marcusc13
I have COPIED this of the runescape fourms so it is not my work. I believe it to be true. ~ The Rule ~ "If you buy ANY item on the GRAND EXCHAGE, no matter how many quantities, or the price, you will not be able to sell the same item for another four hours. This also works the same with selling the item. ~ Examples ~ If I were to buy one fire rune, at any price (or any other item in the game) at 6 PM. If I then put that fire rune on the Grand Exchange, at any price it will not sell. You have to wait 4 hours. So it will start selling at 10PM. Similary, if you sold one Rune Platebody, at any price )or any other item) at 7 AM. Then you went to buy a Rune Platebody at any price, you will not be able to buy it. You will need to wait 4 hours. So you will be able to buy at 11 AM. PLEASE NOTE IT IS THE ITEM THAT YOU TRADE ON THE GRAND EXCHANGE, NOT HOW MANY YOU TRADE OR AT THE PRICE. So you can't buy a Fire rune at 9 gp and try selling at 10 go a you have to wait 4 hours. ~ Why? ~ Jagex did this update, but didn't inform the users very well, hence why I am saying this. It was to stop manipulators of prices making masses of money. For example, before the updat people used to buy an item and sell for more on the Exchange (merchant). For example buying a dragon chain 100K under the medium and then selling it at medium making 100K.

marcusc13
Well I feel dumb then i just recently started playing again so i didn't know. I was shocked to find out.
Carl
Well yeah, methinks it's kinda obvious. As I said before, on a different thread that I think these rules were implemented so there's still a sense of player trading when buying and selling. It does make sense, but not as much to stop mrchants alike from, well, merchanting :| I hope they're taken out as it's what I use most. ~Carl RIP Michaelangelopolous
Omali
Yea, there was a thread that got deleted in the massive rollback, detailing what quantity limits are on each item.

magician_xy
Well, that would explain why I've been having trouble buying and selling my rune sets... Eh, oh well. Now that I know that, I can be more patient, rather than thinking Am I the only one on runescape who wants to someone to buy my rune set? This is taking forever!!! #-o I'm 100% free-to-play!!! InkofDeath
It's a really idiotic function in the GE, all there is too it. :wall:
KingJD
The concept of the GE is great... the regulations and stuff they put in it are not so much. Prices don't move enough.. quantity caps.. reselling time limits.. lets take a look at treasure trails.. you have to wear a stupid outfit that you never use to get your either next clue or reward.. you dont want those items for more than 10 minutes and yet you can't resell them and get your money back unless you find someone else who happens to be doing treasure trails and wants to buy your rune warhammer.. because no one else wants to buy it anyways! pikachu54673
Do you have the link to the forum page? I would like to know if this is a new or old update, because it might effect my merchenting if it's new. Nope, this is pretty old, it wasn't out at the very start. But now it is, and welll, we all have to deal with it now I suppose. Hope your merchanting goes well, I stopped after I got membership (back with the old, less badly-improved Grand Exchange) ~Carl RIP Michaelangelopolous
ice age mage
God I think Jagex is slapping every person who had enough skill in pking or merchanting who could actually earn decent money. Dumb kids ftw! Let see the consequences of forced equality not like that's been done before...Wait 1991 everyone left didn't they..Nah that's not going to happen it's just a video game and people are free to stop any time and move on to many other similar games. Tbfgraphx14
What if it is a different one of the same item? You're just for say selling the one you already had in your bank? Tbfgraphx14Happy to find I'm not the only one who eats glass.
Star_Fox
Now i feel stupid because i didn't know this. agrees* well no more merchanting but that didn't stop me from making 3m out of my bandos set.
Julius Casar
Yeah most people I thought did know this, but yeah, good to make sure everyone knows ;) It does kinda put a stop on total price manipulation, but merchanting is still possible. Carl
Merchanting is still possible, but the way in which it must be done now is seveerly restricted. Me, for one, don't like using Junk for merchanting. If I have from a previous item I've bought I'll use it. But I would put something in G E no problem without junk just because it is to much hassle. MicroLegionnaire
So what would happen if you bought 5k fire runes, added another 5k fire runes you already had, then tried to sell it? Would the Exchange sell the 5k you added normally, or what?

Blingkachi50
I didn't find this out til a couple days ago. My merchanting friend would make 20m+ a day logging on for 5 mins every hr if this weren't implemented. [blingkachi50]
