They wouldn't use gold pieces in the future... Just because a company develops a second game doesn't mean they are going to stop working or pull any resources at all off the development of another game. You can't compare this to when rs2 came out. It is the same game, just a newer version and they wanted people to play their newer version so they halted all development for the older one. Jagex as a company will most likely have a completely different staff working on Mechscape. It will not interrupt the development of Runescape at all. It's no different than when another MMO comes out. Yes, Runescape players would give it a try, seeing as it's JAGeX, but it's not going to cause 3/4 of players to switch games.
