I've always loved to make fun of the Filipino and Vietnamese accents since a lot of FOB asians live near my area :lol:

I'm very fond of the true Received Pronunciation, also known as Oxford English or 'posh'. It's both a pleasure and a torture to listen to, say, Emma Thompson or Alan Rickman. I'll never ever have that accent, English being my second/third language.

As for Dutch, I prefer the Flemish accent over the Holland accent. It's softer, too many Dutch consonants are turning voiceless (z becomes s, b becomes p, v becomes f, d becomes t). And they tend to use far too many diphtongues.

Even though most people experience their own accent or dialect as "just plain", there is no universal version of "just plain". What you might experience as "just plain" still is an accent.

When I was in Montana I didn't hear an accent. That may have been because I never left the airport though. I don't think people from D.C. really had accents either.

Not to sound finicky, but Japanese itself doesnt strictly have an accent. Theres only one set way to say things in Japanese (of course, different dialects may use different vocabulary etc).

 

Observe;

 

 

Its just that English has too many sounds and they cant get their mouths around them. For instance, Japanese doesnt have an L sound, so they have to use an R instead (same for V and B, respectively). Of course, their grammar is also complete lolwut compared to ours, so they say things wrongly.

 

 

 

Though im sure what youre talking about is the stereotypical goofy "Herro, you are the English speaker? I practice speak with you, yes?" speaking.

I think the Danish accent is my favorite, You can't understand a thing so you just smile and nod.

All those three languages come from Old Norse... However, the plaque killed all the Norwegians who could write, hence a lot of our language died with them, so now we speak Danish, just understandable.
