Summoning, what spells will it entail?

Well a discussion basically on what you think may be a summon.

Reanimation:

4 life runes 10 blood runes and 15 death runes

Effect:

Transforms one set of bones into a skeleton. For every ten seconds that the skeleton is effective you will lose 2 hp.

Just thought it might be interesting to discuss possible summon spells. Please keep it realistic though, summoning TzTok-Jad won't ever happen.

I like that idea, Dagannoth bones.

I would have thought in general terms, Summon Skeleton, Summon Imp and so on. Maybe summon Medic, lol? Or summon your Housekeeper Demon for something?

I think summoning will be integrated into existing spell books for 1

Then I think it will be a case of like 3 spells:

Summon

Animate

Dispell

Summon is cast on special talismans/icons you have to make to summon like demons that kinda thing obv harder ones like dragons require rarer items

Animate is cast on bones, ashes etcto create un-dead creatures

Dispell is cast on things u summoned to destroy them(assuming they not died/vanished of their own accord)

Hmm, if summoning requires runes, I dunno if it'll be a seperate skill rather then a banch of mage.

Nice ideas...Can't think of any <.<

I think the interesting things here is what the summoning creatures does!

Skeleton

Attack the enemies you attack (only in multi combat?).

Goblin Shaman

Heals you 5hp a minute until he is killed or vanishes after 5 minutes of summoning.

Baby Dragon

Can be used to recharge your dragonfire shield.

Birds

Can be used to send items to bank (1 item each bird) or be used to gather feathers. (Kind of like the avas accumulator that generates steel arrows)

Summoning birds would require bird bones,

Skeleton would requier skeleton bones..

etc..

What about summoming your armour?

you know something like in the warriors guild

that you should buy for example full bronze and 100 earth runes and some "life runes" and get a animated bronze armour just to help you in your fights.

Well if summoning does come out, im guessing it will be magic related. Possibly another spell book and skill connected to mage.

In order to cancel the abuse of high level monsters at low levels, summoning should be related to your combat level. Also training the skill should have an increased amount of risk about equal to what a person with a certain combat levels can handle. Level 20's summoning black demons 172 would be a tad unfair. :-w

3 Diffrent types of summoning.

Re-animation---with bones and skellys as explained in above posts.

Combat related (ones that fight)----Ones that can heal\Fight\be used for defence. things like that.

Dispell is cast on things u summoned to destroy them(assuming they not died/vanished of their own accord)

Thats pretty much sums up the 3rd one.

Armored skeleton:

Attacks monsters you attack. You need two set of bones, steel med and steel longsword to summon this monster.

Water elemental:

Attacks monster with magic. Requires two buckets (or bowls etc) of water to be able to summon this monsters.

Skeletal dragon:

Attacks monsters with strong melee attack (cannot use dragonbreath). Requires four sets of dragon bones and steel claws.

I think it would be more in the game's storyline if we allow the player to create golems like the one from The Golem quest. This would have to be introduced through a quest, much like how the Ancient and Lunar spell books were introduced.

If we have Animation, different materials can be made into golems. Clay, wood, different metal ores, and we would also gain exp in the skill that relates to the material being used. Clay gives Crafting exp, wood gives woodcutting exp, metal ores give smithing exp, etc.

I think that we will be able to create "elementals." Wood elemental, there has to be a tree around. Water elemental, water source. Fire elemental, you gotta light a fire, etc. You will be able to use "necromancy" ( like summoning skeletons and stuff) but it will be weakest form (skelly's are like lvl 13) and they would attack people around ( way to kill autoers ftw!!). It would be like a random event though. They'd have to talk to them to make em stop. And The monsters would be able to use bind :XD: no more runnin' autoers!

maybe use no runes at all, and you need to learn the specific rituals that are needed to summon the creatures, and the summons take a time to work, and there are fail chances in which the summon goes wrong, but thinking about it, it wouldn't work very well, and i think should be an add on to mage. a whole new skill wouldn't work, there wouldn't be enough content

hmm good idea :-k

i think you're will be able to take bones in noted form to the skill master, and he can maybe for some money make them stackable(they will be none bury able) then the called "bird summon bones".

