A psychological decision

So, I was surfing 4chan (Ya, this is gonna be a real shocker), and I came across this thread (Don't worry about the image, it was the text that got me).

So anyways I will quote the text.

You wake to find yourself in a plain room with two doors opposite each other and a note on the table. Reading the note, you find that you have been selected for a scientific study into human psychology.

The note tells you that the experiment takes place over the next 20 years, and you may not leave until that time is up. It tells you to press button A to open room A or B to open room B. By opening one door, you permanently lock the other door. By pressing both buttons simultaneously, you permanently lock both.

Behind door A is a hemispherical room with radius twice your height, in which you would be constantly observed. If you enter that room, you may request, by speaking into the microphone in that room, to have an identical clone of any person you name or describe brought to you, including real life versions of fictional characters. The clone will obey whatever you command without question. You may switch your clone for another human once every month, but if you want to get rid of your clone you can kill it without any consequences. The clone CANNOT speak. It̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s like a zombie that can obey basic instructions like ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åbend over̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

Well, before deciding, I'd try every possible way I could to get out of there. If I fail, door B without a doubt.

Room A is insanity. Seriously, a robot looking like any person you want that comes naked? That's just twisted; insanity is garanteed. And if you can't handle it anymore, you can't even kill yourself.

Door B, shoot the lock and escape.

Unfortunately, this would not work in real life... So I would actually go for door A(when I get out, I'll only be 34 years old. No biggie). Besides, if I wanted to kill myself I could just starve myself, or knock my head against the wall extremely hard, and very quickly so that they don't have time to interrupt me ::'

Spirrus and highlanders, you sure you guys would do that? Whats bad about a little insanity? You are gaurenteed to make it through pretty much, and you could always go into rehab after 20 years. Also after seeing some of the responses on 4chan, there are possibilities built into there that you dont know of. Perhaps you can wish for money, and be the richest person after you get out? We dont know that, but it could be possible.

And Nadril, not sure if thats possible. It could be assumed that you are an idiot and they let you die :P Might work out your way though.

I would either take the gun and the bullet and shoot the scientists, or choose choice A. Seriously A, because it wouldnt be that bad of a life if you could have any item you want that isnt electic...I could have company, good foods, and a comfortable living space..

LOL

I would go for A no problem. Not doing anything for 20 years might be nice. Just gimme a huge book of word search puzzles and I'm content. Seriously. I could do those forever.

Oh, and Da_Latios idea isn't bad either.

Hmm, for A: Is there any chance for sex? (human female, no robot weirdo imposter stuff) 'Cause 20 years without it would be a bit difficult.

I only think there's the clone... but you're being watched 24 hours a day.

You can get a clone of anyone. Meaning, if you want a clone of Jessica Alba, you would get one that looks exactly like her. She can't speak however. She would still be a female human.

Anyways, I would easily take door A. No electronics is a big, big draw back to what my normal hobbies are, but I would still do it. If that hypothetical situation existed where we can get anything we want as well as a clone of anyone we want, I would volunteer to do it.

Being watched is no problem lol, but clone-shagging is not my cup of tea.

Guess B then.

I would choose Door B - the gun and the bullet. Because once I got out, my family would probably not remember me and my girlfriend wouldn't remember me either and would probably have another guy after 20 years. Sure the food and everything would be nice. The robot would get boring after a while guys and girls. You would more than likely fall into a deep depression and just wait for the end to come. Which wouldn't come in Door A since they force feed you. So it would be fruitless. So I choose door B. Because I would rather just get the pain and stuff over with and not live after 20 years with no one remembering who I am or what I done.

Aural stimulation would be the thing that is most lacking in this situation. Because no electronics = no speakers, you would have to make noise manually. A player piano is mechanical, not electronic so you would have to do something along those lines. Remember the diameter of this room is only twice as long as your height, so this is a very small space.

Really not sure. If I chose door A, being able to do nothing except have sex and eat for 20 years would, surprisingly, probably get a bit boring.

Then again, if I shot myself, I'd miss out on potentially another 40+ years of life once I'd gotten out.

I'd say I'd spend a fair amount of time not pressing either buttn, but in the end, I'd probably choose door A.

EDIT: You say I could ask for any non-electrical object, could I get a guitar + other acoustic instruments and a pen and paper? If so, door A hands down. Particularly with the addition of the clone being able to perform any non-harmful reuqest I ask (you could always ask it to play a song you want to hear, or teach you something), I'd be a gun at guitar once I got out. Also, I could always work out and finally get fit, or read. As you actually think about it, there are so many possibilities with door A. The only drawback being not being able to communicate with anyone.

Cool.

Where the hell is everyone reading this "robot" stuff? You are like the fifth person to mention a robot, robots were never mentioned, in fact it said no electronics.
