"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice

Featured Replies

Well, ask her for alone time, it's not the sort of thing I'd ask in front of my friends/her friends. If you are in an intimate relationship then she'll tell you - I make sure my girlfriend always tells me, you'll avoid any upsets/arguments later.

Just tread carefully at the moment - perhaps back off a little, you may be getting a little clingy for he liking. My girlfriend did exactly the same.

  • Obviously you ask her to come with you. Drive with her to the steepest mountain. Put her in the backpack and spend a week climbing the mountain. You will drink the rain and you will eat like a bear. B

  • Okay so I'm pretty confident at least 2 of you remember me and maybe .5 of you remember how my last post went. To recap, I went on the first date of my life and then a second one that went poorly.   T

Looks like it's coming to an end from my opinion, it's not you being paranoid by far. We love you <3

You could always just get her alone and say, "Hey. You've been acting weird lately. What's in the doing?"

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

You should definitely be worried. Just ask her what's wrong. And it certainly is possible to be in love at that age, more depends on how long you've been dating...

Well, we talked a bit more. We're not breaking up, and she's taking a few days to sort herself out. Hopefully this ends well.

My condolences buddy. Hope you're alright while shes off doing whatever to make up her mind. I hate when chicks pull this crap. It's completely unfair.

^ Yeah it is. It has never really happened to me, bit I've seen it happen to all the guys around me.

Well, perfect timing there Y_guy. She just told me she thinks we'd be better off as friends, but she's a little confused right now, so she won't end it right now. I'm screwed now, right?

Combined with

Well, I think my girlfriend is about to break up with me.

She seems to be...going out of her way not to see me, almost. She's never shown much affection before, but it's like she's showing...Well, whatever the opposite of that would be.

would make me want to end it. She doesn't seem that into you at all.

Considering your age my best bet is that she's not into you, but she's confused because she likes the novelty of having a boyfriend.

In any case I think staying with her is a bad idea that will get you hurt.

I'd say to be the man, and break it off before you really get hurt.

lampost_sig_stark.png

Yeah, just break it off. It could recover, but don't bank any sort of chance on it. Just break up with her and save both of you some issues down the road.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

I'd personally just walk up to her, presumably in front of her friends, and say "it's over."

That's one way to make sure anyone who knows her will think you're a [bleep].

Letting her lead the relationship like this is probably part of the reason why she's not that into you. You following her when she wasn't talking to you, whether you stay together being up to her even though she is treating you badly etc.

I think that's a bit of a stretch considering he's hardly mentioned their day to day interaction. All he said is that she was never that affectionate which could be a warning sign, but it could just be the personality as well.

However, it seems like she does want to end it...so see what happens Sunday, and then if she wants to stay together, if things don't get better fast, I'd end it. It's not worth your time and feelings dragging out something that both parties aren't into.

My experience:

I have been with my fiancée now for 4+ years. In that time, we did have a month where we were broken up and both grew up a little.

Rob:

Take her friend's word that she wants to make it work. When women pay little attention, don't seem as affectionate, etc. it just means they need one thing....

SPACE!

You may or may not be suffocating her. In fact, you could be giving her space right now. But a woman needs to feel like she has control over her life, her time and her thoughts. Sometimes, a boyfriend or whatever, can really impede that. Do things like;

Letting her contact you (unless there is an emergency!)

Playing it "cool".

Women are easy to figure out on the..."larger" scheme of things. It is the intricacies that make them difficult on the individual level.

I hope that was helpful!

Quite true. Reminds me of a quote from the Style Blogger (I guess I'm obsessed with that dude lately!): "What a great combo, bringing together two of my greatest passions: women and menswear both of which can be hard to understand at times, but with some comprehension can help bring out the best in a man."

Okay, not that similar. But I like my quote.

Well, I was basically just told that she likes to be 'in-dependent", and not be held or kissed/hugged constantly. So, I'll back off on that. I have a feeling everything's going to go pretty well. Thanks for the help, guys :)

I'll know where to go if things change.

Yup, one of the tenants of women. Just back off a bit and she'll come to you!
