If UAC is on, Vista puts all the Setup files and stuff into a hidden folder instead of the one you choose. Doesn't mean you have to download it again, just close and re-open. I'll probably spend the better part of an hour installing the power supply and card though, but when I do, i'll get AoC sometime in August, when I have more money. For now, i'll have Oblivion, despite the fact it wasn't optimized all that well. nine naked men Posted June 23, 2008 Share Posted June 23, 2008 The GFX Specs were pretty underestimated. Lagging like a [bleep] even in Lowest Quality. Good fun, though. Playing as a Conqueror on Tyranny, Level 6 at the moment. Combat System is pretty fun, as well. Is there a specific way to attack when you're not comboing? Or do you just button-slam the parts least shielded? Tempest of Set Core Revision Adjustments * Storm Field is now limited to affection 3 targets at a time. * Titanic Storm now additionally increases the number of targets affected by Storm Field by 50%. * Lightning Strike no longer has a cooldown. * The primary damage range of Lightning Strike has adjusted to be more consistent, the average damage remains the same * Lightning Strike has been modified to deal 40% splash damage to 3 targets instead of pure AoE damage * Pillar Lightning rank 2 and 3 now additionally increase the number of targets affected by Lightning Strike splash damage. * Fury of the Storm has been decreased from 60% to 40% critical damage modifier at max rank Storm field is really the only one I'm sad about, I'm hoping that Titanic storm will be 50% per feat point and not 50% total. That way I could AoE 6 at once. Still limiting it like that is kind of annoying, but I see why they did it. Tempest was a really fast leveling class. Nadril Posted June 23, 2008 Author Share Posted June 23, 2008 The biggest thing I would like to know is if "Tempest storm" will be 50% increased targets total, or 50% per point. If it is 50% per point that isn't bad at all (still lets us take 6 which is more than enough) and if it's 50% that still comes out to like ~4.5. I too understand what they were getting at. Lightning strike I think was nerfed purely because of the burst potential, although I wonder how much of a damage hit it took. Still the no CD on it helps a lot for dealing damage so it's not bad if it is a small hit to the damage. The good thing is I caught up to my conq on my ToS just in time (57 now). And even still, however, I think I can take 6 mobs just fine with cooldowns. Our 1m CD nuke doesn't seem to have taken a hit, for example. Overall I just hope people stop [bleep]ing about Tempest of Set being overpowered, because it has gotten old. The good thing about this nerf is that all the scrubs playing the class will run back to their main while the actual players who enjoy the class will stick with it. And while I loved AoE grinding I do realize it was a problem and am just glad they didn't nerf the damage. At any rate even if it is 4-5 targets (thinking ~5 it would round to) that is a very respectful number to AoE at once. My post on massively.com about the patch notes. Now that I've had time to think about them they aren't that big of a deal, and certainly don't hamper our PvP viability. While lightning strike may do less damage as a ToS I use storm field and charged blast in PvP encounters, using my 1m CD lightning skill (hits for ~1k dmg) as burst. Sounds fun. I usually break for PvP now and then when I first enter a zone, mostly because I'm ~50 and all the others are like 55/56 or so. I've still been getting into some great PvP however. my favorite PvP encounters though are the ones that after everything is said and done you both compliment either. Bit of a story: I was fighting a similar level necro. These guys can often give me problems, but only good ones. Most of them just stand still and eat my storm field and then wonder why the die. Anyways, I was fighting this guy and he kited extremely well, got me very close a few times we fought. Hell, even one time he did some unspeakable burst damage to me which was insane. I think we ended the fights with me dying once and him dying 3 times. Afterwards he messaged me saying I was a great ToS, and I told him likewise. Really shocked me because it is generally at that point when I get a PM going "nerfnerfnerfnerfnerf" or "[bleep]ing ToS". Had a pretty good chat with the guy. Got a few in Atzels Fortress but hard to find a group for that place. Trying to find a group to grind with atm. 3262700 XP (I think) from 79-80. Should be fun. (and it sets right next to an OC processor). All I have is the stock Intel fan cooler. I'm not gonna do any overclocking, so I don't know if that'll be enough. If I need to get a cooler or something, I'll probably need to get a really cheap one. I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal. Most don't realize that even a conq can get enough HP regen with a potion to pretty much be unkillable save for extreme damage. My ToS hit 58 last night, and actually had a chat with one of the GM's about a quest problem. I was amazed, I got responded to within 10 minutes about it and the person was very friendly. While she couldn't do anything to help me with the problem she did assure me that it is a known issue with funcom and they should hopefully have a fix for it soon (read: next patch). Nice person, even chatted with her a bit after that. :P Also I'm starting to feel like I'm writing too much about this game on massively.com, haha. But I can't help it -- every AoC article there is there is always a kid or two who proclaims the game is horrible. I know it shouldn't bother me, but I really do enjoy the game and don't want people to get the wrong idea from jaded gamers. --- ps: the ToS nerf is [bleep]ing funny. After playing a bit last night I don't even know if it constitued as a nerf, all it did was lower the leveling speed a bit for 30-50. After you get 50 or so you can get Titanic storm which lets it hit 5 targets at once, which is more than enough to take at once. I mean, between you guys and me I can still take out 5 mobs my level in 12-15 seconds. Less if I use my 1m CD spell. Oh and lightning strike was honestly buffed more than nerfed. No CD from a 2s CD and it's damage only got adjusted so that it was a higher minimum and lower maximum. Less burst and more sustainability. He keeps getting some memory error or something and keeps telling me how huge the problem is and how widespread it is, making AoC in essence a crappy game. I just look at him like, "ok whatever". I've been arguing with this guy (Lethality) over the game. I don't think he is going to get what I'm saying though.
