So, after three days on the road I've come to a conclusion. Long drives suck, but they suck even more when they're unnecessarily dragged out.

Have to more ~2000km for a job I took, and while I'm getting reimbursed (and technically paid because I'm on salary) for my drive, its pretty infuriating to only be allowed to drive 500km/day. Especially today, day 3/4 in the trip when I had to stop at approximately 2 this afternoon 3hrs from where I'm headed.

That's all? Isn't that 5 hours of driving (or less?) Wonder what they expect you to do the other err, 19...

I have no idea, the only thing I've found is to get on the road relatively late (10ish) and then watch some movies to kill time after I stop.

So i went through the "People you may know" thing on Facebook yesterday because i was looking for a girl who's number i lost. I knew her name but not how to spell it, and she mentioned she knows a few friends of mine so i figured i might find her. Anyway, as i was scrolling through the list i saw a ton of the people i used to go to school with back in South Africa. I kind of lost touch with most of them after i moved out here, as things normally go. They're all obviously the same age as me, but it seems like their lives are so much different. 26/27, married, kids, jobs, bills to pay, etc. I think out of the 10 or so really close friends i had only one of them isn't married with kids, and it's because he's gay (and i believe still sort of in the closet). Here i am, closing in on 27, no job, no wife, no kids, and pretty much no obligations. I don't know why, but i found i gave me a really strange feeling. Is that what i would have become had i never moved? Looking at things now i can't say that i really want to get married, at least not in the near future. It has nothing to do with committing to only 1 sexual partner (i think i could deal with that) but more so the fact that i don't really want to give up my current lifestyle, which i would have to do if i invite someone else into my life in that manner.

I'm someone who enjoys getting home, putting on a series while i make food, then spending the rest of the night playing video games or going out with friends. Not even to mention the fact that i'm one of those people who watches gaming tournaments. Try explaining that to a girl. I just don't see that changing. And i can't imagine many of the girls i've met in the past couple of years would settle for that either. Heck, even sometimes when i go on dates i sit there the entire time thinking "i'd rather be home playing games/i'd rather be out with friends, when does the sex come". It's so weird, and for a long time i felt sort of embarrassed about it even though i'm sure my life is 100 times better than theirs. And this is not me being cocky, this is me being honest. I have literally no worries in the world. I have a [bleep]ing nice car, great friends, a loving family, friends with benefits, i don't have too much trouble hooking up with new girls either. I don't have to worry about kids, waking up to take them to school, picking them up, etc. I don't have to worry about a nagging wife and keeping her happy, etc.

Anyway... Just something i randomly thought of today. Weird how different my life is from the people i grew up with, people who i used to think were like-minded.

Turns out second time's the charm, I am now a licensed driver!

Had to take a 6 hour bus trip to the exam place though...

And shitty stuff is, I can't get the plastic card thingy pretty much before July, meaning I can't drive abroad...

I think that's why most people avoid social media Noxx. If you're happy, who cares what else is going on?

It's not really like it bothers me at all, it's just a curiosity thing. I'm just really curious as to what goes/went through their heads. Getting married at such a young age seems like such a waste. Probably not the best way to put it, but i can't really think of any other way. I'm grateful every day that i moved away from SA and from that mentality. I find it ironic because when i was 10 years younger i was the one saying i would be married by 25 and they were the ones saying they were going to wait till they're much older, now it's the complete opposite.

The older i get the harder i find it to believe that married people are 100% happy/satisfied. I can't imagine eating the same steak for the rest of my life, even if i get to eat it everyday.

Today I added a class derived from QueryResourceProvider. I named it BindPoseSilhouetteQueryResourceProvider.

Succinct name. Analogous to the brevity of Moby Dick.

If you think getting married is like eating steak, I think you'd be wise to avoid it :)

I'm sure you understood the analogy anyway.

Do you only value sex in an intimate relationship?

If yes, then the analogy works. If not, then it doesn't.

Of course not, which is why the analogy works in multiple ways.

I get what you're saying. What I'm saying is that based on your post, you have the type of personality that may not be conducive to marriage. There's nothing wrong with this (a lot of people are like this) as long as you realize it and don't try to get married when it will just make you unhappy.

I'm one exam away from my undergraduate degree. I've been so lucky with exams (everything I've revised in strong detail has come up as an essay question)

I'm technically an unofficial graduate as we speak (you can fail a maximum of 30 credits) and I've only got 15 credits left to sit and I haven't failed anything else so....

But it's been quite the rollercoaster, at times I've felt like dropping out so it's been pretty monumental to actually reach the end.

I don't feel bittersweet at all, I cant wait to get out of here, it's been like a mental prison that I've fought with all my heart to withstand, and it's finally about to pay off.

I'm moving to the opposite side of the country, and I feel so happily disconnected from life here that I'm ready to make this transition.

People already adjust by themselves, for the most part. The birth rate in most western countries is well below replacement (and that's with the vast majority of people getting married, some multiple times). As wealth increases, people have fewer children.

I crashed my bicycle today after I turned a corner too fast going downhill. The road pavement in that area hasn't been finished a year later, so it's really weird juxtaposition of pavement and yard.

Road rash on my hands, arms, side, and right knee. Hurts like a [bleep]. Handlebar is turned nearly 1/8 circle, too. Glad I didn't hit my head but I had my helmet on so I (hope) I would've been ok in such a case.

Two vehicles passed me as I got up and didn't even stop. Found that amusing in reflection.

There's a reason I wear full gear on my scooter, whatever the weather. If I got beat up that badly going 15 mph, imagine what it's like at 30+ mph. And then I see people on 1000cc bikes wearing a t-shirt, shorts, flip-flops, and a half helmet more often than not...

Will get gloves, knee pads, and elbow pads before I go bicycling again, though it won't be for a while. This was the last straw. A few days ago hit the some psychopath hit the gas hard as I began making a left turn (I signal!), and came less than 1 inch from hitting me after I braked. If I braked less than a tenth of a second later, I'd have been in the hospital at best. They kept speeding up after they passed me.

I'm tired of bicycling in the same routes anyway. 2,000 miles in my damn neighborhood this year alone. Pathetic.
