sonerohi
Even though I should know better, I'm here asking TIF for help on a big problem I'm having. I couple of weeks ago, I read a book that scared me so bad, I literally vomitted while reading, out of fear. For these past couple of weeks, I've had short phases of absolute optimism, followed by a medium-ish length phase of being so irrationally afraid that it makes me ill, followed by very long phases of just absolute boredom doing anything. This is causing me to lose alot of sleep and to have bad vomitting to the point where I continue vomitting after I've lost all my food. Just gotta know if there is anything I can do to get out of this rut. Any advice is appreciated since I know for fact that all of OT is pretty wise (excluding abyssal). BlueLancer
Go to a well-lit place, preferably outside if the sun is shining. I did that sometimes when I was nervous (not scared, but at huge financial risk for example) to the point of nearly vomiting, it worked wonders. It's hard to feel threatened in bright environments. issy2
1. What was the book? 2. If its been going on for a while you should definitely tell your parents (if you havent already?) and if I were you I'd go and see your gp, they will be able to help more than anyone online. megakiller32
What the hell kinda book was this?! Maybe someone slipped some drugs into your food or something, because this sounds like an effect of drug taking. Another thing, the only thing i can really suggest, is see a psychiatrist. Im being serious, those guys can help anyone with anything. Quit Runescape 30th May 2006.Thanks to Hawkxs for my signature :)
RichieMcD
See a psychiatrist, seriously something must be wrong if a book does that much damage to you mentally. Not being able to sleep and vomiting after you have nothing left in your stomach are very serious things, the latter is extremely risky and inconsistent and it can also lead to further problems. See a psychiatrist for losing sleep and other mentality problems, see a gp about your stomach problems, if they can't help you they'll refer you to your local hospital / specialist. sonerohi
I've been trying to get an appointment with the doctor, and I am scheduling appointments with a shrink, but my parents aren't letting me do the former. Some information I figure I should include is that my appetite has decreased whereas my use of the facilities has nearly quadrupled for both ways. Keep in mind this isn't constant, only during the negative periods which last for about 10 - 19 hours. During the usual 35 - 40 hours of boredom I'm just fine, same with the half a day long optimism periods.
Lenticular_J
World War Z is in my collection. I can't see how it would really scare someone that bad, but... I'm a zombiephobe anyways. Okay, you need to make a plan for the zombie invasion. A very elaborate one, where you can touch your supplies and know there's no reason to be afraid - anymore. Or just make sure to see your shrink regularly. Whatever eats your little brain. (Ha, little zombie humor there.) catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
dragoonson
World War Z is in my collection. I can't see how it would really scare someone that bad, but... I'm a zombiephobe anyways. Doesn't that make you afraid of zombies?I'd say you're a zombophiliac.Yes,I know what it means. I don't have much in terms of horror in my collection but I have True Singapore Ghost Stories...I read it during the Hungry Ghost Festival once, and coincidentally watched a few scary movies (Thailand, and B Grade).Couldn't sleep for a while  Suggestion:It might be your superstition?Try to do other things to keep your mind off it,or see a shrink.Seriously.I did and it made the scaries go away. so i herd u liek devarts? If you look at me and feel offended by my 666-ism,think.I could be just as offended by your "cross".[hide=This's why I'm hot]The Eleventh Commandment:Thou Shalst only say "Amen, brother".Amen, brother :lol:Amen, brudda (referring to the 10th commandment)amen Bruder! (german ftw)I'm invulnerable to everything, except Lenin and Dragoonson. That's impossible. I love people.[/hide]

You need to see a GP, as kranked said, vomiting alot can lead to health problems, and they are going to be able to help, refer to a good psychiatrist, etc.
Lenticular_J
You may want to get yourself checked for stomach viruses, some are bad enough to give you hallucinations. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
Lenin64
Quick question: What, exactly, is it that you're afraid of? Command the Murderous Chalices! Drink ye harpooners! drink and swear, ye men that man the deathful whaleboat's bow- Death to Moby Dick!BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! sonerohi
I'm not even definitively afraid of one thing. It's just extreme paranoia and anxiety.

RyderJ
I would get your stomach checked out. Severe bacterial infections can sometimes cause paranoia. And you may want to check it out soon, it could be a developing ulcer. In the meantime, drink cabbage juice. It has enzymes that are absolutely perfect for gastrointestinal infections, and has been proved to have an instant effect on stomach ulcers, neutralizing the bacteria on contact. Off topic: is this "world war z" a picture book or anything? does it have pictures at all? No its all text, and its quite vivid and well thought out. I personally enjoyed it, and was the first book I had bought in years. I would suggest it to anybody who likes zombies. But as for the original poster's problem I could see some people being a bit off after reading it, although theres still an equal chance of his problem being from something else entirely. sonerohi
All right, I'm glad to say I should be able to go to the doctor sometime early tomorrow, and tomorrow I'm going to call in and scedule my first shrink session.

sonerohi
Good. I hope you feel better. I know how much emotional angst like this can hurt. I feel insulted. probably just because I don't recognize the word angst....But it does hurt pretty bad, literally and metaphorically. I've developed an arcing line across my stomach that hurts like no other when I eat solids or use the facilities. I tried to distract myself from it by going to see the new Batman movie with some friends and I just felt so out of it.
rushrock
Wait, did I insult you? And I actually meant mental angst. My bad. All angst means is suffering and agony.

fgfuyfyuiuy0
Yeah. I've read World War Z front and back and I doubt that is what is upsetting your stomach. I think you may have a stomach virus and it happened to be a coincidence that you were reading a book. If the book is what caused your sickness then don't read a Zombie Survival Guide by the same author. That one has pictures. I <3 Gears of War 2. Add me on Xbox Live and mention you are from Tif :D
