JordanGM Posted November 3, 2007 Share Posted November 3, 2007 I was reading something on Jagex.Com and I read that Jagex's plan for 2007 was to create new games with their technologie. We intend to become a significant online operator in all the major gaming markets worldwide, developing and commercialising highly compelling online games that appeal to as wide an audience as possible, based on cutting edge technologies developed in-house. Our aim for 2007 is to continue to develop and improve RuneScape, while at the same time taking RuneScape into other non-english language markets following Germany. Its based on the same locations of RuneScape but is set way into the future.. like someone said, hopefully they dont work on this instead of RS. truffoo Posted November 4, 2007 Share Posted November 4, 2007 I made a topic just yesterday asking whether people thought that we were already in a form of RuneScape 3. I don't think a true RuneScape 3 will ever become an announced new game. RuneScape will always continue to be RuneScape. In terms of MechScape, it's quite logical to utilise exactly the same engine, and even the same world environment (The 7th Age?). It will be a completely different game though, and would have no systemic links into RuneScape (i.e., I don't think you'd be able to transfer your RuneScape character into MechScape like you did with RS1 to RS2). I'd take a stab that there will be aspects which would be familiar to RS players, but also different enough to be a justifiably new game (that RS players would also want to pay for!). Customer support would be common across both games, along with some of the design / development resources. However they would have to maintain a core design / development resource for each game because changing between them too often would be inefficient. It's interesting to see some of the domain names that Jagex have registered around MechScape, especially MechHQ. I wonder if that's a direct hit at a fan site .... I assume they don't really appreciate people taking advantage of really really worthless Runescape players like that(there is no "get rich" scheme, I assume the books teach you how to get off your [cabbage filter!] and runecraft, or merchant, more likely) but don't really have any legal grounds to tell them to cease and desist... so instead they demand that all Runescape pictures be removed from the sites. Mechscape sounds like fun, but that model is the exact opposite of cool. He's too fat and round, cool mechs have to be more anime-proportionate and edge-y. Strange they don't have Mechtips. =p That's cause they like us. Officially retired on 12/10/07, no drop parties because that might be "covertly trading wealth".
