I pretty much lost all hope when I saw the cover.

since i use Dragonforce's "Inhuman Rampage" for music while playing CoD4 i'll be getting this one

Inhuman Rampage was just one long song cut up into some tracks.

 

 

 

I honestly have trouble telling the difference between In the Fire and the Flames, and Revolution Deathsquad.

 

I gave up listening to them ages ago, but I always remember thinking, "has the song changed yet?"

The first track is on Dragonforce's Myspace page and it honestly hasn't changed since Valley of the Damned, almost 5 years ago now. I swear I've heard that song before somewhere.

dragonforce is just an insult to power metal imo. try real power metal: stratovarius, angra, helloween, sonata artica. they are WAY better than dragonforce.

Yeah....no way. I listened to their new song on their MySpace...I thought I was listening to Through The Fire And Flames for 100th fricking time. I hated it.

Try Kamelot's The Black Halo, Blind Guardian's Imaginations From the Other Side, and Gamma Ray's Land of the Free for good Power Metal. Sonata is good too, haven't heard angra, and Helloween bores me.

Actually after listening to the songs on the album a couple of times, I realized that it actually isn't that bad.

 

Some songs are very very (and I mean VERY) similar to other songs by them but others are way out of the ordinary.

 

 

 

They don't really play near impossible solo's anymore and the have written a lot more slower songs.

 

Good album in my book I guess.

Dragonforce is all about recording studios and being over-the-top. Very kind of "pop metal".

 

 

 

Also, good power metal bands, cont.: Edguy, Avantasia, Nightwish, Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Rhapsody of Fire, Dark Moor, Vanishing Point... Gamma Ray is pretty good also. I quite like Kamelot from Siege Perilous onward because Roy Khan is awesome.

 

 

 

Back to Ultra Beatdown: It all sounds the same still. There's been zero change in the music apart from what Arch_Tyrant said; a bit slower and less impossible.

Only power metal that I like a bit is Sabaton :lol: !

The only power metal I really ever "got" was Fates Warning, Legend (US), Manilla Road and Hammers of Misfortune.

They have nothing unique that would make me listen to them (Stratovarious) over an other Power Metal band, and their songs are boring (to me at least). Dragonforce is bad, but at least they have their computerized speed gimmick to make them slightly less generic.

The track that released sounded like it came right off of Inhuman Rampage. The band has received so much mainstream praise since 2005 that I'm honestly sick of them. Its still fast with fun, catchy melodies, but they're the same melodies we've been hearing from them for years...
