Fighting at School

I don't get whats wrong about fighting. At my school, if you tattle you get into a fight, if you don't tattle you still get into a fight. Also, before anyone says anything, yes I have been in a fight, it hurt but the rush of adrenaline was fun.

Take a martial art. You'll learn how deadly your hands are and how easily you can seriously hurt someone. Now can you tell me why it would be bad for people with no training in any sort of fighting to be fighting? Think about this: There are 2 spots on your face (I will not tell you where they are) that will put a person into shock if struck correctly (or accidently). Did you know these points are EXTREMELY close to a points where people tend to punch?

At my school, you won't go 1 year without seeing at least 5 Fights. (actually seeing them, not just hearing about it)

I just keep my mouth shut. and I keep to myself. I always get called "Goth" or "Emo" at my school. I just ignore it and walk away. I could care less what other people think of me.

There's been a couple fights at my school, nothing major though. Just a couple kids being idiots to each other. I personally haven't been in a fight, never really liked violence. There's one guy who's a jerk to me sometimes, but that's only because he's high. When he's not on something, he's not that bad of a guy really. Still time left in school though, so that could all change. :ohnoes:

There were at least 10 fights a year back in high school. I was only in one and it was because one of my good friends, who happened to be relatively small, was getting shoved around, and me, being a good 6'4" and 215 lbs, I decided to help him out and beat up 3 guys. I got an out-of-school suspension but the principal thanked me for sticking up for my friend. It was a really cool moment when that happened.

The only reason I would ever fight is to defend myself or a friend. I'm rarely on the attacking side. And it's never one of those "formal" fights with rules and stuff, it's always a spur-of-the-moment thing.

My school is pretty peaceful though, mainly everyone is friends. The popular people are actually cool, as in they're nice and willing to be friends with basically anyone. However, there are those who want to be popular and cool, by trying to act tough and mean and try to pick fights. So it's always those people against everyone else.

My friends (And I, kind of) are the geeks/nerds, so we're known as "weak" and "unable to fight back." So those people tend to pick on us...Normally not me, since I have some...Connections, but some of my friends get pushed around a lot. I'll admit, I can't control my temper well, so I've gotten into a few "fights", defending my friends.

For the record though, a few years ago, two girls got into a fight over a boy. One shoved the other's head through a window.

I made someone mad like really mad so we got in a fight and i punched him and gave him a nose bleed and he was like crying.

He was 2 yrs older than me.

I also find that privite schools have less fights than normal schools.

At my school there are plenty of small skirmishes, but there are only one or two serious fights per year. And by serious I mean attempted murder by means of punching and kicking, no weapons though. Our teachers are pretty hardcore, and actually enter the fray and fight back if attacked. Usually a tackle from one of the larger teachers/coaches does the trick. One time the school police officer had to use a taser. It was pretty cool, to be honest. But yeah, me and my friends are never picked on by anyone so I have never really had an opertunity to fight. There is a group of "TAP OUT!" kids and they are pretty much the only ones who fight, and it's almost always amongst themselves. All and all my school is pretty tame for a public school, at least where I live.

I've been in lots of fights, the teachers in my old school did nothing.

At this new school, the punishments are much more severe so there are only about 5 fights a year. I was in one :/ We started fighting infront of the teacher's lounge -.-

School fights are normal, nothing special...

Fights in my school are generally "uncommon", I use the term loosely.

Most or rather, all of the fights in my school usually involve a few shoving, be generous a punch or two before either:

1. Both parties stop and stare at each other angrily before walking away

2. The fight is split up by wandering teachers who notice the huge amount of students gathering around a class cheering. (Yes, we cheer and "place bets" on who would win)

3. One of the "fighters" act like a complete Jack@ss and laugh and make jokes as if he's fighting an idiot after dodging or landing one blow before running off. (This really pisses me off, I mean fights aren't correct but would it kill someone to be serious about it?)

Thats for fighting, if we were talking about shouting Chinese/Hokkien vulgarity and swinging of arms while boldly challenging fights, that would be another thing as its very common in our school. I personally find that as an act of coward and would rather prefer them to fight than loudly declare that you're correct.

I myself have been in 2 or 3 fights. 2 was because the same guy was taunting me after being scolded by a teacher and another was after another guy kept slapping me in the face.

wow, you guys got some real stories. My school is full of punks, they walk in groups "trying" to scare people and pick fights, when they do not even know any form of martial arts, and when they are alone, they do not say anything.

