What are the Dk's?[hide=What are the Dk's?]The Dk's, short for Dagannoth Kings, are 3 levels 303 monsters. From left to right, they are Supreme, the ranger, Rex, the meleer, and Prime, the mager.

    dksil4.gif[/hide]

    Where are the Dk's?

[hide=Where are the Dk's?]The Dk's are located on Waterbirth island, in Waterbirth dungeon. The island is gotten to from Rellekka and this exclamation point marks the dungeon.

    dungeonlocationpz7.jpg

You then go through this dungeon to get to the Dagannoth Kings:

    waterbirthdungeon1bh0.jpg

    dungeonmap3gm5.jpg

    dungeonmap2gf1.jpg[/hide]

What do I do at the Dk's?

[hide=What do I do at the Dk's?]Run all the way down through the dungeon and then when you get to the rock lobsters, STOP. Everyone waits here, if you need to heal with guthans you can go up the ladder and heal on some dagannoths. Once everyone is healed up and has at least 60 energy then its time to leave. First you have to get into a good world. For duo mage melee or solo/duo maging you want as high of a population world as you can get, anywhere between 1.5k and 2k is good. If you are on a mage and hybrid team you need closer to 1k depending on how many hybrids you have. With 2 hybrids in guthans, you want about 1k, with 2 verac hybrids you want about 1.5k. This amount can change depending on stats.

    Full team(Mages with Hybrids):

Ok, now its time to go into the lair. Everyone runs down through all the monsters with mage pray on. Once you get to the ladder, the mage(s) go in with mage pray and piety on for some extra defense. The mage(s) then run down to the safespot and luring rex right behind em. They then start maging Rex from the safespot and wait until he's dead. Once Rex has died, you wait for the spawn and then mage him and lure him back to the safespot. Rinse and repeat. Mages will sometimes want to bring a bow incase prime gets on them once the Hybrids leave.

Now it's the hybrids turn. About 5 seconds after the mage(s) went down and you think Rex will be a safe distance away, you put on mage prayer and piety and go down the ladder. Use all your specials on Supreme and once your specials are up, switch to your best weapon. Once supreme is dead, run up to the safe spot for prime and start ranging away with just mage prayer on. Once he's dead, you run back down to supreme with range prayer on and kill him, healing with guthans if needed. You then run back on up to prime, kill him with mage prayer on. Rinse and repeat.

    Solo/Duo mage:

Solo or duo mage is basically the same as maging with hybrids although unless you're very good, you need a suicider. You start off by running down ladder, getting rex on you and then a suicider comes down ladder and gets prime and supreme off you. You run down to the safespot with rex following you and start killing rex. Once you're safely killing rex with neither prime or supreme on you, the suicider can die or tele or if he wants, stay and kill a couple supremes. Now you, the mager, just has to continue on like a normal trip, when rex spawns, you attack him and lure him back to the safespot, being very careful not to get prime on you. If prime does get on you, be sure to mage pray or he can own you. This is why it is good to bring a bow if you're solo/duo maging so that you can kill prime if you get him on you.[/hide]

Other helpful hints and tips[hide=Helpful Hints and Tips]

  • Bringing a familiar

When bringing a familiar, you need to decide which one is the best. There a few different things to use.

One thing you can use is a Beast of Burden. In list of best to worst, the BoB's with the amount they can hold are

    Pack Yak(30) > War Tortoise(18) > Spirit Terrorbird(12) > Bull Ant(9) > Spirit Kalphite(6)

You can also use a few different things to heal you. These are

    Unicorn Stallion(heals 15 per scroll) > Elemental Titan(8 per scroll) > Bunyip(2 per 15 seconds) > Void spinner(1 per 15 seconds)

These are all the different familiars. For healing familiars, you need to just replace some brews as you will need many less. To see a good inventory with healing familiars, please read above, in the equipment section of the guide.

If you are bringing a beast of burden, I would suggest just replacing some brews and super restores, but try and keep the ratio the same as you had it before the beast of burden.

  • How to find a world

First off, you need to know what population world you want.

If its all mages, whether solo/duo/trio, then you want as high of a population world as possible.

If theres hybrids with you then you want a slightly lower population. Usually you just have 2 hybrids, and if so you want around 1k or so population. A verac hybrid usually hits more than a guthan hybrid so theres a little formula id say.

