why is it that when doing Pest Control, theres always a group of people who have no idea what to do, and then when you try to help them (seriously being polite about it) they just get mad at you and call you a noob.... even though im at least 10 lvl's higher then them lol

UGH if anyone wants to make a PC group lvl 80+ contact me and well figure out a world and when good times to play are, so we can finally get those so sought after pest points to lvl our characters faster

One things, noob is an additude, not a lvl, secondly, people will always think of other ppl as stupid, and will treat as garbage (the ppl with IQ of 50-)

It's just a fact about rs's ppl

To answer your first question you must put yourself in the place of the other player. They are obviously new to minigame and most likely have not been playing the game for very long either. A higher level player comes along and offers advice to the new guys but in their arrogance they blow you off. They are obviously headstrong and feel they can fend for themselves, regardless of how little they actually know.

This brings me to my main point, with the introduction of pest control the combat system was severely compromised. Players could now gain fast levels (which is what you want), but this had the effect of people with less in-game experience gaining false experience. It used to be that a player could see a level 100+ and think, "hey, that player must have spent a lot of time leveling, they have to be experienced." Now we have players running around with levels that do not reflect their true knowledge of the game. I know combat level isn't a fail proof method of recognizing knowledge, there are many skillers who are extremely knowledgeable of the game, but nonetheless, combat level was a good indication of experience.

In regard to "even though im at least 10 lvl's higher then them", if you have been training at Pest Control then you very well could be a "noob". There is no way to know how much time a player has spent training outside of PC, therefore it is difficult to distinguish between a level 80 who trained on guards, hill giants, and lesser demons; a level 80 character could have just as easily trained to 40 then ran off to pest control.

I am confident that you are a fairly experienced and nice player, seeing how you offered to give pointers to players who seemed to be having a difficult time and that is very admirable, I wish there were more players with that kind of courtesy.

As for me, I'll be killing dust devils to train my attack to 99, hopefully I will find a dragon chainbody before then. You may like the fast way to a high level, I on the other hand will stick with a more classic approach.

Aulderic.png

I've killed over 20,000 dust devils while training to 99 attack and have still not gotten a dragon chain.

Morons and PC are inseperable.

QFT. I've had a level 120+ person ask me where Varrock was. I've seen a level 112 ask how you win in Castle Wars. Idiots existed before PC, but when those idiots went to PC, they came out as "high level idiots." It's disgusting.

1. Not everyone's experienced Pest Control. Bear with it.

2. Not everyone uses Pest Control to level. Anywhere in RuneScape is better leveling than that place.

3. Just because you're ten levels higher means diddly squat. You could have such a high level, but be lacking the maturity and coherence we'd expect from a person ten levels higher than myself.

the friends i know who do pc do i for the outfit rather then the crappy exp it now gives. and from your second half of your post seems more like a cheap way to advertise a pc team what with out 1 post count.

now like tuttle43 im going to do it the way most of us have done it for over 6 years. kill our monsters, earn our experiance and if we get a good item along the way we make profit.

let him/her play his/her own game... no need to lead people in pest control

other than that, high level idiots didn't necessarily use pc. the combat in this game can go far without teaching you a thing... i could easilky camp t the experiments or rock crabs until 120 combat, it'd have the same effect as pc, for the most part.

+1 I've had that several times :-s

Smaller equation

Idiots + PC = High level Idiots

That is a possibility, but I don't think they're too many 110+ floating around the black internet market. I think the players are just determined found pc, and camped.

Lets just all be arrogant and dont help newbs when they have no idea what they are doing. That way, they wont be arrogant and realise how much teamwork is important and we wont be affected by this.

I've not used PC for levelling for a while. I now plan to get the full Void Knight's sets and use their bonuses for safe fighting(E.G. Praying in Lletya to kill all the elves MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA). I mean, it's not normal armour is going to help me much when it comes to the fact that I don't need defence bonuses. >_>

ON-TOPIC: But yeah, I do find that irritating. I'm going around spreading the news of the portal weaknesses, and I say, "Strength doesn't fix anything!" then a guy in full Dharok's says "Mine does." And then we get about 12 spinners on the same portal and lose. Where are the rangers with Red Chinchompas when you need them? >_<;;

My friend, just started playing rs, just became a member is already showing more knowledge than a level 99 in the domain of mining  . I rest my case.

I do agree with you, but PC isn't really to blame, it just made it easier. Otherwise these idiots would just train on rock crabs or something.

"not giving a damn" is a matter of opinion, and quite a few people think it's sad when a "high level" doesn't know where basic location x is.

Ignoring the existence of a problem doesn't solve anything.

Playing PC with your friends doesn't really make any difference

I find it quite sad too, as they probably played for over a few years and don't know even where Lumbridge is.

I realised that after I posted, but I couldn't be bothered to edit it. Ignoring doesn't help, my mother tells me to ignore my brother when he pisses me off, and it doesn't help. I should have noticed it, though.

Wouldn't make a difference if they were [wagon] like those the topic starter is ranting about.

Ok, maybe the 120+ who asked where Varrock was was an idiot, but what if the level 112 didn't play minigames often? Or had quit for a long time and forgot how to play? Or what if they were simply a NEW MEMBER?

You can't call them an idiot just because they don't know something that you assumed was common knowledge.

I think that someone who is that high level and doesn't know common knowledge has either the memory of a goldfish or is, in fact, an idiot.

No need to beat around the bush. Especially when we have the answer already here. I always say to these people "no offense, but how can you not know where that place is?" The answer as always: "I dunno, I've only played PC lol"

Furthermore, the increase in ignorance, idiocy and decrease in common sense all coincide with the timeframe of PC. Hey if the boot fits...

Hmmm, true, but how would you define common knowledge? RS is infested with mini-games. I'm combat level 120 (no PC) and I have a total of 1967. Most mini-games, I've only tried once or twice. I have no idea how to win Castle Wars, because I never fancied the game. I've only ever done 3 or 4 Barrows runs. Still, it would be pretty harsh to call me an idiot because of that.

People play the game the way they want to. I prefer players who try to go for a good all-round gaming experience (not e.g. wasting their lives at PC or bandits), but even then it's hard to know how to be good at every aspect of the game.

Despite not knowing strategies (Strategies for castle wars just consist of using ancients/freezing fyi  ), you know what castle wars is, and I'm assuming you've at least tried it out once. Likewise for barrows, you've done it few times but you know what it is (and where it is).

Common knowledge is totally arbitrary, but I believe that not knowing the geographic location of certain key elements in this game strongly contributes to ignorance

Yeah, in my opinion the ideal player is the one who tries out all different kinds of things.
