Inuashakent
I have 79 summoning, and I recently bought back my Guthans. It helps alot to have a titan helping you. So once you reach level 75+, you should consider switching off from a bunyip to a combat familiar. Also, yes, bunyips are worth saving charms for. toast647
I have 79 summoning, and I recently bought back my Guthans. It helps alot to have a titan helping you. Lol, level 79 summoning titans are junk and hit a max of like 15, attack slow, and are really innaccurate. I use a bunyip for pretty much all my tasks, usually a super set, one bunyip, and some food (or SGS :P) works really well. Inuashakent
Max hit is 14, and they hit 1/3 of the time. At least. They do help alot, more than the difference between a whip and a guthan spear for 1/30th of a task, lol. To smack more on top, SGS even makes less use of a Bunyip... BabyPunchers
At a decent def level (80+) you won't need much food, but at a higher level(90+) you won't need any food except for the stray nechreal task. Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. Because of you all I will start rewriting it asap.[/color] Formerly RobinHoodie. I use a bunyip for pretty much all my tasks, usually a super set, one bunyip, and some food (or SGS :P) works really well. Well that's just completely wrong :| The titans have a max of 15(The fire one at least), they have decent accuracy, and their scroll heals 8 and boosts your defence. They are MUCH better for healing than bunyips, but you have to use scrolls, which cost around 500 each(or pouches and convert them to scrolls) which is too expensive in my opinion to use regularly on slayer tasks. They're great at DKs and GWD, though. If you want a good fighting fighting familiar around that level, use a talon beast. They attack faster than a whip, and each attack hits 3 times(up to 5 each for a total of 15). They are very accurate, and they attack extremely fast. At least one of the hits usually does damage. I still take guthans on every task that I can use it, and I usually have a bunyip with me, and I have 86 defense, so I'm not quite sure what Robin is talking about. I actually do know that they use blue charms, you may or may not have noticed that I suggested buying pouches, and I also know that they use scrolls, which I directly mentioned. You also seem to have neglected to notice that I said that they were too expensive to use in normal training. Perhaps if you actually gave some reasons to back up your claim, then more people would pay attention. Bunyips can heal a maximum of 352 HP in their life time, titans have a limit too, but this depends entirely on how fast you take damage. However, I used 62 scrolls once on one titan at DKs(spins were hitting me a lot for some reason) and that adds up to....496 HP recovered. Titans also last 18 minutes longer(Fire)...and I did not include the number of defense points that were boosted or the fact that I can outlast most people on brews and guthans at DKs with me just taking 1 brew and restore for emergencies in veracs/karils. Inuashakent
Getting a bit flamy here.... Anyway, I don't even use scrolls, as Guthan's is more than enough. If we're talking about efficiency though, Bunyips obviously lose. [Summoning guide (AOW)] [Slayer guide] [Melee & Brawl player]
Numberkills
Was hoping for a clear cut winner, but all the added factors of titans really made my final verdict hard to choose. It's looking like I'll go ahead and buy Guthan's for some slayer tasks and it's also useful in Barrows; but also I'll get the Bunyip for more efficient tasks. When I have a high enough summoning level, I'll try out titans and see if they really are better than bunyips. And ultimately I'll get a Unicorn :D! RyderJ
You have to think of the Bunyip as *helping* the Guthans. Same as wearing high defense armor. It gives you more time before having to switch to Guthans, which slows you down a ton. Depending on the monster, you might not even need to be switching to Guthans, but that doesn't make it useless. A bunyip isn't enough extra hp cushion to make you not need to heal on, say, Gargoyles or Nechs. I'm going to keep my Guthan's set.

Is it worth my money to buy my Guthan's back? or will saving charms for 68 summoning prove more useful over time? Thanks in advance :D Depends on task really. I get waterfiends fairly often and need the extra healing power of Guthans. Abby Demons on the other hand I can suffice with just a Bunyip. Trust the Gene Genie! time_wast0r
Well maybe i'm biased cause i have a low slayer level, or because of my high def, but since i got my bunyip, i haven't used guth once :? I wore a torso/mask/rune legs on a 170ish hellhound task, i used 2 bunyips and about 4 monks. I also think bunyip/food > guth, because of the time it takes to eat, as opposed to swapping to guth, getting def/shared xp. Ultimately though, Bunyip + SGS>>>>>>Guth Also, i have no idea about titans vs bunyip argument, if scrolls are 500ea, big waste of money..bunyip is 2k a pouch if that and lasts a whole task, unless you use 4 scrolls a task its overkill imo. I'm at Karamja ranging lessers... if I don't kill him in time people run underneath my foe and steel my arrows. Why! Have some decency and let me finish off the monster and get my arrows that I earned you PIG! Otherwise i have to run out to grab my arrows, get hit, and go back.. and guess what!, by then they stole my lesser! BASTARD! 100% P2P
Inuashakent
Ok. Lets say a decent familiar adds about 5 dmg/whip hit. Thats a great deal. Sure, bunyip lets you not use guthans, but you lose all that extra xp. Guthans + Combat familiar is alot faster than just a bunyip + a whip. But, if your too lazy, or don't have enough cash, then bunyip is a good alternative. But, if your too lazy, or don't have enough cash, then bunyip is a good alternative. A normal titan (79 to make) will not do 5 damage per whip hit. You would be lucky to get 2-3 damage from the titan from every whip hit. Bunyip is better by far, the level 79 titans are just completely ineffect, too slow to attack and are inaccurate. The problem is that they are too big to move around to attack quickly. At level 92 you get the Wolpertinger which is only 1 space big so it may be worth it for combat. And at 89 the Geyser Titan is able to range so that is pretty good aswell as it doesnt dance as much.

You keep mentioning how you use titans at DKs when the topic author clearly asked which is better for slayer. Furthermore, he asked between Bunyip and Guthans, Titans were not even an option.. In my personal opinion, I like Bunyip for monsters that don't inflict a lot of damage. However you cannot completely rely on Bunyip for harder monsters, you must bring a Saradomin GodSword, Guthans, or Food to help you.
