autobuyers

isnt it annoying when you need to buy some death or chaos runes cheaply in the magic shops in varrock or port sarim, but you find either 1 or 0 of each because of the autobuyers?

recently i have been using a plan which a friend told me to try and kill them using the highwaymen just north of the shop, but it doesnt seem to be working.

you have to punch or kick the highway man and make him follow you to the rune shop nearby, and go inside it, bringing him with you. once there you shut the door so no one can get out. the idea is to get a reward as well as killing the macroer. as these are autobuyers standing there constantly buying, they must have lots of money and runes, which they have bought.

however, the highwayman doesnt seem to attack them. i am guessing the reason is that that the autobuyers have been there so long. is there anything that can be done about this?

Are you in aubury's or Betty's? It always seems to work in aubury's but people are constantly opening the door.

If your p2p you can buy them at different places, and they will be less likely to be full there. The magic guild is a good spot, if you have 68 magic.

Yeah I can't stand those autobuyers either, but I love to report them, because there the ones that cost the bot makers the most to lose. That is that play on free servers. But I have never heard that you can use the highway man to kill them. I personally wouldn't do this though because since you can't indefinetly be sure that they are macros it could be construed as some kind of item scamming.

I saw a weird one the other day. A level 3 was buying runes at the mage bank, but they were also selling, using an autotyper to say, "Selling Deaths - 290 each - XXXXX". What was really weird was that name that they used in the autotyper wasn't the same name as the character (or the name of anybody in the mage bank). From all it's actions it looked like a bot, but are bots smart enough to actually sell stuff now?

i think he was multi logging.

the autobuyer was just buying deaths for his main from the shop cheap, and had public chat off.

his main, which already had a stack of deaths from the autobuyer may have been autotalking to sell the deaths for more than paid for, and it talked on both accounts, so the name may have been his main's name, but of course he wouldnt realise he was saying this, as public chat was off.

if anyone has anoher opinion to share, please do so

it DOES work, I hit the mugger in varrock with air strike (so that it only does max 2 damage.) and then run into the rune shop. Get a friend to close the door and keep it closed. The biggest problem was other people kept on attacking the mugger. I managed to kill 4 autoers in like 10 minutes. All they dropped was a full load of ess though. The one rune buyer never got touched for some reason. I dont think of it as item scamming whatsoever. I think of it as killing autoers (which are against the rules.) And as someone said..if they werent autoing, they could VERy easily run away without dying. Even a legit lvl 3 can survive a mugger attack.

right after a system update run down to sarim, buy the runes, when autos come in, start doing it. i had one attacked while betty was trading. some noob waltzed in and "rescued" the autoer and began demanding payment -_-.

The problem with the varrock shop is that the autoers are now very smart. If they get attacked by the mugger, the simply use the teleport to the rune essence mine. :wall:

I engineered this thread with precise variables that I know would cause lul-worthy flames.

lol i love watching that in world 2.

You can usually tell if they are actual players. If they say "stop" or do some emotions, they tend to be real, whereas autoers won't.
or scream nooooooooo!!! for some reason. O_o

about 4 days ago there was an update, i did this, but the highwayman didnt attack. this is because when the autobuyer logs back on, they have still been there for ages just before the update. another example of this is fighting the lesser demons. if say i killed 50, they would stop attacking me, and when i next log on, they still dont attack me, so the thing is to try getting the buyers as they go into the shop. any ideas on this?
