the_god_of_soup
Well, I was perusing the magic guide on Tip.It and browsed about calculator, looking for a different way to get 99 Magic. I read one of the first spells, fire strike. Yes, fire strike, not bolt. It takes about 450,000 fire strikes to get there from 87 Magic. Is this at all realistic? Could I just go to an aggressive monster(or perhaps even just fail it on purpose, maybe on something like a black dragon, for maximum affect) and cast failed fire strikes? If not, what is the best way to get to 99 Magic from 87 with 20 million gp, in terms of speed, cost, or any other way to sort it? Yes, I'm willing to use it completely up, but I'd prefer not to. In advance: Thanks so much to everyone who answers, I know it's a lot of work, and it does not go unappreciated =D> . EDIT: See my post on the bottom of page 1. CampbellMC
Why not do the fire bolts on iron dragons? Chances are you will get many dragon drops so you can put them into more casts till you can afford 99 mage.
Dexek
Enchantment in mage training arena is pretty good. High alchemy is also ok, but slower. Fire strikes would take longer than fire bolts, but would be cheaper. You could also just cast a spell such as stun, although that can become expensive. schmuall
Why would you want the strikes to fail? every damage they do gives extra mage xp. Although it also give hp xp so if you want to keep that down... either way Good Luck! give F2P a penny and they want a dime; give P2P a quarter, they want 100,000 dollars, your car, house, boat, social security number, credit card numbers, drivers license, clothes on your back and everything you ever owned or interacted with ever

the_god_of_soup
READ THIS I've already tried enchantment, that was absolute hell. It took 3 days to do 2k enchants. Iron dragons: Don't I need to take anti-dragon pots in there? If not, I'd definitely do that! Perhaps I'll even do fire strikes on them if I don't need any pots or anything. Also, the more hp the better, I'm currently almost 83 hp, and I'm going for 95 or 99. Also, stuns are not the path for me, I need 90k, which is equal to 27m, 7m over my budget. I suppose I can do high alchs, although if there's a faster or cheaper method, I'd rather do that. But, if u get a dragon drops, it can pay more many casts. If you get lucky, and get a few, then you can even gain money. Its better to use bolts, as then you use less pots. Dexek
Curse - cheaper, slower, no HP I would suggest fire bolts on dragons. There is no chance it will take 2 years, unless you play 10 minutes per day, or bank constantly. My friend got 80-99 mage on fire bolts with blue drags in a few months, and he played 2-3 hours per day. Not to mention, he banked the bones and hides, so he was constantly banking. anonymouse_
READ THIS I've already tried enchantment, that was absolute hell. It took 3 days to do 2k enchants. How'd that happen? With onyx enchant, it's about 90k/hour, so 3k should have taken you like 2 hours. There is no magic way to train magic. If you want cheap and fast, then enchanting is the way to go. Don't bother with fire strike, it's a complete waste of time. Also, fire bolts on steel drags is a waste of money, and I speak from experience, having cast about 80k bolts on them (and not even getting 1/4 of my money back). the_god_of_soup
So, I think I've found my method. That magical method is.... High Alchemy! Buying green bodies for 4450 each(the price I've seen 80k bodies go for) and nature runes at 300 each(checked, 150k sold at 300 each), I will only lose 70 gp per body, a net loss of 9,520,000 gp total! This leaves me with 14m total cash, and an awesome cape. This is my best option, and is half the cost of enchanting, and less than double the cost of cursing, but four times as fast. Thanks guys for discussing and helping me to come to a decision, it's all very appreciated. If you still have something to add, or have a great method not listed on here, feel free to post still =). kakuke00799
i made 1-1.2k+ ench per hour at mta with onyx ench, it was cheap... 72.5k xp per hour aint bad compared to alch as it gives 65 xp per cast, not sure but i think you cant alch more than 1k per hour
CampbellMC
Your thread made it sound like you didnt want to alch, anyone in Runescape could tell you that alching is the cheapest way to 99. Alching is extremely boring though.
Artemis1330
Fire strike at pc. You still gain money overall, from the money gained after winning rounds. Alching is faster then fire bolt at iron/steels. enchanting is faster then alching. I think pc is fastest of those methods, not certain though. I'll look into it a bit. I am not a skiller, but i do some skills.
Nopheo
I can't believe all that discussion went on to realize that alching is the most cost effective method with some concern for speed. It is still very boring...
