I had some kind of serious middle ear infection, so I had to miss from school for 4 days. It makes about 20 absences total (if there wasn't STAR testing, it'd be more).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We have a rule that we have to excuse our absences withing 5 days. Right now I don't see any way how can I get this excused, tomorrow it will be 4th day and 5th day will be Saturday and school is closed then.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I haven't had a chance to visit doctor. As I understand, my parent needs to agree with everything I do. My mother has been away somewhere with her "boyfriends" like she always is and my father is in Estonia for about a year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If we get about 10 absences (a little bit less, I believe), then I think that we'll fail the class.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Is there any kind of possibility for me to finish that class? I am not sure about how strict they are, since I haven't been to the USA for a long time, only a few months and these are my first absences. I hope I can finish the class... my grades are A's and B's and I don't want to fail this class because of some stupid absences.

any how just get the note and explain to them your situation, if you have a b grades they will see you are dedicated to your schooling and will help you out

Doctors note. If you don't have one, here at least, you have to go before the board of administrators and essentially beg for your credits, if they say no, you fail.

BTW, I know I need a doctors note. I just don't have enough time to get it in time. :( And I am sure that I'll need my mother who can't really speak English (she can, but not a lot :P) to be there, I even needed my parent to be with me when I signed up to the library. :shock:

Yeah, and the least you could do is have your mom write a note saying where you've been, and you can turn in the doctors note later. If you make sure they understand the situation, they won't fail you.

Here its 12 absences per semester. Excused or not. It depends on your school I guess. We're like the only school in the province who don't give exam exemptions.

I missed 52 out of 90 days the first semester because of medical reasons (heart surgery, mishaps, etc etc) and I finished the first semester with a 0.833 GPA.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I haven't missed a day since the second semester started and now I'm almost 3/4 done with the second semester. My report card for the third quarter was 4.0, and I still have it now :)

I live in America and I managed to miss 148 out of 180 days and pass with a 3.9 GPA. They even put me in the next grade which I didn't think was going to happen.

You just call it in and bring in the note when you get back.

don't worry I was absent for about 67 days out of 180 something IIRC(and the school year isn't over yet even). Those of course weren't all sicknesses since naturally I'm a healthy person, most of them were skipped days or when I actually went to school but left during the day with my friends because work was putting too much pressure on us.

I think the countdown starts after your last absence and Holidays, saturdays,sundays and other offdays dont count

Here you can't miss more than 10% of school for the whole year. If you don't get excused for your absense's the child welfare place has to investigate your family. Hasnt happend to me yet.

Dang!!!! at my school its like 5 or so, and you get saturday school hours where basically you have to go to school on a saturday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anyways I dont think Saturday and Sunday counts as the days. 3 days is nothing. dont sweat about it, I dont think they fail you for 3 days...they'll let u make up the work...if not they should.

I wouldn't know how the school systems work since i've been homeschooled all my life thus far. If I'm sick I can just do extra work later or I can if I'm able just do it anyways since its here at home. I don't have to worry about missing days. I consider myself lucky :lol:

From the first day you return back from an absence, you had 3 TEACHING days to explain it.

 

 

 

If you didn't, you usually got a detention (oh wow, one luch break lost).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you managed to miss x% of the school year, it didn't really matter.

I missed two days for college visits, missed time for AP testing, and am missing the day after prom... and I'm in danger of failing this marking period for absences! It's INSANE.

I'm in grade 12, Ive missed 15 days out of 50 and my average is still above 80%. All of my classes are university preparation level courses and all of the absences are skips.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It can be done quite easily as long as you pick days you know will have a light workload and make sure you know the material come test time.

LOL our late polocy is cool though, there are 2 free lates a month, but i have been late only 1 a month this semester, and none last sememester.

For us if you are absent 10 times a year you fail all of your classes and have to stay back.

Which part of Canada are you in? If you have 7 lates, you get suspended here in my school =(

i live in southren ontario, but the prefence for lates is up to the school. at my school you get 7 lates then a detention too... hmm same school lol?
