underu2000
Strange how the defense of prejudices doesn't arise in religious forums around here, but never mind that. I'm not much aware of the differences between Goths and emos, it'd be nice if someone can enlighten me, other than the music part. Perhaps folks who consider themselves emos aren't what stereotypes generalize them to be, but it doesn't change the fact that some emos do exist who do act as stereotypes suggest. Not all emos are cutters, or act depressed and such, but many do, which gets pretty alarming and influences what people think. I'm not sure why emos qualify as gay, but many of the things that happen are somewhat taboo. Needless to say, I'm opposed to things like cutting and the depression act, but I don't hate them or anything. And can someone tell me what the group hug is for?....... Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.

meb
Emo clothes are ugly and their hair is ugly. This is not just my opinion, this is the opinion of almost everyone I know that is no emo. Not all emos are cutters or depressed but by wearing those clothes you do want people to think you do. In other words, they are like Gothics: Desperate for attention. Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks. Why is this worse then the way you dress? Imo it would be damn boring if everybody would wear mainstream. Besides - i like fancy hairdress and piercings on girls --> More goths please. ltb2006
There is nothing wrong with people that are actually "emo",but everyone i know that call themselves emo are just attention seeking douchebags. "Lets be different by calling things random more often and classify people on what music they listen to even more than normal." That pretty much sums up my definition of an emo where i live anyway. Spiffeh
One question. Do any of you know ANYTHING about cutting at all? And dont come up with some sarcastic responce to that.. No? I didn't think so.
hellbellz
One question. Do any of you know ANYTHING about cutting at all? And dont come up with some sarcastic responce to that.People cut because they feel like it gives them a rush of adrenaline. They also cut because they feel depressed, sad, or miserable and think it will help them if they cut. Which it won't. So there's my non sarcastic response to you. It does give a "rush", which in turn gets their mind off of whatever. I'm not saying everyone should try it, I'm just tired of everyone joking and laughing about it. I didn't think so. Mh.. some people cut each other for sexual pleasure. Not exactly my cup of tea, but hey.. whatever turns you on. I once cut an A(narchy) into my arm in the middle of the classroom when i was 13 just to freak people out. I have to say: It worked! When i was 14 i extinguished a cigarette on the outer side of my left hand. I didn't exactly know why i did it. I thought it wouldn't hurt, because it would be out fast enough. Guess i was wrong about that - the scar is still visible. I don't need to cut myself. I smoke. Guess cutting would be healthier. Anyway i think cutting oneself could be substituted for the right kind of sexual outlet. Anybody seen "Secretary"? Hope that wasn't too sarcastic. I just have hardly any relation to cutting and as already pointed out, cutting could and probably should be substituted for (rough) sex. Just my thoughts on that. I didn't think so. Considering cutting was my form of stress relief when I was depressed a year ago, I somehow think I know a decent bit about cutting.. And I'm not being sarcastic. Jaziek
Is this turning into a "im better at cutting myself than you" contest? I think it is. Only natural in an emo topic.

He's acting like nobody here has ever cut before or knows anything about it. Considering I know about it and have experience, I'm not going to let him act like we're all living sheltered lives. Spiffeh
I didnt mean it like that, sorry. I guess I worded it wrong. It just seemed like most people were poking fun at it, and I was hoping for a response from those people.

Sure, I lack first-hand experience, but like deloria said, it's not like I have a sheltered life or anything. Cutting isn't something to show off anyway. People poke fun at it because it is arguably the biggest reason why 'emos' are disliked. Thus, the hating occurs. Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either. People who cut their wrists, arms, or any other area that shows easily are just looking for attention. I'm in the same form as a guy who cut himself all over his belly. He was doing it for attention, he did it in public (outside the Corn Exchange if anyone is familiar with Leeds) and wore the bloody t-shirt all day. Moron. One of my best mates (ex) girl-friend cut herself. It's the main reason that he left her - to the girls out there, it is not attractive or wanted, please don't. Faster! ...huh? i'm a bit single minded these days... When the [cabbage] comes pouring down on you, do whatever you have to, beat yourself up, cut yourself, [bleep] yourself over anyway you please. Just stay on course and when it's all over it doesn't really matter what you did. You'll be stronger and your life will be much brighter. Just never give up! Dammit! I'm not even drunk or anything... I've been through some hard stuff and I've never self-mutilated. I've done other unhealthy things... but just caused more problems and I ended up kicking those all together. Well I was rambling, but cutting = bad. Cowards can't block Warriors.
