k i rly want to get a phat (any color) and i dont no wut to do...i do not know if any1 else posted stuff like this...only ideas i could think of are:

TBH, it takes a real long time to get, and once you get it you put it on and walk around. wow i did it i got a phat. After awhile (a couple days-weeks) you lose interest.

 

 

 

whats the point? it sits on your head looking all pretty. it doesnt give stats, it doesnt give any special boosts of bonuses. after awhile you wonder why you bought it.

I'd say runescrafting is your best bet.

 

 

 

Buy some starter ess like 10k+ and make nats via the abyss.

I'm not sure how it would go with 99 Hunter, but I'd say, build a small capital (couple of millions) crafting runes, and then start merchanting your way to the phat.

Hunter-Quickest and safest way IMO, depending on your level you can get about 200-250/h, and they sell for 750-800ea depending on quantity. So doing the math now...150m/750=2m, so 2m chinchompas must be captured to reach your goal, which will take you a minimal of 10k hours,416 days,1 year a month and 20 days...you get the picture...

 

 

 

In the long run though, it's not really worth it. Like Andrew_s_2 said, you get a feeling of accomplishment when you buy the phat, but soon enough you start questioning what's the purpose of having one, when you could've spent that 150m raising a skill/skills to 99, or PKing. But nevertheless, I support you on your goal to 150m :)

from 63 hunter to 99, its about 39m if i remember correctly. But i'd suggest runecrafting because it's one of my favorite skills :D You could even make nats and then alch bows you fletch to grow many things at once. If you choose runecrafting, kill some rc pkers!! :twisted:

It's not 2 mils chinchompas, use you brain ffs

 

1 chinchompa = 750 gp

 

2m chinchompa = 1,5 bil

I remeber when I used to chase after money though, it makes the game less fun I'll tell you that, its far more fun when your playing just to level and skill, and when you do make money its an added bonus

 

 

 

But if your set on going straight for money

 

Do barrows until you have like 10mil

 

then maybe do a few chaos for onyx and make them into furies

 

that'll be easy to get up to about 20mil

 

 

 

after that you can either..

 

runecraft with all the cash you have, 20mil will buy about 200k pure ess which will make 200k nats that'll sel lfor 60mil, if your willing to do that work, and then you can go back to barrows or merchant and keep switching off tasks so you dont get bored

 

so maybe you do like..

Perhaps I am in the best position to answer (if you see what I mean). And FYI, purple phat is over 190 million.

 

 

 

First things first, no it's not impossible to get by skilling, I used nothing but the abyss.

 

 

 

If you're going to get it via the abyss, you got to expect to spend over a month rcing (2 months if you don't have 91 rc).

 

 

 

If you merchant, it could be anything. Some merchants can get several mills in a short amount of time, others don't. It may work for you, it may not. It certainly didn't work for me because I'm not the right kind of person but it may work for you.

 

 

 

Staking is the same as merchanting but with even higher risks (but also higher rewards)

 

 

 

When you get to low-income methods such as barrows, you run the risk, in the time it takes for you to get 2 mill, phats will have increased by 2 mill +. Making it near impossible to get a phat. Don't even bother using those methods to get a phat.

 

 

 

Even for methods like abyssal rcing, expect to make an extra 30-40 million gp because the phats will increase during that time. In my opinion, that's the hardest part of getting the partyhat because you feel like it keeps getting further and further away.

 

 

 

The best, but riskiest, method would be staking. Merchants can try things their way. Skillers will have a hell of a hard time. Monster hunters have a great potential to get the phats as well but the only reasonable methods that can get you there are dking and godwars dungeon. I'm actually surprised nobody mentioned these methods, they have potential.

 

 

 

Now for the rather interesting question: Is the phat worth it?

 

 

 

First of all, "value" =/= "utility"

 

 

 

What I mean is that phats are tokens of value. Just like skillcapes. If you go for one, you are not getting it to use for something else, you are getting it for other reasons.

 

 

 

People who go after phats want to show their potential, they feel a sense of accomplishment in getting an item that's extremely hard to get. Nobody goes after a phat for it's stats. They are "luxury goods", goods of conspicuous consumption, meaning that you go after them to show it off to others. Just like skillcapes. If you look at the "what is your dream outfit?" thread, the head item is often a partyhat.

 

 

 

People claim partyhats have no value or are somehow not worth it. The first claim is simply put, wrong, the second claim is a matter of personal opinion. The time taken will vary from person to person and since the concept of value varies from person to person the answer could be anything.

 

 

 

Is it worth spending over a year catching chinchompas?

 

 

 

Is it worth spending a month in the abyss?

 

 

 

Which parts of your real life are you willing to sacrifice in order to spend time to get this partyhat?

 

 

 

Is it worth risking 70mill on a stake to try and get the phat?

 

 

 

Is it worth training my stats to go kill armadyl and use the money i get there to get a phat?

 

 

 

Often times people will say that it's not worth it when they personally don't see any hope in getting one, or have tried to get one and failed.

 

 

 

Other rares like masks make a good compromise, or better placed goal. Even skillcapes can serve as a compromise (although, IMO, why choose? get both :wink: )

 

 

 

Is it worth it? that's up to you. Let no one make that decision for you, but let people explain you the circumstances so that you know what you're getting into
