Zombie Plans-Revised

Must zombies be only human? Why can birds or insects be effected by the zombie virus (I'm assuming its an infection). How would we be able to combat this when they can bypass most defences (walls, holes, etc.)? Wouldn't it be better to take the fight to them? After all if you have a problem you can't solve, its best to make it ... disappear.

Only humans re-animate/ are zombified. Read the guide.

Hey! I'm 13 and still like to think that I have contributed.

Here's an idea. Two sets of ditches 2m (~6 ft) wide, 3-4m (9-12 ft) deep spaced out so that the dirt from the holes will be able to make 2 walls, one in between and one on the inside of the ditches. This will take a good while, but we can start the first ditch/wall combination as a hole network and just keep going from there. Obviously, there'd be gates on opposite ends of the area. If possible, an exit only tunnel to escape the base when necessary might be used (cap the outside door in camouflage and make it only openable from the inside. This could take a long time if we want to make it suitable for use, but it's possible.

Zombies don't single out certain terrain as more or less likely to contain food. This would only protect against raiders.

Sig by me, in MS paint, but I'm still working on it.

Suggestions appreciated

We're not judging by age, Mage_Man is just pointing out that he is technically a kid.

That and had he responded, Mage_Man would have taken it further. We don't judge by age, we just get bored (cause I would have joined in with Mage_Man had it went further).

And I seriously hate typing out Mage_Man every time, more effort than it should be, all for the sake of you lot -.-.

then whats the threshhold to not be considered a "kid"? seeing as the age of adulthood is different to different people and places, where do you put yours at?

He was asking what I though, and seeing as here, and the UK you have to be 17 to drive by yourself I used that as an example. (Although here you have to have gotten your L's, done 120 hours with a licensed driver in the passenger seat and have gotten your P's to drive by yourself.)

For burning the bodies, does a zombie shed its clothing upon infection? Because, although obviously not as efficient as dousing it with some sort of fuel, cloth makes for a decent ignition source and a good wick to spread it around. Not a total job, but enough if we can't spare fuel.

Also, do zombies have self-preservation instinct?

They keep their clothes, if they were wearing any when they were infected. The clothes may be ripped off or otherwise come off as they move around as a zombie, so I'd say a good portion wouldn't have clothes on, or atleast not be fully covered by clothes.

And no. Zombies would walk into an inferno to get to one survivor in the center of it, nor would one try to block a melee attack.

Person in the middle would be someone who has committed a minor offence, left in there for x hours with a rifle and 2 random mags, which may be full, may be empty or may be partially used. the black circle around them is a cage so that the person is safe from zombies that aren't killed, and the red stuff is obviously fire. The pic is not to scale, as there would be some room between the cage and the fire, and the gaps in the cage would just be small enough to stick the end of the gun's barrel out of. If there are more zombies than bullets the person had better hope that no zombies survive the fire and have fluids get in the person's nose/eyes/ear/mouth. if they do then they will be shot. For 24 hours afterwards the person will be put in an isolated room in case they are infected. After 1 or 2 deaths due to this people will think twice before committing an offence any more. For major/repeated ones the fighting zombies for entertainment idea sounds good. ;)

If people get infected, why not leave them locked up in the cage? Then we have a zombie in a cage that can made to fight new offenders by putting them in the cage using their random bulleted rifles. That way we don't waste ammo and have a new, thrilling way of punishing people.

We should put a two foot deep ditch outside of the fire; the zombies will trip on it and will have trouble getting back to their feet while on fire.

But that makes it easier for the criminal to survive.

You'd probably want to have as many useful people as you can get, so I don't see why dying is something you'd need to have happen.

What a genius way to waste wood/gasoline/ammo. We're going to be in a group of 15 at max. We can't afford to pick off people at random.

Not 15, probably double that, once we actually get to our base, we locate other useful survivors and we recruit them, either that or we can "recruit" them.

Enough with the stupid punishment systems. If any of you tried to pull any of this in a group where I was leader, I would have three possible punishments.

1: Lowered food rations, or no food at all depending on the situation, for a time determined by the offense

2: Banishment from the group. They do something bad enough that they no longer are welcome in the group.

3: Death. If they attempt to, or succeed in murdering or raping or doing something purposeful to lead the downfall of the group, ie: destroying a barricade, destroying or hiding food etc.

We wouldn't have the time or resources to waste with elaborately stupid punishments. We'd be trying to survive, and if any of you suggested we punish anyone with any of these punishments in a group I was leading, you would be denied access to food for a few days. Or longer.

Bolded bit reminds me of Castle Wars, and the time I spent the whole game annoying some kid by burying him in 'cades. :P

On the no food for days idea is going to do a group more harm then the person, as they will rapidly run out of the energy to do much, such as labour or fighting zombies/raiders.

Main Weapon: Model 700 XCR Tactical Long Range

Secondary Weapon: Trench Knife

Preffered weapon setup?

Also, punishment is stupid. If somene genuinely does something bad, we tie them up, slit their throat destroy their brain, and throw 'em over the wall.

That setup looks pretty good except I'd have a revolver or semi-auto handgun as a secondary since with a trench knife you're getting closer than you want to the zombie. It's fine for a hand held weapon though since it is pretty effective.
