Runite

3 questions:

1: I heard that Runite was made by another game. Is this true?

2: If so, what game?

3: Also, did that game make Mithril and Addamant?

Think really hard :-k

Lol, way wrong forum. What is it that escapes people about "not runescape related"?

This isn't Runescape related, it's ore related. [/sarcasm]

Seriously though, they need to put that in bigger print. There are so many boards for Runescape chat, yet some people insist on posting in one of the very few that are not designated for it.. :wall:

Adamant and Mithril are from LOTR. Frodo finds a Mithril chain mail in the mines of moria. I remember reading one of the poems in it that said something about adamant.

Actually mithril and adamant have been around for thousands of years they just go by different names now.

diamonds= adamant

mithril- *edit* upon furher analysis i am not entirely sure of "mithrils" name origins but it did not start form J.R.r Tolkiens: the Lord of the rings or the Hobbit.

Even lotr got all of its fiction from mythology, and other various thign s from the world.

WHy the heck does everyone say mithril and adamant are inventions of LOTR?

Mithril and Adamant and Runite featuring in HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of fantasy based stories etc dating all the way back to ancient Greece. Runite is less commonly used in modern fantasy though.

Bilbo gives the mithril cainnmail to Frodo, but no mention of adamant. I'm currently reading (In fact, re-re-re-reading) the trilogy and there are mentions of diamonds, but no adamant, mithril is the "best" metal.

One of the three rings of the elves is made of adamant. But its a gem, not an ore in LOTR.

This time I am providing a few links for both adamant and Mithril since I was not heard the first time.

adamant- http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/adamant

mithril- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mithra

It took close to an hour to find the "true origins" of the word "mithril" because lotr and other gaming sources flooding it all. This is also why I am not a big supporter of google as it is so hard to get anything truly relevent when it is something that is quite obscure.

The Runescape interpretation of Mithril was taken from LOTR. It was said to be 'Tough as dragon scales, light as a feather'. It kinda explains why Mithril is unusually light compared to any other Runescapian metal (Bronze, Iron, Steel, Black, Mithril, Adamant, Runite, Dragon)

As far as I know (might be wrong, though) adamant comes from Ancient Greece, mithril comes from Tolkien, and runite comes from RS.

This signature is intentionally left blank.

again this is the wrong forum.. but i believe mithril comes from the lord of the rings trilogy and first appears in the hobbit

Many other games use Mithril too, sometimes spelled Mythril (Final Fantasy).
