Do you put experience before the actual enjoyment and fun?

Featured Replies

Well, I have been playing alot recently, yet not going anywhere fast, as I enjoy myself and am more often than not standing chatting, or semi doing a task, and talking to friends on other chat programmes, and generally having a laugh.

yet my friend is already 65 mining ( wont name names ) after three days, I ask him wether he actually enjoys playing, and he said no but he needed fast experience. He said he'd like to have been higher but his computer is shared.

I fail to see , even, his point of view at all, it's not like him getting faster experience by not having a good time will even get him into a more enjoyable period of play, he plans to go for 85 mining then mine runite ores, to afford a party hat, and he plans to do it in around 6 months!

It seems he's putting experience and items before even enjoying the game at all! This just seems stupid, and not actually the point of the game. I'm sure also, I forgot to add he's combat 42 too ( no idea his actual stats ). So it's not like he is just simply mining.

Do you find this a good way to play? Always doing it like a chore aiming to get something fast, but not so you can enjoy it, but so you can equally

as quickly move onto another task.

I see this in 'skillers' too, they say they do it for the challenge! Why would they want to make it more challenging than the original when they haven't even maxed out all skills on the original, to show they need a harder version! However this is no dig at the ones who do it for some quick levels as a break to them doing a high levelled skill, as i'm guessing that would be hypocrtical.

Anyway, what do you think of these intense hardcore playing styles? right? Or do you think at a subconcious (sp?) level, we all want to do this, and it's the way the human brain works.

All points of view welcome on such matters.

Thanks for reading! please message me with all spelling corrections because i'm really not all that great at it!

I like working towards a target, yet I get distracted easily... So I work at something until I get bored of it. That way I'm having fun, but still getting stuff done. Stuff like fishing's even better since you can just stand there talking and getting exp at the same time.

Some people Just enjoy their Skills, and training. Some Enjoy The fun of the Game, And Skills. And Some Just Enjoy the Fun the game. Well, I'm the type of person who Enjoys the Game, And Focuses on my skills aswell. I can understand your friends point of view, he has to share a computer. It Just depends on your real life situations :-k .

The problem is you kinda need stats to be able to enjoy yourself in the first place... Try making a new account and not training it at all. Not a lot of people will talk to you besides to call you a noob, and you can't do good stuff with your skills unless you train them. So you're just left wandering around aimlessly... IMO, not fun.

Seems quite alot of you do. you think at the end i'll have this but is the fun not in actually training it to 99?

Rushing it wont matter as if you take it slow and enjoy it you will sitll get the reward in the end.

If your not having fun in RS, go play another game. The point of a game is to have fun. If you have fun getting EXP (I know I do) then good. If not, go do something else.

-.- Yet another ewan-brand thread.

I just train and when I get bored, go and have some fun. Also, I go to sodb and tip.it events to enjoy myself. :D

skillers think that gaining exp is fun, and about your friend, he is dedicated to getting his goal, and once he will get it, he will have a sence of accomplishment, whichmakes the game fun

Hephaestos8.gif

I don't know how/why but I actually do have fun grinding, maybe because I think of the awesome things I can do when I reach my goals. I don't know really. :-k

I mostly play Runescape to have fun, but I do boring things so that later on I can have more fun. (EX: Doing DT so I can ancient in CW) I think playing for fun is more important then no-lifing something just to get exp.
