indy500fan
These tests always suck. I say it in every topic (which there are about 4 or 5 of, I don't blame you for not finding them via search because the search function sucks), and hohto already said it in this topic. The questions are too boolean, you either agree or you don't. Doesn't give any sort of sideways alternative, and if there is a middle option as "other" or something, it throws your score way off. Anyways I am a Libertarian, my scores are around the ends towards a free market and free society. Not quite anarcho-capitalist, but close.

indy500fan
Just for [cabbage]s and giggles I decided to take the test again. After reading the very first question I gave up again. Just like in all the other topics, I finally decided to do it and then give up after the first question. When the first question is a [cabbage]ty one, you just know the rest of it will be. Stragomagus
http://www.politicalcompass.org/faceboo ... &soc=-8.46 Your political compass Economic Left/Right: -8.50 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.46 This test has some serious flaws in it which tend to put just about anyone in the lower-left corner. Since this is supposed to be a political test many of the questions simply do not belong in it. Here are alot of examples. "It is important that my child's school instills religious values." "Some people are naturally unlucky." "You cannot be moral without being religious." "Astrology accurately explains many things." "Making peace with the establishment is an important aspect of maturity." "Mothers may have careers, but their first duty is to be homemakers." "Abstract art that doesn't represent anything shouldn't be considered art at all." "When you are troubled, it's better not to think about it, but to keep busy with more cheerful things." "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." "Abortion, when the woman's life is not threatened, should always be illegal." "It's natural for children to keep some secrets from their parents." "People with serious inheritable disabilities should not be allowed to reproduce." "The most important thing for children to learn is to accept discipline." "It is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who simply manipulate money and contribute nothing to their society." "Land shouldn't be a commodity to be bought and sold." It's a sad reflection on our society that something as basic as drinking "water is now a bottled, branded consumer product." "Our race has many superior qualities, compared with other races." "There is now a worrying fusion of information and entertainment." "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." Now that that is over with it has a Radical-Christian air about it. No, I am not "bashing" the religion itself and any who follow it. -Edit- By being in the negatives this test gives both communism and Libertarians a bad name therefore this test is sub-par at best in evaluting your political standpoints. He's right, a true communist would score on Stalin's side, the upper left corner..(Like Lenin over there  ) Oh, really? I had always thought original Marxism had the goal of achieving a classless, stateless government made up of communes, and that the very absence of a government would lead to a more libertarian way of life. And that that lame Stalin just messed up and planted a communist dictatorship. My mistake then. :XD: Read my post as: "By the way, Necromagus is really a hardcore Anarcho-communist, that's the most extreme score I've ever seen. :uhh:" This signature is intentionally left blank. The Real ET
Socialism works out great in theory (like Communism), but almost always ends up in an opressive, corrupt government. The argument between federal and state government has always been prominent in American history, and it's always hard to find a good balance. Socialism tends to tip the scales a little too much towards federal government control and can end up with a bad dictator, etc. because of human greed. Socialism doesn't always turn out badly though. This summer I met a girl from Switzerland (or Sweden I forget which), and that country's government is a democratic socialist one. I haven't had a chance to look it up at all, but from my understanding, she said it was very fair and popular over there. That was just her opinion, so I don't have any solid proof to give you, but hey I guess it could work. For how long it would work though, who can say? :-k Cowards can't block Warriors. meol
Yep, the past examples of Socialist governments falling into the evil webs of totalitarianism (Maoist China, Stalinist Russia, Pol Pot's Cambodia) are the reasons for the new Democratic Socialist tendencies (not to be confused with social democratic ones), like the new "Linke Partei" (simply "the Left Party") in Germany, for example. In my opinion, such a government, where there's still place for personal liberties (for religion, opinion, press, etc.), would certainly work, and even "softer" versions of it are already working without disrupting the economy (such as in the GDR). IIRC, Sweden and Norway have such systems and also have very low Gini Coefficients, which measures economic inequality (at least compared to the ones in capitalists, developed countries, like the U.S.).
