Star_Fox
with the unbalanced trade coming up, I'm guessing that there will be no prices rising cause of the 3k limit. since RWT is gone, i dont think rares would be leaving the community now that players have a lower chance of getting banned. would investing still be possible with this update? bedman
I think they can still rise through the GE. Anyway, I think we can expect some interesting changes for them, thats for sure. But obsolete, dunno... A Guide to Chinning in Ape atoll: up to 325kxp/h!
Smackapotato
Rares have always been technically obsolete, worth a bloody lot, but not usable. But I think prices could still go up/down, just slower and with no dangerous peaks. EDIT - Signature far exceeds our sig limits but since it's so colourful you can keep it. Sledge
All trading of rares will be forced into the Grand Exchange, this will make the price updates of rares much more common (but still uncommon for phats, crackers will probably still take a year to update unless things change) Retired Moriquendi StaffMori WebsiteMori ForumsMori Memberlist
whocares
We've already seen that Jagex doesn't even know their own market prices. They don't update the GE prices often enough, so I dont think this will be a functional economy unless Jagex changes their actions.

qeltar
They know this, and they did try to do significant research before setting prices. You don't actually believe that, do you? How much "significant research" could they have done if the GE started out with rune boots at 180k, or any of the other whoppers that were in there? Hell, they still have yak hide armor pieces at 3k-4k a piece, and dragon shield left halves at over 400k. In Mod Mark's sticky, he said they would start trying to fix prices, relying on player's posts on the prices. The sticky listing bad prices has been up there for what, three weeks now? Ya, right. Have you seen the "offensive" name bans occuring recently? Suddenly immature abuse reports are receiving a LOT more attention... If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased. The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? NukeMarine
Jagex knew the average price of items because it monitored ACTUAL PLAYER TRADES!!! You, the player, and the 6 million other players, continually traded ores, rares, weapons, herbs and other items ALL THE TIME. When you paid cash for your items, Jagex can easily track that. Jagex could tell the average price of items people were ACTUALLY PAYING. Note Advertising what they were paying (such as forums), but the end trade as in Player A and Player B hit accept. Now, with the GE, it shows there's a slight flaw. People were paying more for items before the GE because it was inconvenient. Now with convenience, people want to pay less. This is very simple as a concept. Of course, I will say Jagex could do with the following: More displayed average prices at the NPC's, very easy to do with tabs. Don't just show ores, show bars. Don't just show one type of armor sets, show them all (tabbed) and some weapons too. Update prices hourly, but let the average be decided over the last day. Remove the lower limit price of ALL items that alc for less than cost of a nature rune (but not lower than a store would buy it for). I personally believe thats what the Grand Exchange was designed to do. I've never seen Sixth Sense nor Inception nor many other popular movies and I intend to keep it that way. Embraced
With RWT, Staking, Pking gone. Will rares not drop as these were quite alot of peoples main money makers. (or money buying -.- ). P2P offers more and better ways of making money than f2p. That's one of the cons you just have to play with if you don't feel like having 1 bigmac meal less per month. warren211
Well things like the Pumpkin, disk of returning, and halfwine might be obsolete because for the pumpkin and wine, you might easily consume it instead of trading. and for all 3, you cant wear them to show them off. But for p hats and santas, they'll keep going up. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. monkeyboo2
They will start to decline fairly fast after 2008 probably because no-one can gather the money anymore to afford one, There will be very very very few new people entering the rares market, especially the phat market; so prices will be forced down to dirt level eventually. Yeah...Some people just go out of their way to ruin other peoples fun.Sounds like Jagex to me...