Start with 0 population, for each verac hybrid, add about 650 population, for each guthan hybrid, add about 450-500. This is for average stats, 80 or so attack and strength, with higher or lower stats, you'll need to change these numbers. For example, 2 verac hybrids with average stats would go in about a 1300 population world. 2 verac hybrids with a guthan hybrid would go in about a 1700-1800 population.

  • Hopping worlds while in the Dk lair

It is usually not easy to swap worlds while you are in the Dk lair but that doesn't mean its impossible.

One way to do it is just simply logging out. This is not that easy however due to you having to be out of combat for 10 seconds. If there are a bunch of people in your world or you just get lucky and don't get attacked by spinolyps for a bit, this can work, if not, you have to do it the semi-dangerous way.

This semi-dangerous way is by a technique called X-logging. Runescape is designed so that if you disconnect, it will log you off after a certain time period. Usually around 30 seconds to 1 minute. What you have to do is close out your runescape window, it will think that you disconnected and after a little bit of time, it will log you out. Once it logs you out you just log back in onto a different world. You can keep X-logging until you find an empty world.

  • Hopping worlds right outside of the Dk lair

If you get to your world, go down the ladder and there are people there already, you need to hop to find a different world. What you do is come back up the ladder, and you follow the path along to the east. Once you go for a little while, there will be some rocks, step behind these so that you don't get attacked by a dagannoth. Wait for your team to get there and then decide a new world to go to, hop to this world and then walk back along the path and go into the Dk lair. Rinse and repeat until an empty world is found.

  • Crasher situations

SoDB stands whole-heartedly against world crashers. No one on an SoDB trip should ever crash another team, no matter who they are.

Now you need to know what to do if a team is crashing you. First off, you should ask the crasher politely to leave. If they refuse to leave, you might need to start using boosting prayers and potions to try and get the drops. If they still will not leave, you have two options.

The first option is to hop worlds. You can just go back out of the lair and find a new world. This could be annoying as it can take a while to find a new world so heres the second option.

You take action, you can not help them kill supreme for example, and then they may not have time to kill it before prime comes which can be a dangerous situation. Also, if rex gets on them, you don't need to waste your time and potions helping crashers like them, let them deal with it themselves. If neither of these is working, you may have to lure a DK on them, hopefully, this will cause them to leave or tele. If they do die, you should, without a doubt, bless their graves. They may have been crashers but you got them killed so should allow them to come get their stuff back. Getting a person killed at DK's is a last resort, it should only be done if it is ABSOLUTELY needed.

  • Other casts to use while maging

If you are maging at DK's, there are a few different spells to use. I personally prefer to use Claws of Guthix. This costs about twice as much as slayer dart but it hits up to 30 if you use charge compared to 19 with slayer dart. Because of this, you will be getting much faster experience as well as faster kills and therefore more money. If you don't have high enough mage to cast charge of you don't have enough money, you can use slayer dart or fire wave, I personally find fire wave to be better than slayer dart.

  • Ooglug Pools

If you have beaten the quest, As a First Resort, then you are now able to access the spas there. To get to these spas easiest, get to a charter boat, bring enough money to get to Ooglug. I always bring 1.7k and go from Catherby. Once you are in Ooglug, you need to dip in the 3 middle pools, HP, Run, and Prayer. The most important is the run. It lasts for approximately 15 minutes, giving you enough time to run all the way through the DK lair.

  • Choosing your inventory

A good inventory is shown in the equipment section but this can be changed around a fair bit. Higher defence or prayer can mean you will need more or less Super restores or brews. Also, if you have a healer such as a Unicorn Stallion, you won't be brewing very often meaning it could be worthwhile to bring a Pure set or a Range potion if you are a Verac hybrid.

Another thing that can be changed around in your inventory is the anti-poison you use. The easiest one to get is super-anti but I personally use antipoison(+) which is a bit better than a super-anti and still costs under 2k. These will not be bought immediately but you can buy them relatively fast or just make them. Also you can use antipoison(++) but this is not really worth it as you use a magic root to make it.

One other thing to change around is your teleport. For this, any one click teleport can be used.[/hide]

What do I do in emergency situations?[hide=Emergency Situations]

  • Prime spawns while the hybrids are still killing Supreme: If Prime spawns on you while you are still killing Supreme, then this is bad. Prime can hit up to 50 and he often hits very high. If it's been taking a while for Supreme, be very wary and be ready to switch prayers. As soon as he spawns, activate mage prayer and piety and finish off Supreme. Then just run up and kill Prime and continue as normal.

