Y'know I don't see alot of riddles on these games or on these boards, so I decided to start a thread with riddles. I will add a new one each week, and keep score of correct answers (First one to answer a riddle correctly gets bonus points.)

There is an island filled with grass and trees and plants. The only inhabitants are 100 lions and 1 sheep. The lions are special:

 

 

 

1) They are infinitely logical, smart, and completely aware of their surroundings.

 

 

 

2) They can survive by just eating grass (and there is an infinite amount of grass on the island).

 

 

 

3) They prefer of course to eat sheep.

 

 

 

4) Their only food options are grass or sheep.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now, here's the kicker:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5) If a Lion eats a sheep he TURNS into a Sheep (and could then be eaten by other lions).

 

 

 

6) A lion would rather eat grass all his life than be eaten by another lion (after he turned into a sheep).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Assumptions:

 

 

 

1) Assume that one lion is closest to the sheep and will get to it before all others. Assume that there is never an issue with who gets to the sheep first. The issue is whether the first lion will get eaten by other lions afterwards or not.

 

 

 

2) The sheep cannot get away from the lion if the lion decides to eat it.

 

 

 

3) Do not assume anything that hasn't been stated above.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So now the question:

 

 

 

Will that one sheep get eaten or not and why?

i say that no sheep will get eaten because the lions would fear being eaten just as much.

IF the sheep get eaten theres 99 lions and 1 sheep and if that contineus, there will be 1 sheep who can eat grass all day so i say yes...

if 1 eats the sheep then more and more would die, eventually, there would be then 1 sheep left, or the lions would attack each other until there's 1 sheep and 1 lion eat sheep, lion left, mmm... guess all lions will eat something else, or bite of the sheep once in a while? (if not changeing)

Change the scale so no matter what happens it equals one less or one more.

it would still be the wrong bottle if you picked a wrong one. the scale would just be messed up

I belive this may be the answer:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Take ten scales. 1 bottle on a scale means you are weighing it one time!

 

 

 

So, the odd bottle would be the one that doesn't match the other scale's measurements. This would make it so you are weighing them a single tim e, but weighing them all with the 9 normal ones with the normal weight and the odd bottle showing another.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wait, that's kinda confusing... Simple Version:

 

 

 

10 bottles, 10 scales, each bottle get weighed at the same time on its own scale. all bottles are weighed at one time. 9 bottles will have the correct weight measurement on scale. the other 1 will show a different weight.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Second possible answer:

 

 

 

1 scale, 10 bottles. One by one place a bottle on the scale. Then as you place them on, have the scale set to what they should be at (100 grams), so when all ten are on, it shows not 100, but either 101 or 99. Then remove a bottle at a time, while watching the scale. Once it is back to how it should be (lets say u removed 3 bottles and when u remove the 4th, the scale is at 60 grams exact, but when the third was removed, it showed 71 grams), you have the bottle you want, and only weighed them 1 time!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

another complicated answer, SIMPLE VERSION:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

place all 10 bottles on scale and set scale to 100 grams. remove a bottle one at a time, checking the scale at the same time. the scale should eventually be back to multiples of ten after removing a certian bottle. the bottle that returns the scale to multiples of ten when removed is the odd bottle.
