The true blame lies in laziness and greed.

Jagex is to blame? I always thought so...

in a way yes and no

yes: they made the update

no:what other option did they have?

Gamertag: EFs Predator.

Games I play: Halo 3, Halo wars.

Yea, much like how murderers aren't to blame for the people they kill.

Seriously, if pedestrians would stop getting in the way of their bullets, knifes, and fast moving vehicles, maybe they wouldn't have such a problem with getting killed :wall: .

So what you're saying is that the people who buy the gold are the problem? Well that is the problem and I would have thought that most people know its the buyers not the farmers. Gold farmers were not the cause but an effect; people were too lazy to work for their money/items so they would pay someone else to do it for them.

I think its time for us to lay this debate to rest.

Woodcutting does not raise your combat level because most people do not play as yew trees.

Wrong. Goldfarmers are never the effect. I played Tabula Rasa during its beta last March until its release last year. The instant the servers went live, the goldfarmers were there to start. Money is basically useless in the game as there's plenty of it and nothing's really that expensive, but they're still trying. Nobody buys the gold, but the goldfarmers are still there trying to sell it.

in a sense it wasnt the bots/gold farmers. It was people who were too lazy to work for money so they tried to get an edge, which provided buisness for others.

gold farmers < people ready to buy gold < human nature < the universe < ...?

That may be but if people didn't buy the gold then the gold farmers would eventually stop/ change to another game because why continue if there is no demand for the product?

They could've stopped bots relatively easily.

You know when you post to many comments on youtube or sign up for a game/email account and you get that thingy with the crazy letters that you have to type in?

Well if Jagex did that they they wouldve been able to stop the bots that were making bots.

I tired suggesting it but seeing as it had the word "email" in it, they dicided to lock the thread and ignore my sent message.

I find it kind of amazing that players [like you] who think they have the end-all be-all suggestion to stop RWT show up, post their suggestion, and don't realize how bad it is. CAPTCHA can't be used to stop bots ingame, and all it takes is five humans anywhere around the world to create a bot account. Seriously kid, if you don't have a clue, don't post.

Anyway, people are indeed responsible for gold farmers and their existence. But that's not to say that just one party is to be blamed at all. It was really a mix of (illegit) players and (illegit) companies that did it.

I know, seriously. People should learn how to dodge bullets and knifes.

But yah goldfarmers are responsible for RWT

WONGTONG IS THE BEST AND IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN ME

#1 Wongtong stalker.

Im looking for some No Limit soldiers!

Part of the blame lies with jagex, part of it with the buyers of the gold, and part of it with the sellers of the gold...but in the end each party had justifiable reasons to do what they did so that blame means nothing as far as I'm concerned.

The game was changed, not much we can do about it, it's in the past, and no grudge will be held by me.

May the presents of our lord and savior, Santa, be with you this holiday season!

Bots already outsmarted this, in RSC you would get tired and you'd have to go to sleep. When you were sleeping, you'd have to type the CAPTCHA that was shown in to a little box at the bottom. My memory is a little hazy on this subject, as I don't have an RSC account and only watched a friend play sometimes when I didn't have anything better to do. I joined a few weeks after RS2 was launched.

The game.

Why in gods name is this even allowed to be discussed?

Gold farming Bots' main reason for existing was to trade all that wonderful gold and those items to a main account to sell for cash.

RWTing, right there. Period.

Jagex did what they could to try and stop it, it's going on a little bit with BH, but other than that, the whole buying Gold aspect is kinda dead, so shouldn't this topic be dead as well?

Taking a Playstation 3 break.

You're basically saying, its not George Bush's fault for the war in Iraq, its the soldiers fault for taking a job in the army, and feeding the country with the resources needed to continue the war...

Gold Farmers started real-world trading and players purchased the goods, creating a demand for Runescape gold...

...

Bush started the war, yet people enrole in the army for money/honour, thus the war continues...

Oh, and if you quote this, dont tell me theres a huge difference the two with regards to scale, im fully aware of that -.-

No, it's more like saying in that case, that it's saddam's fault.

How so? Saddam is not providing him with a business, an opportunity or any money... If anything, Saddam is JagEx... The bastard trying to kill the RWT, yet they find more inventive ways to RWT.

At the end of the day, RWT is the fault of RWT... Not players, not JagEx, not anyone... but RWT.

Its because of goldfarmers that RWT was started. They sold the gold, they advertised, they got the gold.

Its the people that bought the gold that kept it alive.

BOO

going back to what someone posted about the murders,

if someones gets murdered is its the polices fault?

No, but they could have stopped it - exactly what jagex did, stop rwt before it happened

(murder is far to excess to use as an analog in sense of scale but proves the point well)

and of course gold farmers are to blame, if i sell guns but dont shoot them im not part of a gun problem?

i cant justify selling them just because there is a market for it either thats just [developmentally delayed]ed

Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,

I like to think I walk this line every day.

Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man.

You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs.

The true blame lies in laziness and greed.

I think my head is going to explode from this attack of the stupids :wall:
