August 14, 200817 yr Well, this sucks. My dad's credit card expired and had to be renewed a week after the price changes.... I just happened to run out of membership during that time, and I have to pay the new price... I hate timing. :wall: Can be looted to obtain a variable item and reobtain the imp jar. August 14, 200817 yr It's only a dollar more. With all the recent updates, it's worth it. I'll have to do this in 2010 when my credit card expires, though.

If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased. The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

I just happened to run out of membership during that time, and I have to pay the new price... I hate timing. :wall: That stinks, but Omali has a good point. The game has really gotten better. (If you're looking on the bright side of things, and if your not dwelling on the small, dull things. :P ) A dollar is still a lot of money.. If you look at it in the long run, it may look like that, but by paying for membership, you are definately getting practically a whole other BIG game in return. Plus, you are happier having membership. (Hopefully) :
August 14, 200817 yr duuuudes, maybe you should read teh news archives once again : [If you are an existing member and you allow your membership to lapse for more than two weeks (after the 18th of August), you will be charged the new rate when you re-subscribe. Credit card renewal shouldn't take two weeks, should it? :anxious:
August 14, 200817 yr It's only a bit more, and it's only fair since they haven't increased their prices over the last few years, while there was a certain inflation going on. Nothing to really rant about imo. Twitter ||| Google+ ||| Facebook ||| LinkedIn ||| My very interesting weblog about science
August 14, 200817 yr They had to raise prices because they lost a lot of people, also the value of the American dollar is going down. Retired from Runescape September 1, 2008
August 14, 200817 yr After wildereness removal they lost 60K memberships (official number) Considering they still report over 1 million members this is less that 6%.. How is that "a lot of people"?
August 15, 200817 yr After wildereness removal they lost 60K memberships (official number) Considering they still report over 1 million members this is less that 6%.. How is that "a lot of people"? That's 3.6 million dollars a year they lost. They will be profiting by 7.6m when people have to pay the new rate, but A) American dollar sucks B) People will have to be cahrged the new rate gradually, over time.
August 15, 200817 yr Do you know what inflation is? It's a miracle that JaGEx hasn't increased the fee earlier.

I highly doubt Jagex is putting all of their revenue back into the company.

August 15, 200817 yr Author Part of the problem is that i'm saving up for Spore and I can't really afford to renew my subscription now. I probobly will end up renewing it by the end of the year, but lately, RS has been somewhat boring, with most of the content being out of my reach/intrest. Can be looted to obtain a variable item and reobtain the imp jar. If you are insane, it can instead be exchanged for impling jars from Elnock Inquisitor.

August 15, 200817 yr Still, that is 3.6 million of updates, enough for quite a few employees, a few new servers. They compensate for not having to chase RWT'ers all day now. Also, where does it say they lost 60k members? I'd like to see a source on that information. Twitter ||| Google+ ||| Facebook ||| LinkedIn ||| My very interesting weblog about science
August 16, 200817 yr It's only a dollar more. With all the recent updates, it's worth it. I'll have to do this in 2010 when my credit card expires, though. Not really. Just buy like 60 days of membership with the card so you have plenty of time. To the OP, that sucks, and while it is only a dollar more per month, that does add up over time, even if not much.
August 16, 200817 yr if your quick you can go to your local wal-mart or a store that specializes in video games and buy a $20 (i think that's the only ammount) card for runescape. my only question is are they going to increase the ammount of money on those cards later, 20 bucks gets you 4 months of membership on the old rates but only 3 with some coins left over using the new subscription rates (rough estimate, but it stinks having un-usable cash on a card :x ).

How is that "a lot of people"? 60,000? Official? I want to see some links before you start spewing utter garbage. The price of a million gold shot up to $20 to $25 - and the clean-up cost RuneScape 60,000 subscribers. Here's the article for ya :) http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/b ... 285256.ece It's near the bottom of the article.
August 27, 200817 yr Due to inflation, the actual cost of membership is only very slightly higher than what it originally was. It's just gone down slowly over the years and readjusted itself back to normal again. It isn't some kind of evil scheme to cheat us out of our money. ;) ~ W ~
August 28, 200817 yr A simple $5 increased to $5.95? Sounds like an omen. Runescape is becoming more corporate.
August 29, 200817 yr If you think about it, eventually everyone will have to pay the new price won't they? It's just sheer bad luck you have to pay it before us all :D Li Chef /m\_(-.-)_/m\"The sort of twee person who thinks swearing is any way a sign of lack of education or of a lack of verbal interest is just [bleep]ing lunacy" ~ Stephen Fry The Creativity Shack - A forum for Writers, Artists and Musicians
