June 7, 200521 yr why should students wear school uniforms? i need to know its for school. (\/) 42.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot.(O.o) cabbage rools(><) my sig is cool, if you agree put this in your sig. *is too lazy to animate*^the bunny is back! yay!
June 7, 200521 yr Because i had to when I was at school. Seriously, it increases order and behaviour around school. Compare normal days with non-uniform (or mufty) days. On mufty days you generally are more 'confident' - ie, more likely to misbehave, talk back etc. So it's a good method of keep order. Plus, if you wear the latest designer shirt to school, it's gonna get stolen. Even if you were wearing it at the time. Goals to get my skills back up to a barely respectable level on the high scores: Currently going for Bone to Peaches spell. It's amazing how boring doing the same repetitive task is! Stupid MTA

Secondly I don't feel more confident and have the urge to misbehave because I'm not wearing uniform. Not in the slightestest. Nothing I have ever seen even comes close to backing up what you said.
June 7, 200521 yr Erm, it was a joke. Get a sense of humour. And for evidence, look no further than the film About a Boy. Kid gets bought expensive trainers. Next day, kid returns from school in the rain, minus expensive trainers. It happends. Plus, some kid at a neighbouring school got beaten up for wearing the real version of a shirt. The kid that beat him was wearing a fake version, and didn't like being compared (and judged to be less) than the other kid. June 7, 200521 yr If a family cannot afford the latest trendy clothes or the big designer labels it can be a problem for their kids in school. Like it or not, what a child wears to school day in and day out can [and most often does] have an effect on how they are treated by their peers. In schools with uniform dress codes this can be ruled out because everyone is essentially wearing the same thing. I know the price. I pay it gladly.
June 7, 200521 yr Yeah, without school uniforms, there would probably be a lot more bullying in schools.

June 7, 200521 yr it worked great in early to mid 1900's germany, they slipped right in from school to the military in no time at all :D seriously, let me wear my own hand me down clothes, and ill feel just as good as the guy who spend $400 on a pair of pants. theres no reason for uniforms.
June 7, 200521 yr Since you need to know for school; the costumes were implented so the poor kids were equal to the rich kids and so there would be more equality on schools. Rich kids no longer had the expensive clothes everyone wants. Don't ask me if it works though. >_> Member of #darkwebz.
June 7, 200521 yr I would love uniforms at my school, I look great in khakis 8) I know the price. I pay it gladly.
June 7, 200521 yr At least it's one less thing for an adolescent to worry about at school. It also makes the atmosphere academic if everyone is smartly dressed. For it is the greyness of dusk that reigns. The time when the living and the dead exist as one.
June 7, 200521 yr so everyone looks the same = helps to stop bullying and singling out And no lol why do you always want to get stuff from John Lewis. Its over ̣̉300 more then than what i paid. John Lewis is a great, great shop.
June 7, 200521 yr less and less schools are wearing uniform Actually, it's quite the opposite in my area. All the schools around here - city, county, and private - are switching to uniforms if they didn't have them already. As for the whole evening out the rich-poor thingy, uniforms are *expensive*, or at least the ones we're getting are, so I don't see how they do much good. There's one main reason I support uniforms - modesty. It'll be nice not to be distracted from school work by girls in revealing clothing, lol. "In so far as I am Man I am the chief of creatures. In so far as I am a man I am the chief of sinners." - G.K. Chesterton
June 7, 200521 yr we had to do an essay on this for an assignment.... :x i think they do do that because they dont want toher kids to be made fun of about the way they dress, so they FORCE the people to wear the same thing. also something about unity crap..

