Furthermore, if a society does not value the rights of women, or requires a high birth rate for labor or to counter a massive death rate (Say, from AIDS), it isn't going to use condoms either because it needs the children.

 

They do nothing to existing AIDS cases, and unless I'm wrong, AIDS can in fact be spread from a mother to her child. So to stop the spread, AIDS infectees could not be allowed to reproduce. AIDS can be treated, but not cured, and all infectees are still more or less guaranteed an early death whether or not they have condoms.

 

So what would be a better use of money, condoms or research?

I never once suggested we airdrop condoms on every village and city below the equator. Family planning, however, requires birth control. Improving quality of life requires education, which in turn necessitates a decline in birth rate. You cannot seek education if you have a dozen children to feed.

 

Somehow, I don't think temperature changes of a few degrees causes permeability issues with latex. And guess what: a quick search of "latex malfunction heat" shows nothing on the first three pages.

 

If we released a virus on the continent, that was passed through bodily fluids, killing and infecting millions, it would be called genocide.

Well you're exactly right. In all honesty, the only points I'm arguing is aids is not a genocide. As well as just air dropping condoms, along with educational pamphlets isn't going to solve anything. But I do agree with your post.
