Void range

Alright, so im getting void range. and I did some calculations. With Full void range and all my other ranging stuff, my range bonus is +115. With VK ranges bonus it makes it +127, but with Black dhide and barrow gloves i can get to +181 which is wayy more accuracy. Is Vk really that much better?

On a monster where accuracy doesn't matter as much, VK is irreplacable. Your range damage goes up by a few points, which is a big deal. And with a Rune Cbow, the missing attack bonuses aren't missed at all, assuming you're not going after, say, steels.

Accuracy is already pretty high at numbers exceeding +80, so I'd say it's definately worth it. Range is a fairly fast skill in terms of attacks per time frame so the speed actually makes up for the inaccuracy. +50 or +60 range attack bonus isn't going to significantly affect your range that much, that's why you see tanks in almost full melee outfits donning a type of range armour in the body slot and hit just as effective. So I'd say, get it. ;)

Definitely against low ranged defense monsters, as the accuracy then doesn't matter but the 10% void damage does.

High range defense monsters we probably don't know since we have no idea how the combat system works. It would be a stretch to assume however that the extra 54 points of attack cause a higher dps than void.

Pretty much a safe bet is to use void unless you're ranging something that can hit you hard.

VK adds 10% to accuracy and damage...so the difference in range attack bonus is nearly made up with the 10% accuracy increase, throw in 10% higher hits (even more with some enchanted bolts) and you get an overall higher average hit with VK...I would use it for all ranging I do if it had slightly better defense stats.

When your potentially gaining a 3-4 increased max hit, versus losing 60 points in accuracy. Most definitely go for that increase. As well you've not included the other effects of the VK for range, it also boost accuracy.

VK is the best to use for slayer/minimal to moderate training. It is then highly debatable in Monster Hunting.

You can still use void on higher def monsters i thought? wyverns? irons and steels?

mithril dragons...

anyway. Could someone explain to me what a "high" ranged defense creature is... i have never seen one that could fall into that category with the except to rock lob/crab. Even then, its better then melee on those things

No, actually, in my experience, hides work better on Steels+ ranged defense.

Really, if your ranged level is high enough, you can use it on a lot. the attack bonus from a rune cbow is a ton. On most monsters, it's plenty. Just don't complain when you spend 10 minutes shooting at a steel dragon when you have 80 ranged. ;)

Ranged level accuracy helps a lot, so Void is more for high leveled rangers if you want to use it practically and commonly. I use it on pretty much any slayer task when I range them. Nechs, black demons, iron dragons, kalphite guardians, blue dragons, etc... it owns for those. Just don't try use it on things like waterfiends, steels, miths, or boss hunting.

on steel dragons, at 99 range with eagle eye using mith bolts to poison then addy bolts, i averaged about 32k/hr with armadyl and 24k/hr with vk, but then again on something like black demons i was getting faster xp with the vk, and MM skeles are pretty easy to hit, so vk is top there too

Graador.

I have void range, never really noticed a difference in how much I get. Then again, I never used it all that much.

Need a new signature....perhaps...

Hey Tom :D

For me (99 range) I find it amazing because I don't miss much anyway, but on steel drags in VK I barely miss and hit very high - I say it's better for everything, low defence or not. Plus it's amazing for chinning, i get 265 exp/chin with it and 235 exp/chin without it now.

Void Knight range is a very debatable and good armor set. For training however, cheap arrows, knives, and bolts, such as steel or iron, hit low, so the 10% difference won't make a big impact, so hides or Armadyl are better options. For higher level bolts and arrows, void DOES help considerably, but, when against high range defence (such as torags/dharok's aromor) I'd still perfer Armadyl.

Look at it this way: Void Knight is a pure armor. It sacrifices defence and accuracy for extra damage.

It is just a trade off.
