Things that will be missed

After reading the update news today, i have decided that the essence of runescape is gone. Back when I played RS i enjoyed the freeness, the ability to basically do what I want, whether it be to treck around the wilderness with a bunch of friends, hunting down PKers, or hanging out in world 2 trying to catch the best deal on an item.

 

 

 

With the additions to the duel arena, wilderness, and merchanting, I think the essence of what runescape used to be, is completely gone. I used to love merchanting, the thrill of getting a great deal on a rare, or the fun of hunting a player down in a huge wild, and the excitment of winning a duel worth 100m gp by 3 hit points. all of these fun things are gone from RS, and with them being gone, RS has lost its flare.

I'm wondering what jagex is thinking after all these riots/rants. It could be, "let em yell, we don't give one." or "Darn, we should've seen this coming, quick! FIX THIS!" or "we'll try to do some things to fix this, but we're sticking to most of our stuff.

Most likely its either the third choice, but with much less change involved.

I think you hit the nail on the head with why im retiring. I loved runescape for the feeling of freedom, it felt more real than a regular game: if your buddy needs a tool or a weapon you could lend him yours. if you wanted the adrenalin rush of doing something incredibly risky.. staking a large amount, going pking in maxed bonuses, hitting a dangerous dungeon knowing that if you die you lose your stuff then you could go do it.

 

 

 

With these updates the game feels so much more structured. 'If you want to do this activity, you have to do it this way' kind of mentality. These reasons, and the fact that my favourite things were boss killing and pking are the reasons i judt don't want to play anymore. I'm grateful for the memories and friends i have from this game, but i think it's time to move on.

 

 

 

EDIT: I just went to give the bounty hunter game a second chance and it pretty much confirmed what i said in this post..

 

 

 

Ok, so i enter the game on my own, in standard cheap tank gear (full rune, blk d hide etc) and bump into smellysocks and a couple other people. we team up and go hunting. I get an easy kill and the drop was a few shark and a superset.. i didnt need but a team mate did.. i drop a few shark and loot then go to trade: 'you cannot trade in this area' ok.. that kinda sucks, guess i'll just drop the superset and get my shark back: 'you cannot drop items worth over 1000gp in this area' for real? despite the fact that my items won't show up to anyone, i cant drop them. i have to spend time combining, emptying and dropping vials.

 

 

 

a little later we get a nice full rune pk.. it was my kill, but of course i can't share the loot with my team mates (they helped a lot btw.. ty guys if you read this) i feel bad having to run off with everything. i then try to escape through the portal but i have a 'penalty against me' or something, meaning i have to stand there for 3 minutes on very little food and pray hoping i dont get attacked. of course.. another clan shows up and i get piled, and thanks to the 'penalty' i can't even protect 1 item. fun pk trip :-k

I quit, and was going to try MechScape when it came out. After the Duel Arena update I was skeptical about trying MechScape, now theres no way I'm supporting Jagex by playing their silly little games anymore. Unless its super-amazing then theres no chance of me playing.

 

 

 

My routine on Mondays is still the same even know that I quit, come home from school, check runescape.com, homework. I come home, check the site and am stunned. I still can't believe they actually did it.

Actually, price increase. Bots won't be around to fill up the game with raw materials, so the prices on many things will inflate. Basically, merchanters will be in heaven up until they actually need to get the stuff that they just sold away because they happened to have it when the prices when *zzzzooooooooooooooooooooomm* upwards.

My friend got hacked a month ago and hasn't been able to recover his account. He gave me 23m to hold because he knew he had a keylogger. He still hasn't gotten his account back and if January arrives I will never be able to pay him back.

- no trading cannonballs for steel bars

 

- no trading fletching supplies for finished products

 

- no giving double nats

 

- no trading hides for range armor sets

 

- no running bones to someone at your altar

- no running planks for someone

 

- no training firemaking and woodcutting together. One person cuts the logs and gives to someone else to burn.

 

- no hiring people to tan your hides for you

 

- no giving free loads of fish to people when you're power fishing

- We Play To PK- DEFINED- PLAYER-KILL.... NOT RUNESCAPE-KILL

 

- No X-Mas Gifts, No helpin freinds!
