Various players are suddenly becoming banned by Jagex for "offensive usernames." However, whether or not their username is offensive, that is not the point. The point is the way Jagex chooses to deal with this. Here is an example of my friend who has been sentenced to a ban in five days:

 

 

 

Was having fun with MM at bounty hunter (ran into and beat foe btw :P) Then got a message from mod katie...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Went to check my messages and

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I can trade all my stuff off and get "2 months free members". Free my [wagon] i've got 318 days left on faken. 0 black marks.

 

 

 

First they take my wildy, then they take my 4th good account.

What are we to do now? There are accounts all over receiving the same messages that are not offensive. The discussion here is about Jagex's hypocrisy in breaking their own rules and banning people for no reason.

I've seen messages like this floating around the Rants forums on the RuneScape website, I wasn't sure if they were for real but this sums it up.

 

 

 

All I can say is WOW....just WOW! That name does not look or seem offensive to me at all one bit. It really sucks too that the poor guy paid by cash for a whole year's worth of membership and once you pay by cash according to Jagex's TOS you can't be refunded for that if your character is banned.

 

 

 

Although it is nice of them to offer him a months free membership it doesn't make up for his time and dedication to the game. Personally if it were me and I had that much time left on game I would try and pursue the issue in court with Jagex Ltd.

Think of the hours poured into any account of any standing... And then to get banned for no reason? Anyone remember Limparse? Same situation. Maybe JaGex is just banning players they don't like knowing, even with this alternative, they may very well quit.

This isn't about him being banned for his name, it's about how they're allowing him to break the rules. Furthermore, the people who have been banned in the past for this same reason were not given special treatment. Why are they suddenly giving special treatment to particular players?

 

 

 

If they are trying to make amends by paying for a month of free membership why don't they just change his name or give his new account the same stats as his previous one?

I think it may be something to do with pures. most pures are seriously pissed about the new updates and maybe they think they can reduce the complaints by reducing the pures.

It's funny that when their crusade against RWT is in full swing, JaGex then chooses to violate their own rules. This begs the question: How, then, can they be agains RWT?

You know, pronouncing that as any LITERATE person would, I can't find any offensive meaning.
