Convincing the parents

Recommended Posts

I want to subscribe to members. Anyways, I cracked it on my dad. That was easy. He agreed with no hesitation, but then he said "Ask your mom and if she thinks the game is age appropiate, ill pay". But my parents are opposite, and divorced. My mom is strict and my dad is easy going. Im perfect in school, but that may not be enough, how should I go about convincing my very strict mom? Open to all advice.

Just tell her that if you're grades start slipping, that she can have your dad cancel the membership until you get them back up again.

I love divorced parents, it's very easy to decieve them! Usually, they will be skeptical if you mention the other parent, that is their weakness, just say you'd like to play an mmo online and that you think your dad will pay for it, if she is mad at your father she'll want to make him pay a little more just for her edification, however, if she is genuinely concerned about the game bing inappropriate, show her the censor.

Tell her if you can't play this game then you're going out with you're hoodie mates to "hang out" outside the shops, drinking cheap cider and mugging old people.

LOL! Well, just take her to the rs website and show her the parent guide or whatever its called. It describes the educations aspect to the game and the whole censor thing. All my parents cared for was that its not a stupid scamming site for your credit card number.

Just say what cat said. I just dropped hints and that gone me my membership after coming back to rs! =D>

In seriousness I wouldn't be that blatant. However I would rather my kids play Runescape than hang out around shops.

It really worries me that parents don't let there kids do certain things online. There is far more trouble and danger outside these days.

You could pretend it's just a way of chatting to mates without paying for phone calls...

Maybe just offer to do some more jobs around the house, and as someone said - tell them they can stop paying if your grades start slipping.

Let her look around the site and make her decision. If your parents are strict like mine they won't change a decision, so there's no use giving the "i'll stop if bad things happen" excuse. Won't cut it.

So I'll only tell you what I did, I asked my parents if it was ok and let them decide. They said no, so then I used PayByCash.

Just say that it can be a reward for working hard in school, chores, being a good citizen etc. You could also say that it could be an incentive to try even harder, as if your grades slip, you can have it removed. Works wonders with school and parents. ;)

Runescape is too "age appropriate", really. Your dad probably just thinks it's a violent computer game (he's heard of Counterstrike, GTA, etc.). So if that's the only qualm, you should be alright.

Your parents will rest easy knowing that when you're in college, you can be chomping on tuna sweetcorn taters.

Oh god no. Do you know how freaking pissed your parents would be if you blew $80 on a year of Runescape without their consent? On a cell phone that was already most likely a privilege to have given to you at your age? Granted, you haven't said your age, but I'm willing to bet you're <18.

Save up some cash, print out Paybycash's dealy, and follow their instructions. Do it independently, not underhandedly. I use Paybycash for my membership usually; it's simple.
