My high school history teacher from sophomore year and who I'm very good friends with now is one of Justin Vernon's best friends. I've met him several times \ If you like harmonies and acoustic music, check out Kings of Convenience. And yeah you're from the same area he retreated to in his cabin aren't you? (Wisconsin). Thanks for the recommendation with Kings of Convenience. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
June 25, 200818 yr Not really something new, or a rising star. But Matt Elliott is worth listening to. He's been the man behind Third Eye Foundation (Although I am pretty sure that doesn't ring much bells here either), and now he's gone a different way. With a more organic sound, and inspired by eastern european folk music. Check out Drinking Songs. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

Yeah I live about 40 miles from Eau Claire, WI which is where he (Vernon) and my teacher grew up. We're located directly between EC and the Twin Cities (Minneapolis & St. Paul, MN) so it's go to either place for the mall or shopping. We're constantly in EC doing things and my teacher called me up one day and asked if I wanted to meet him, so I did. As to where his cabin is, I do not know. I have a general idea, but not for sure. He said 60 miles north of EC in one interview I saw. That's not too far for a cabin; mine is at least 100 or more miles north. June 25, 200818 yr Flogging Molly. They're an Irish rock band and they're awesome. Why old roommate loved them. I personally can't stand Irish music. Here is an Indie group that friend requested my on myspace, The Slumbers I would suggest listening to Brand New Day and Don't Follow Me.
June 25, 200818 yr Flogging Molly. They're an Irish rock band and they're awesome. I'd say that they are pretty well known. At least, my parents recognize them. :o Last.Fm My Bloggy Proud to have served on Tip.it Crew

June 26, 200818 yr Jeff Buckley. He had one of the most beautiful voices I'd heard in a long time. I was actually really sad when I found out he died 11 years ago :(
June 27, 200818 yr Fall of Troy - some style of progressive rock that i've never heard before. Matthew Mills - my guitar teacher :P he's got some stuff on itunes and youtube, and he's an INSANELY fast neoclassical player. Anyways, BBL OFF TO SLEEP WITH A RACCOON

Wow, did you see his performance on Jools Holland's show (UK show) of Skinny Love? Man, it nearly brought tears to my eyes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHyo33XLP24&fmt=18 "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
June 28, 200818 yr More kids need to know about Ozzy Osbourne. They're creativity is ruined with Jonas Brothers and that Pop crap.
June 28, 200818 yr More kids need to know about Ozzy Osbourne. They're creativity is ruined with Jonas Brothers and that Pop crap. you realize that almost everyone knows ozzy osbourne right? Why even try with that idiot? Honestly, there is no point whatsoever. I'd get better replies if I argued with a tree stump.
June 28, 200818 yr Everyone knows the name, but this anyone know his music? His band. People just know the TV show because it was on the MTV. His band is the one that inspired me to play guitar and eventually I will play concerts. I woulda still been an internet hermit but he inspired me to play music.

Man, it nearly brought tears to my eyes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHyo33XLP24&fmt=18 Yes I most certainly have. I spend a lot of my time scouring YouTube for Bon Iver videos :D If you want the really good ones, watch the ones that he does for 89.3 The Current. It's a public radio station here, but they play mostly underground music. June 29, 200818 yr Ceremony - Angry and raging hardcore. They also put on some of the best live shows ever. http://www.myspace.com/ceremony Rebelution - California reggae. Give them a listen, you won't be disappointed. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... d=20173504
June 29, 200818 yr I really don't know much rising artists, but some kids these days need to stop listening to stuff such as Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, or that messed up load called Jonas... I will never forgive myself for uttering those names. Most people should learn about bands such as Dream Theater, Therion, (at least)Nightwish, and a few other bands out there. Kids these days need a bit of taste with their music. For example, my brother spits at any of those bands I mentioned, not including the first three. But he's always hyper, and weird about everything. And a little joke I made involving some thread about GTA IV on some other forum. "Yea, we should totally make a Dream Theater band, the only problem being that beatings would take thirty minutes, and each of us would take turns on extended beating solos." I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal. OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.
June 29, 200818 yr Up and coming, I'd say Laura Marling, she has some really amazing and powerful songs and she's only about 16. Duke Special are really fun :) Amy MacDonald is probably my favourite singer at the moment, her songs are kinda rock but you could say unique for a female artist.
June 29, 200818 yr Not really up and coming either. But I don't think that they are very popular outside the Beneluxe. Vive la Fête Sexy. 8-) Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
