July 25, 200817 yr I just saw the thread of the sadist, so why not the longest? I think its the 10th kingdom, or the seventh kingdom(I cant remember)... Your guesses (please no google searches). And it has to be worth watching... My pure's stats: str:70attc:35def:4range:72mage:70hp:70
July 25, 200817 yr If you mean an actual movie, not a series or a...something else, then probably Return of the King, extended edition is 252 minutes. "Metal isn't about violence or faggy whiny lyrics. It isn't even about who plays the heaviest and fastest. It is about invoking a sense of wonder and magnitude that no other genre can depict."
July 25, 200817 yr *Agrees with Shenka*Never before or again has a cinema been paid $10 to be used as a hotel.I damn near fell asleep near the end, thank God for that war. so i herd u liek devarts? If you look at me and feel offended by my 666-ism,think.I could be just as offended by your "cross".[hide=This's why I'm hot]The Eleventh Commandment:Thou Shalst only say "Amen, brother".Amen, brother :lol:Amen, brudda (referring to the 10th commandment)amen Bruder! July 25, 200817 yr I think there is a film version of War & Peace that is very long. Found a link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_and_Pe ... 68_film%29 He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)
July 25, 200817 yr The first feature film ever made, The Birth of a Nation, was about 3 hours long. Pretty impressive considering 3 hours is regarded as a long movie today, and it was filmed with the most primitive equipment and methods. It was made in 1912 I think, or near that. Unfortunately it's about the formation of the Ku Klux Klan, and portrays them positively. :|
July 25, 200817 yr I just saw the thread of the sadist, so why not the longest? I think its the 10th kingdom, or the seventh kingdom(I cant remember)... Your guesses (please no google searches). And it has to be worth watching... 10th Kingdom is a Hallmark channel mini-series, not a movie.
July 25, 200817 yr It's that civil war one. I want to say it's called Gettysburg. It has an intermission and everything. 4 hours and 20 minutes approximately. Lawrence of Arabia is about 3 and half hours. "He could climb to it, if he climbed alone, and once there he could suck on the pap of life, gulp down the incomparable milk of wonder."

I agree with the Return of the King "nomination." But its length does not degrade the film at all. Every second of the film was precious, in my opinion. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
July 25, 200817 yr Found out Gettysburg is actually 261 minutes. We have a winner so far. "He could climb to it, if he climbed alone, and once there he could suck on the pap of life, gulp down the incomparable milk of wonder."
July 25, 200817 yr Cure for Insomnia - 87hrs ftw  Excluding that I think the first non-miniseries / multiple part movie is probably "Out 1" which is around 12hrs long.
July 25, 200817 yr Kill Bill is technically one movie, just split into two parts for theatrical purposes (and of course, you make more money haha). Not the longest, but it's really long. What is it? Like 250 minutes or summit? Edit: Just looked on Wikipedia, and it's 247 minutes.
July 25, 200817 yr I just read in the newspaper today about the uncut version of war and peace being played at some theater in new Hampshire. It is 8 hours long Look its rob!
July 25, 200817 yr A lot of these movies being mentioned are all a bunch of series movies. Those do not count for run time. If you have to put in another disc or tape with a different title on it, it doesn't count to the total run time, it starts back at zero. Oh and I really don't think Cure For Insomnia should really count as a movie. It's more of spoken word anyways. "He could climb to it, if he climbed alone, and once there he could suck on the pap of life, gulp down the incomparable milk of wonder."
July 26, 200817 yr each of the lord of the rings series are pretty long, cant remember exactly but definitely over 2 hours

Kill Bill WAS one movie, but Tarantino split it into two parts because no one would want to sit through a 4 hour movie in a theater...I say that counts. The original was one movie, it was released in two pieces...I mean, it's not like it's the Matrix.
July 26, 200817 yr If you want to count the three EE LotR movies as one, then you have like 11-12 hours. I've watched them back-to-back-to-back before... :wall: I never came close to falling asleep though, by far my favorite movies ever. Anyway, if you want to look at them individually, RotK is the longest of the three, as stated, the EE is 252 minutes. Though I really doubt that's the longest. Also noted, Gettysburg...We watched segments of it in history this year, my teacher said it was way too long to watch the whole thing. I know he said it was over four hours, I don't know exactly how long though. One of these? Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu.
July 26, 200817 yr The first feature film ever made, The Birth of a Nation Not true. Birth of a nation was made in 1915, by then already hundreds of feature films had been made. If you don't like the material 'Birth' deals with, try Griffiths Intolerance: Love's Struggle Through the Ages, which he had made in reaction on Birth. Broken Blossoms is also very good. Andy Warhol has made some really long movies. Empire runs about 500 minutes I think. War and Peace (the russian version is pretty long). A personal favorite of mine is Béla Tarr'sSátantangó. Clocking at 450 minutes. It's long, but I loved every minute of it. I doubt most of the users here will like it though. It's been released in the UK and you can get it for 16 pounds from play.com. Which is pretty cheap. Of course there is also Fassbinder's Berlin Alexanderplatz. Officiale it's a miniseries, but since last year it has been restored and it has played in cinemas. It clocks at 930 minutes. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
July 26, 200817 yr Author I just saw the thread of the sadist, so why not the longest? I think its the 10th kingdom, or the seventh kingdom(I cant remember)... Your guesses (please no google searches). And it has to be worth watching... 10th Kingdom is a Hallmark channel mini-series, not a movie. Didn't know that, I rented it from the video store, and it was all in one box, so I thought it was one! Nice Signature tripsis. My pure's stats: str:70attc:35def:4range:72mage:70hp:70

It clocks at 930 minutes. Yea, I thought of that also but had to discount it because of the miniseries factor; wasn't aware it had been restored and screened in cinemas though. Interesting gamble on their part; must've had a lot of faith in the public to play something outside the standard movie-maraton structure....
July 30, 200817 yr The series has got hurdes of fans though. And generally it was showed in two or three evenings. Raymond Bernard's version of Les Misérables is also pretty long. Five hours and a bit, especially for a movie that old it is quite something. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
July 30, 200817 yr Gods and Generals. It's the prequel to Gettysburg and I think it is even longer, but I'm not sure. Edit: Nope, I looked it up and it's a whooping 20 or so minutes shorter.