  • Rex spawns while hybrids are still killing Supreme: If the hybrids are killing Supreme when Rex spawns, the mage should attack him immediately and try to lure him over. If he gets too close to the hybrids and attacks them, the mage needs to run up and stand next to Rex to get him to attack you. The hybrids will then finish Supreme if he is at low hp and then go up the ladder or if he still has over half, you might just wanna go up ladder immediately. The mage should then just lure Rex back to the safespot and the hybrids can come back down and go back to their normal business.

  • One of your teammates dies: If something happens and one of your teammates dies, you need to bless his grave immediately. If he died due to lag, he might soon get disconnected and log off and if he logs off his gravestone disappears. His stuff will still remain for as long as the gravestone had left but it will not be able to be blessed any more so be sure to bless the gravestone ASAP!.[/hide]

Okay, is it just me or is my post horribly messed up.

It's not just you... the Admins know of the issue, and will work to get it fixed (if possible). It seems to be happening on all long posts.

Great guide BTW. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm almost certain Dagannoth Prime's max hit is 50, not 60. Shortman4229 insists it's 60, and says he had pictures, but he said he'd send them to me a week ago and I haven't seen a pixel of these pictures yet. Do you actually have any pictures indicating he hits 60...?

^ That's the highest hit I found via Google. I've only personally witnessed a 49 or 50 (can't remember which).

Im 90% positive that it's 60. When I was being taught to DK, that's what I was always told and I'm almost sure that I have been hit above 50. Tomorrow I'll go there and just do a vengeance fest to kill prime >:)

Some people have told me it was 60. Some have said it was 56. Some have said it was 40.

I already tried what you plan to do, I went down there and let prime hit me, heal up, and let him hit me again. He maxed a 49. He might hit higher than that, I don't know, I only got hit like... 25 times before I ran out of healing and had to leave.

I also browsed around YT for DK videos, and never saw over a 50.

What about using the Lunar spell Monster Examine? Dosent that tell you his max hit?

Monster examine on bosses and high monsters is almost always wrong.

Personally, the highest I have witnessed is 56, however my friend(who has been Dking when it came out) says he has seens 60s.

Monster examine is NOT wrong. Prime's max hit IS 26... with melee. Of course, Prime doesn't use melee, so that's pointless.

In a few specific cases, the monster examine has been corrected for maximum hit, but most of the time, it still displays just the melee max hit.

And again... I've heard someone say he's seen several 85s. I could easily type "I have personally witnessed prime hit 99s." That doesn't make it true... which is why I'm asking for a picture of some sort cause I don't believe I've ever seen a 60 or anything remotely near that high.

Ima log off for tonight but tomorrow morning I will finish my kalphite task and go straight down to DK's to grab some proof.

And soma, monster examine is wrong, because I know for sure that Rex can hit higher than 26 with melee.

It depends on how risky you want to be, and whether or not you use Guthans. The spinolyps magic attacks hit you harder than the range one, since you're wearing Veracs/Guthans. But with Guthans healing you, you could heal all the damage dealt to you off the spins, and not need to use prayer at all, and stay a very long time. With Verac's, you have a higher prayer bonus, and it's a little less risky/more straightforward. Pray mage the whole time, brewing and restoring whenever your health gets too low.

You know, come to think of it, I actually don't recall ever being hit by Rex for over 25. I always assumed his max hit is ~30, and he doesn't hit me very often so I don't know for sure, but I never remember being hit for over 25. I talked to a few others, and Short only remembers seeing a 21.

Lol Soma. Well I did go on that Vengeance only DK trip, and I died once but I was never hit over 50 by prime or over 26 by Rex. As sure as I was that they had hit higher, memory can be wrong so ya, I guess that people had been telling me that was the max so I just though I had been hit that but, well, I guess I was wrong. If I do get hit higher and get a picture, I'll be sure to post it, but for now, I'm forced to believe that the max hit are 26 for Rex and 50 for Prime.

A few good ways to get rid of crashers are,

Firstly luring the rex into their hybrids so it attacks them, your mage then farcast's it and it will continue attacking their rangers.

Secondly is luring the supreme to their hybrid's and hide from prime far away and pray range

I did a trip today, rex hit me once when a lame crasher made him go outa safespot, then blamed me for a bad lure. I got hit 26, on my first dk trips i failed at luring, and never seen higher than 26. So i think rex hits 26.

And nice guide, helped me alot.
