Fighting at School

How often do people actually fight? Not a lot happens at my school, except for the occasional trade of hits (and pushing), Except for once in a while, something different happens. Do you generally avoid fighting? Or do you fight when you have to?

Pretty much done with rs now

Not that often. I choose peace over violence, but sometimes people need to learn a lesson. Last year I beat up a kid because he was making fun of my friend. And the year before that, a kid beat me up because he thought I was making fun of his friend. Funny world we live in. :D

I'm too cool for fights.

In all seriousness, I haven't ever seen a real fight at my school, and I've only heard of like two. We're just one big happy family.

As far as me personally, never been in a fight. I don't act like an [wagon] to anyone so there's no reason to want to hit me, and I'm slow to anger so I never start things. And if there was a reason to pick a fight with me one would probably think twice. I'm pretty big, you see.

I have 3 scars and a broken nose from one in may, I won though.

Someone else bumped into him and the [wagon] punches me in the face thinking it was him...

Fighting/physical force is always a last resort and strategic resource. You don't want to build a reputation for being a wreckless barbarian who picks fights with everyone, but you also don't want to be known as someone who doesn't hit back if provoked.

You should never be "proud" to fight at school. It's something you have to do when there's no other option.

But if

1. your friends get seriously bullied

2. you see a weaker kid who has no protection against older kids

3. someone intentionally refuses to pay back a loan to you (tries to screw you over)

I wouldn't condemn violence as a last resort if talk doesn't work, even if my own child was involved.

I'll say once every 2-3 weeks. My school is designed with a central plaza with the classrooms around it (Outdoor school, mind you.). And when a fight breaks out everyone sees it and swarms to get a better view. It somewhat resembles in throwing a nice warm meal in the middle of an African village.

P.S Whats up with all the school topics? Worried about school starting again I see. ::'

I'll just say people who do stupid things to my friends come to school the next day in bandages.I've said many times, this guy tried to get touchy-feely with my girl friend.I'm especially proud of that "fight" if you can call it one.He tried to punch me,slow bastard he is,I dodged.Brought his arm down (with some complex twisting) and dislocated it.

1. Stabbing, killed 2 people then his self.

2. Numerous kids bringing guns to school

3. 7 bomb threats in 3 weeks from 2 people

4. Columbine like event threat.

5. Lots of drug busts

6. a total of 300 fights in a school year (240 days)

Welcome to hell.

^ A lot! My school haven't had that many fights in it's whole lifetime.

We had about 6 major fights in school this term and last term (Wonder if this is the right word), I was in 50% of them. It's because people tend to "pick" on me a lot.

I try to stay out of fights. Last year there were three fights in the same day, and a fight everyday for about 2 weeks after that. Besides that there isnt usually a lot of fighting at my school. The year before that there was only one fight the entire year. Though it's gonna be kinda lonely at my school this year, they're building a new high school and (most of) my friends are going to the new high school. Which means no backup in actual fights. :o

Yes it's a dumb way but it could also be the only option at some points. Example, what if this person makes you feel like [cabbage] everyday and you've done everything, talked with him/her, his/her parents, school (Assuming this is only common with us teens), etc. I would say that fighting is the only way out here, I don't think changing school solve it as your just running away, I've switched school a couple of times because of this and it haven't solved a thing as I was a easy target because I was "down" by all the "bullying". Fighting with this person gave me some "momentum"/time where I didn't get bullied as they didn't want to experience the same thing that I did to this person.

Backup is for chickens unless your opponent have backup as well ;).

Unless there is an unbiased crowd of witnesses, they usually do.

Never had the problem myself but I get your point, my bad.

I've never heard of a case where the bully wouldn't stop after talking to him, parents, teachers, suspension.

if theres a fight at my school, you can bet all the guys are involved. You see, my school idealizes the system of wingmen, where groups of 3 - 7 people always back each other up. Hence, you can bet that someone in the group your fighting has a wingman in another group thats on its way, and the same for your enemy. We also make it a point to record how many punches we land and if theres blood or not, due to post fight bragging issues.

1. That's terrible. You shouldn't be proud of fighting. It should be used as a last resort. Talking thing out/running away should be your first 2 options.

2. If you want to count something, count knock outs and broken bones. That least there's proof of that.

:o Really? From what I've seen, it just makes it worse. Sometimes revenge will be on their mind and they will think you are a weak target for "tattling".

To be honest I have only ever actually heard about one fight in my entire time at school. It seems like some schools are MUCH more dangerous then others - I have heard about other schools in my area that are constantly having problems with kids bringing drugs, guns and other things to school and having fights.

point 1, fights are rare, I merely meant it as when it does come down to one, it's like Christmas in july.

point 2, half the kids in my school are too weak to even draw blood after say, 5 punches. There's only ever been one k.o. (the receiver being I, some [wagon] hit me with a rock) and I doubt some kids could break bones when given a lead pipe and a chainsaw.