Yes it's a dumb way but it could also be the only option at some points. Example, what if this person makes you feel like [cabbage] everyday and you've done everything, talked with him/her, his/her parents, school (Assuming this is only common with us teens), etc. I would say that fighting is the only way out here, I don't think changing school solve it as your just running away, I've switched school a couple of times because of this and it haven't solved a thing as I was a easy target because I was "down" by all the "bullying". Fighting with this person gave me some "momentum"/time where I didn't get bullied as they didn't want to experience the same thing that I did to this person.

Backup is for chickens unless your opponent have backup as well ;).

Unless there is an unbiased crowd of witnesses, they usually do.

Never had the problem myself but I get your point, my bad.

I've never heard of a case where the bully wouldn't stop after talking to him, parents, teachers, suspension.

I have i actually remember the principal coming around when this particular fella wasn't there and telling everyone that enough is enough and if anyone even teases this kid again it would be an instant suspension, Well it didn't really do anything (this was also after repeated warnings before this) and kids continued to pick on and fight him until he eventually decked the guy stirring all the trouble and i believe it stopped to some extent after that.

Not too common. Usually settled after school. Lots of just guys messing around, of course. But if someone tries to actually start a serious fight, odds are we won't let it happen. Friends'll pull them apart and all that. I have to say I did break a kid's nose for calling a lady friend of mine a [bleep], after spreading some nasty rumors. And we've gotten into fights with some nasty kids from New York or something that kept making fun of the South. It reminded me so much of that scene from Firefly: "Face me when you say that." "(Words) What're you gonna do about it?"

"Nothin'. I just wanted you to face me so (s)he could get behind you." This must be followed with a :twss:. Of course.

I want to be in a real, down-home Southern barfight sometime. It'd be fun. ::'

Oh, and deloria, I happen to know what you're talking about, and it is very easy to hit there. But unless you're being attacked from either side, a certain bone will protect it well enough.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Well, most wouldn't really be called fights, more like 'shove-fests', I can recall a few times that things actually came to blows, but in all honestly, my HG is pretty safe for a public school. Now, my junior high, that was a different matter... I can recall seeing at least two fights every month, usually more, and on one occasion, the band teacher was hospitalized when some kid decked him... (Admittedly, that teacher was a real [wagon] to almost everyone..)

I haven't ever really gotten into a fight.. I guess it helps that pretty much everyone my age seems to think that I am a touch insane. I can't imagine why.

There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.

To be honest, I really haven't had to defend myself AT ALL in my middle school so far. I'm going to 8th grade, what about the new 6th graders? And 7th graders? And any new 8th graders? I will defend my friends, however.

Pretty much done with rs now

I got into a number of fights in elementary school. Bullies and the like. I haven't fought at school since like the 4th grade, though. Probably because we get more mature as we age and thus we're less inclined to fight.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

I've only been in 3 real fights.

One was in grade 8, where I basically beat up some guy who started me. I was young and wanted to fight him anyway because he was a smart [wagon].

Another was in grade 10 when I stood up to a 12th grader for tackling younger kids over rocks in a game of football. After a bit of pushing I hit him twice, but then more than 50 people rushed him, punching and stomping the guy. He ended up concussed with a fractured eye socket and ankle. I felt bad about that one.

The third one was at an open house this year with over 500 people, it had over 20 fights and half of them turned out into huge brawls with 50+ randoms swinging at randoms. I didn't want to get involved because of how dangerous it was, but some random guy was getting stomped and kicked on the ground by 10+ people for no reason, then he got bottled (which left him permanently blind in 1 eye) and I started swinging and pulling people off him. I was drunk and wasn't thinking, luckily I only got hit once and the group didn't turn on me.

Fighting someone in order to stand up for the victims has a snowball's chance in hell for happening in my school.

Most of the people that start fights are usually those with big-egos and tons of friends and they go around bullying some random person. Unless you are one of the "popular kids" who is well-respected and has a comparable amount of friends, standing up for those victims of the bully is close to pointless as they'll only change their target to you and you can pray all you want but for a regular kid like me, no one is going to stand up for you as no one wants to get on the bullies bad side.

The most likely scenario would be that they watch in the background as you are being bullied and come to comfort you and say crap like "The bully is weak, hes a coward" only after the bullying ends.

All of the fights that I've been involved in involves me and my friends fighting, never against those bullies. Whenever Im faced with a bully, I'll usually ignore em as I know that I have totally no chance of winning despite the fact that the bully's in the wrong. And it'll be a damn miracle should someone stand up for a regular-everyday-normal-guy like me.

I guess its just one of the unfair things in life where popularity really does matter. It really does piss me off though, that such things are happening in schools yet not much can be done about it.

I have a great reputation to have a poker face when being hustled. Then I beat up those who bully my friends.

Great fun playing with people's opinions of me,though it does get boring with the stares.
