) newbs.

Unless a group are "having a drop party", it will be unlikely that there will be anything more than clearance stuff in there.

The problem with using it for an organized drop party, is that any noob with 1k can hit the lever before it's ready, but you could combine that with a "traditional" F2P drop party in the same area.

One disappointment, stackable items stack from multiple insertions, so you cannot make a multi-value coin drop.

In quiet worlds, this area could be abused for drop trading, probably with less risk of detection, but more risk of the stuff being lost.
