How do you feel when 'Smoking could ruin your health' and 'Stop smoking now' and 'Smoking gives you and everyone else cancer' campaigns get thrown at you? Do you feel regret, or do you ignore it, or what?

It's just that I don't think I could ever live with smoking, and the guilt that comes with passive smoking.

Oh and what is your stance on the comparison between marijuana and tobacco? In your opinion, should marijuana be legalised?

My parents smoke so I have nothing "against" smokers, but seeing them smoke definitely discourages me. No offense or anything but it is not particularly attractive. By the way, they smoke Malboro lights and my dad smokes cigars.

Do you enjoy cigars?

Would you go back to weed?

Does it affect your sex life? I've heard that kissing people who smoke tastes bad (or something?).

Does it ever cause money problems. It seems like $5 a day is a bit much?

Do you chain-smoke?

'S all i got for now.

Has it noticeably affected your athletic ability? Do you suck running long distances now?

Yes, and yes. My lung capacity and general fitness levels have definitely taken a big hit over the years.

I don't even take notice of any of the anti-smoking campaigns anymore, but I don't resent their being there. I try my best to ensure that my smoking doesn't upset anyone else.

As for marijuana, I'm not too fussed as to whether it is legalised, although I'm more in favour of it than not. I think as long as it's properly regulated and taxed it might well work out better.

Have you considered your later life, when you're elderly?

All that coughing and wheezing, phlegm constantly stuck in your throat, struggling to carry out daily tasks without becoming breathless, total discolouration of skin & teeth, wrinkles, sagging skin?

As far as I'm concerned, I'm far too young to be worrying about my life when I'm 60+. Also, like I said earlier, I might not smoke forever, so who knows what state my health will end up in.

Don't worry, I'm not easily offended and your opinion is your own.

I enjoy a cigar on 'special occasions' - Christmas, New Year and all that. I smoked a couple of cigars on holiday this year.

I still smoke weed, just not as ridiculously as I did when I was younger. I've got more restraint now, and I know when and where to smoke it.

I haven't noticed any negative influence on my sex life from smoking, but obviously girls who don't like smokers will be less keen if they see me smoking. But to be fair, I'm not that happy if someone won't give me a chance just because of a habit I have. I've been out with a few girls where I've promised not to smoke the first time we went out, just to give myself a bit of a chance. If I make a good impression then they're not too bothered about my smoking and we'll go out again. Obviously it can make your breath a bit funky, so I carry chewing gum everywhere, all the time.

As for monetary problems, it's never really come up. I suppose this would be the most immediate factor that'd cause me to quit anytime soon. I'd rather drink and do other things than smoke, so smoking would be the first of my vices to go.

Haha, no, I don't chain smoke. It would be difficult to make 10 cigarettes back to back last a whole day.

I'm pretty upset about this thread. You almost seem to be encouraging smoking by saying it is enjoyable. I know a person who smokes. They got cancer and had to have there larynx (viocebox) removed. They now talk through a machine. It's quite sad, really.

I don't think I've encouraged smoking at all. In fact, I think I've been pretty unbiased, especially for someone who smokes. All I'm doing is answering any questions people have - Lots of which I haven't thought about myself.

Smoking is an unhealthy habit, but it's not the worst thing you could do.

Does he not have a right to his opinion? He never stated anything as fact. He is not denying the negative effects of smoking.

I was never very into sports other than a bit of 5 a side football (soccer) every now and again, so I don't really regret it. Obviously anyone who is passionate about playing a sport to the best of their ability should avoid smoking.

If you had kids and they started when they were still in their teens, would you have any objections?

Well, if I was still smoking at the time it would be pretty hypocritical of me to object. All I could do would be tell them the facts. Without having kids it's hard to say, but I can guess that I wouldn't like the fact that they smoked.

If they were any younger than 16 I would probably play the age card, and tell them to stop until they were older.

Although I'll always argue against smoking, it's not anyone's place to say they can't.

Do you ever fear the possibility of an early death/complications?

It's not something I ever think about - I'm kind of a 'live in the moment' type of person.

Have you or anyone else in your family had to seek medical attention because of smoking?

And do your mother and older brother still smoke?

My aunt (who I never met) died of cancer, but I don't know if she was a smoker. And yes, my mum and brother still smoke.

If you are in a semi-crowded area (say a bus stop in the Winter), will you stop smoking so that other people around you don't have to smell it?

Referring to Question 1, would it affect your decision if a baby or a young child was there?

Assume that it's legal to do it there, but it would make the people around you smell the smoke. It is too cold outside to stand out there alone without being uncomfortably cold, so you don't want to go out either.

Going back to what someone else said, if you had kids in their early to mid teens, and they started smoking, would you try to get them to stop even if you were still smoking? Do you think that it's better to protect their future and also be hypocritical, or to not stop them?

What would you spend the ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã1000 a year you spend on [bleep]s on if you didnt smoke?
I know it's called "[bleep]s" there but I love how that post sounded :XD:

I don't think your scenario is very practical, because in my experience the temperature outside the bus stop is never much different from inside. But, if I understand you correctly, basically you're asking: "Which would you choose - Smoking inside and bothering a baby or young child, or waiting 20 minutes until the circumstances are better?"

If this is the case, then I would just wait a little while. But like I said, not a very practical scenario.

Let's pretend there's a foot of snow outside (the bus station has a roof) and there are benches inside... But let's say that you are stuck somewhere with a lot of people and you cannot leave (for some reason). Would you still smoke?

What would you say to smokers who are not yet addicted -- those that are just starting to try cigarettes?

What do you think about smokers who "don't inhale"?

Do you actually enjoy the smell of cigarettes, or does it simply "tickle your addction"? (hopefully that didn't come off as offensive)

In your opinion, what would be an effective advertising campaign to turn youth off wanting to try cigarettes?

Do you smoke hookah regularly? If so, how does it compare to cigarettes?

Do you consider yourself as a 'life life to the full while you've still got it' kind of person?

Sort of, but I'm not ridiculous about it. I don't really worry about anything, not too concerned about the very long term future, and if I want to do something, I'll do it - As long as it won't upset someone 'innocent'.

Do you regard smoking as a method to socialise with other smokers?

Not particularly, but thats not to say that I haven't met a lot of people while standing outside the pub having a cigarette.

Well in this highly unlikely scenario, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't smoke.

As a smoker, I don't think it would be my place to encourage or discourage anyone from picking up the habit

I don't really understand cigarette smokers who don't inhale, obviously it's fine for cigars. It might be better for your lungs, but it just switches the risk to mouth cancer.

I enjoy the smell of cigarette brands I like, Lambert and Butler especially. There are plenty of cigarettes I don't like the smell of.

I don't know if there is any effective method of discouraging people from trying smoking, short of penalising them in taxes or medical bills.

I don't smoke a hookah regularly, but have done on a few occasions. The smoke tends to feel a lot thicker, and whenever I've used it the tobacco has been flavoured.
