Money? How? Why?

Well, yes, but with Vista over 98, you get added functionality as well. I mean, what upgrades can you make to a cell phone that improve the functionality? Not the PLAN, the phone itself. I mean, as long as it dials and sounds okay, what more do you need?

Extra functionality is always nice though. You don't "need" it, but its cool to have. Of course, I love technology so all the cool little things a new phone can do are nice.

I actually got a new phone this past week for $50. Been using my current for over 2 years and felt it was time for an upgrade.

Well, yeah. Nice stuff is always nice. Unnecessary nice stuff is still nice. It's just that I wouldn't personally choose to have THAT specific extravagance over, say, a new game for my computer or a nice new hockey stick or something. Personal opinion, I suppose.

i'm not hunting with [the hunting knife] - its my sort of defense if a boar attacks.

I lol'd because if a boar was close enough for you to have to use a hunting knife to defend yourself, you'd probably be dead in the next two seconds anyway.

Or wait till your 15 and get a job at a corner store, or working in the backrooms of a supermarket.

Waiting till your 15 will open up a lot more of opportunities, that are far better than mowing a lawn. Even working at a golf course, or working at a sports league would be better...

Besides you don't need it, I don't even have a cell phone, and I'm still living.

Ha, I WISH 15 was the age I could get a job at. Even at 15 years old, I can't get a job at the place I've been volunteering at for 2 years, because the city that I would be working for doesn't hire people under 16 :( So waiting until you're 15 might not work.

Not true. my uncle's dad (hes the one with the ranch that has wild boar) was hunting them and got attacked. it ripped him open from the ankle to his stomach and was dragging him alone and he pulled out a .45 pistol and shot it in the belly a few times and he lived. when they weighed the boar, it was over 900 pounds. and now the pig's head is mounted in his living room.

see? a good knife or a pistol could save my life.

I don't know how you're equating a hunting knife to a .45 pistol.

I'm pretty sure underage citizens can't get revolvers or handguns for hunting use in any country (legally). There is absolutely no way at least in a western society, that the police chief of the person's county, city, etc. would grant a 9mm permit or .45 for *hunting*, to someone under 18 years old.

Hunting rifles using winchester/308 cartridges are a different story.

He might be able to get a combat knife @ under 18.. But good luck defending yourself with it against a wild boar. I wouldn't count on it.

Anyway, you could sell your body to fat chicks. Cause you know, fat chicks need love too.

Yeah... really nice.. Diss all the fat chicks. GG

Anywho...

iPhone is just like an iPod: It's a phone that's only more expensive because of the iPhone brand sticker on it. I bet there are other companies with phones that have the same capabilities for alot cheaper.

Like that fat-chick hater said, wait for Rock Band to go down in price. in the mean time, I'm sure you could get another game if you found a way to get the money. But you may have to wait till you're 16 to get a job.

And TBH I still don't understand why someone under the age of 16 needs a cell phone in the first place. But then again, I'm 24 and don't find a need for a cell phone, especially considering home phones are cheaper, and the only places I really go are to a store and work. That's it.

Now the knife thing... I will be honest, I collect weaponry for display only. I have a dagger with a wall plaque and a hatchet. The only difference is, thay aren't even sharp, and I don't "play" with them. They stay on display. Also, I am of legal age to buy them myself. I wouldn't expect my mother to have done it for me, because that would just be bad parenting on her part. If you need a knife for hunting, it should be kept withthe parent/guardian and only used in their presence, i.e. hunting with them. It's kind of irresponsible to let a minor have a knife, because it could be your parents going to jail for it.

How does someone's parents go to jail for letting their kid even have a knife? Enlighten me. If you mean that they do something stupid with the knife, then I'd understand.

I have Frostmourne though hanging on a plaque in my room. It's about 42 inches long and cost me ~$420.

I'm just waiting on my paycheck so I can buy some more goodies and refuel my damn truck, gas is too expensive.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

It's the same with alcohol and cigarettes, at least here in the US. It's providing a minor with something they are not of age to buy themselves. That's how one can go to jail for that.

Well, here in Belgium, there isn't such a law about that.

First scar of my life.. At about 6 years old. How'd I get it? With a cheap discount swiss army knife the local shop was selling, I had saved up money and bought it. Still got a wide white scar to this day.

Didn't really take many hours until I cut the backside of my thumb to a bloody pulp after trying to carve initials in some wooden box.. Kids can't make the best decisions for themselves. Until you're at least 15-16, there's really no need to have a sharp edged weapon/tool.

Kids need rights, but they don't need weapons or dangerous tools unless supervised by an adult.

Your parents let you buy a knife? Or did you sneak off without them knowing?

i disagree. i Got my huning liscense when I was 10, i passed the safety test with flying colors. and i also am much more mentally mature than most people my age, partly because of my older brother and sister. and my parents let me have my first knife when i was around 5, and it was a swiss army knife. its blade was and still is crap, the only good thing about was the doors it unlocked(figuratively). And the only scar i have from a sharp object is from barbed wire.(i was dumping grass from mowing the law into my field and slipped)

and to those who don't think a hunting knife can save my life; its would make me feel safe and still give me a fighting chance. and also 85% of all fights/battles/attacks, if you think you will loose, you will. if you think you can win, then you have a higher chance of winning.

EDIT: I live in the U.S. and i do know the laws of contributing to a minor. and the laws of weapons.

Sounds like a made-up statistic, especially if you fight with another human being, despite what you tell yourself mentally, unless you're a self-defense expert, you really don't have much of a chance if he's bigger or has a more powerful weapon, your only option is to run.

I've been to plenty of self-defense courses, the trainer always says the same thing.. In many real life scenarios you can't win. Forget the movies, that's not reality. If 3 guys with knives try to rob you, you don't have to give your money, you can run like hell, but you CAN'T win the fight.

Young kids can buy knives and sharp tools... But they don't necessarily need them. Unless you go fishing and need to gut the fish so they can be cooked, I can't think of many legit uses for a knife at under 15 with the kid being responsible enough to handle it :?

I dont no about America but in Canada if you have a social security number and your parents consent you can probably get those minimum + wage jobs (probably applies to USA to). Just be patient, save everything, sell everything else and you should get it. Also: you have a wii. Any [cabbage]ty games you don't like you could sell.

Actually, I went betting and won some money while over in America on horse betting. Won ~$900, so I don't mind.

i found $30 and bought the knife. its awesome <3: - i tested it on a can (sliced it in half). and i might have a job irrigating a field near my house for my dad's friend. so i might be in luck

EDIT:

and to those who say iPhone is overpriced and crappy:

my phone: a basic V3 razor, it gets the job done (usually  ) new: $169.99 with renewal of plan: $0-25

Blackberry pearl: i don't know much about it but i heard its the best phone out there from some ... rather unreliable sources |new: $349.99 with plan: $199.99

iPhone (8gb): my mom, dad, and sister all have one. i have toyed with them quite a bit. and it kicks the crap outta my phone. |New (after july 11): $199.99 and you can't renew your plan to get one cheaper.