I'm guessing it will either be a separate skill or a different spellbook (like lunar and ancients) and you would switch between.

Wonder if the runes will sell better than nats and if they will need 70+ rc to make :o

Summoning would be hard to implement, since there would be Archers and warriors screaming for revenge when a group f mages suddenly double their damage. But we'll see, Jagex has surprised us before.

I doubt jagex will make summoning purely magic based, that would, as you said, make mages way overpowered.

I was thinking summoning to be a completely different skill, not just magic based. I'm sure if summoning were to ever come out, they would introduce the monsters you can summon to use range, mage, or melee(or maybe a combination of two for higher levels).

Fredz - I like your suggestions. :)

This is my take on how summoning will work

You will only be able to have a certain amount of summons active at a time depending on your level. Summoning the summons will require consumables, there will be a certain list of these consumables that will be stackable and can be used across each summon. For instance, you each summon will use the same consumables in the same way that every spell uses the same runes how ever each summon will have a unique component and several common components.

Components could either be created, stolen, gotten from monster drops etc. Because components will be fairly varried in origin it will probably be possible to get various components from various skills. One may require the hunting of a certain creature whilst another is mined etc.

This is how I imagine the Skill levels will pan out

-Unsummon - Lvl 1

Destroys one of your summons instantly

- Class A buff creature - Lvl 1

This summon some how improves your stats (str, atk, def, mag, range)

-Class A Skill creature - lvl 3

This summon assists in skilling by either making a specific task easier or generating a raw material or acting as a larger pack

-Class A Buff - lvl 7

Increases the stats or abilities of summon

-Class A Melee creature - lvl 9

A combat summon that fights using melee

-Class A range creature - lvl 12

A combat summon that fights using ranged

-Class A Mage creature - lvl 15

A combat summon that fights using mage

-Increase number of summons - lvl 15

Allows you to have more summons active

-Dispell - lvl 18

An attack that does high damage to enemy summons

- Class B buff creature - lvl 20

This summon some how improves your stats (str, atk, def, mag, range)

Better than Class A variation

-Class B Skill creature - lvl 23

This summon assists in skilling by either making a specific task easier or generating a raw material or acting as a larger pack

Better than Class A variation

-Class B Buff - lvl 26

Increases the stats or abilities of summon

Better than Class A variation

-Class B Melee creature - lvl 29

A combat summon that fights using melee

Better than Class A variation

-Class B range creature - lvl 33

A combat summon that fights using ranged

Better than Class A variation

-Class B Mage creature - lvl 38

A combat summon that fights using mage

Better than Class A variation

-Increase number of summons again - lvl 40

Allows you to have even more summons active

-Greater Dispell - lvl 42

An attack that does higher damage to enemy summons

- Class C buff creature - lvl 45

This summon some how improves your stats (str, atk, def, mag, range)

Better than Class C variation

-Class C Skill creature - lvl 52

This summon assists in skilling by either making a specific task easier or generating a raw material or acting as a larger pack

Better than Class C variation

-Class C Buff - lvl 55

Increases the stats or abilities of summon

Better than Class C variation

-Class C Melee creature - lvl 60

A combat summon that fights using melee

Better than Class C variation

-Class C range creature - lvl 68

A combat summon that fights using ranged

Better than Class C variation

-Class C Mage creature - lvl 78

A combat summon that fights using mage

Better than Class C variation

-Increase number of summons again - lvl 80

Allows you to have even more summons active

-Special Summons - lvl 90

A special summon that has increased abilites possibly combining several types of summon such as more than one attack style or buffing abilities etc.

There would be several different special summons but it would only be possible to have one active at once.

-Increase number of summons - lvl 95

A final increase to the number of summons you can have active. By the time you get this in the high 90's you will be comanding an army basically