June 7, 200521 yr Uniforms are expensive usually, as stated, so it doesn't have a point, really. My cousin had to pay a couple hundred dollars...I think $200 some, for her's. "Poor" people can't afford that either, lol. I never wanted them when I was in school, but now I say they should enforce them. Kid's are getting out of control, it's rediculous, I was sitting on my front step and some little 8 year old called ME a "[bleep]" for "looking at him wrong". What the hell is this crap? I mean I was disrespectful as a child too, but I never called random adults I didn't know a "[bleep]" just because they happen to look up at them when they're walking down the side-walk. There are these little bastards running around town right now that say "What's up dawg!!" everytime they see me, and I hate being called "dawg" by random people I don't know, hell, I hate being talked to by people I don't know. After they did it like 4 times, I told one of them I was going to break his face if he said it again, the kid was obviously unafraid because one of the other kids (I used to babysit the little freak..) knew I was 18 and told him that...So now everyday they ride their stupid bikes by and talk crap until I stand up, then they ride off. And the next time I hear a kid swear more than me, and at his parents no less, I am going to smack the little freak, swear to God. I'm never having kids.
June 7, 200521 yr Consumer terrorism. That's why. People will be far too judgemental on appearance, which could lead to bullying etc. I mean, look at the film Clueless, look at how much better Alicia Silverstone is from the other kids. School's about learning, not peerage. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
June 7, 200521 yr There's one main reason I support uniforms - modesty. It'll be nice not to be distracted from school work by girls in revealing clothing, lol. some of those uniforms though, with the skirts... :D i never got too distracted, but i would have never been able to make it through school if i didnt have half the day with hot girls in my class who usually wore nice short skirts.
June 7, 200521 yr i think girls looks very pretty in school uniforms :D Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. "Poor" people can't afford that either, lol. $150-200 for two uniforms is not that expensive considering they come with clothing for all seasons and can last a year or two. Designer label jeans go for around $100 a pair and it's at about $50 for a single T-shirt. Throw in the sweaters and shorts needed for the various seasons and consider the fact that kids don't want to be seen wearing the same outfit more than once a week and you are paying a hell of a lot more than what you would pay for uniforms. I know the price. I pay it gladly.
June 8, 200521 yr i despise school uniforms... they suppress individuality and uniqueness and are boring. maybe for the private schools where everything has to look rich and perfect, but seriously, i have never heard of someone being made fun of because of their clothes. its almost always another reason, like weight, sexuality, social status, etc. after all, its not whats on the outside that counts  if you are going to require uniforms, why not require no expensive jewelry, same shoes, socks, haircuts, backpacks, etc. starting to sound like communism.

June 8, 200521 yr seriously, uniforms would never be good around here, lets see why: We get uniforms, most people wear them, but the ubber cool bad [wagon] dont. Now the people that look up to them are wearing the uniform, but now are like "omfg, he isnt wearing it, why should i???!!?". Then they stop wearing it (these people i know wouldnt care about getting detentions or suspensions), then those people start to make fun of those that wear them. Then those with low self esteem either "turn to the dark side" and not wear them, or do suicide becase they hate themselves now. The rest that are wearing them, get called teachers pets, nerds you name it, but then unifroms just get taken away. Serisouly, i could see this happening at my school. Anyways, no one critizises people about their clothes unless you wear one peice that looks odd. At my school, your encouraged (by peers) to wear either the coolest thing, or something the is uniqe and cool. Anything else people may make fun of for a bit, but then people get used to it and nothing happens ever again. Also, no one really acts the way they do at my school becase the way they dress. Edit: forgot to say im not against uniforms, just that it would dystroy my schools social system :D Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you!
June 8, 200521 yr Well, I believe almost every public / private school in Australia is required to have a uniform. And off the top of my head reasons are: - Be able to identify between students and outsiders (safety) - Be able to identify kids who are waging - Respresentation anywhere (sports, excursions, etc) - Did I say saftey aready? There's plenty more than those but I'd have to find some kidn of official document to be sure :P And the uniforms at my school cost < AU$50 for everything you needed. Unless you were after a blazer and the more formal gear which the student council and such wore - in which case that would be borrowed unless you wanted to keep it. *shrug* @lionheart_0: Ironically anyone who would fit in the 'uber cool' group still wore the uniform. But they'd still look cool :P Seems to be a trait with them, doesn't matter what the clothing is, they'll still be able to make it cool... @Shas_O_Jay: I don't think they supress individuality. Uniforms have done nothing to supress that in this area. As for the jewelry and such, most schools I know of have some tight restrictions on that because of workplace health and safety + common sense ;)
June 8, 200521 yr So nobody is disgriminated for what they wear. I, living in the USA, think it's rediculous, because everybody should have a freedom to express themselves - Only character in Runescape History maxed out in RSC and RS2
