Live Concerts

Well I guess I'll start with my first conecert, (I've only been to two).

My first ever concert was Tool, in the U.S. Cellular Center near where I live. It. Was. AMAZING. The music was awesome, although for some reason Maynard decided not to have a spotlight on him at all, so you either couldn't see him/could see his silhouette against the screens playing the music videos behind him. Was pretty awesome. During Vicarious, a black curtain fell behind them, and revealed their 10,000 days cover, only with actual color. Was EPIC. Went deaf for a few seconds after it. The music videos were sweet, and they had a pretty cool laser show going on. They had a pretty bad (in my opinion) opening band, a Japanese band (I think) called Meltbanana. We couldn't understand them, because they were screaming too much.

My second concert was Flyleaf, Breaking Benjamin, and Three Days Grace. It was a late Christmas present from my brother, who I went with. That was even more epic than the Tool concert. Flyleaf was pretty cool, although it was hard to understand the singer because the bass was up way too much. But it was a good show. Breaking Benjamin was kick[wagon]. Played a whole bunch of good songs, and a few I've never heard of. When they played... Savior? I don't know the name, it's the one they had in Halo 2? Anyway, when they played that, they had a bunch of Halo vids playing behind them. The trailers from Halo 3 and Halo Wars. It was pretty awesome . They also played "Dream on" by Aerosmith. That was pretty kick-[wagon] as well  Had pictures of famous singers/guitarists/bass players/etc. going on behind them, thought that was nice of them, and also because it is a good song  . And lastly, Three Days Grace. The show-stealer for me. Awesome songs, and lots of crowd interaction and all. Before they played Riot, they asked what they wanted to hear next, and everyone said Riot, and the singer said "I apologize in advance Cedar Rapids, but we won't be playing Riot tonight.................. Nah, I'm just [cabbage]ing you!!!" *goes deaf again*. The drummer also did a pretty cool drum solo. He recorded some tribal-sounding taps, then played them while jamming out. While he was, the platform he was on rotated, thought that was awesome as well. And at the end, 8 geysers of fire erupted  Heat level went from "comfortable" to "Holy crap it's hot in here" and back in about 2 seconds. And I was a good distance away from them. After that, they used the pyrotechnics for most of the songs after. We didn't stay for the very end, because we wanted to beat the crowds, plus it was late and we had work/school after. The last song was Animal I've Become (right? I don't pay attention to names, only the songs ), and it just wouldn't seem to end, so we left before it finished. Was a great night.

Unfinished netherrack symbol of Khorne.

Never forget. ~creeper face w/single tear~

DO YOU HEAR THE VOICES TOO?!?!

Going to see Enter Shikari tonight. Gonna be awesome.

Ahh I wanted to go to that just for The King Blues, they're really good live. Have fun!

You're right. They were [bleep]ing awesome.

It was a great night. Really insane.

So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth,

These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf,

Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in,

Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything,

Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel,

Tear up the book and write your own damn rules,

Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got,

And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut,

And realise that the other world that you're always looking for,

Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door,

And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas,

After all, you were put on the earth to do this,

So shine your light so bright that all can see,

Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be.

I don't really know anything about Enter Shikari, but they're coming here in April with A Day to Remember and Silverstein and a couple other bands. I don't think I'll go though since I don't really like any of the bands very much, except a song or two by ADTR.

Oh, Jaerk, if you read this: Between the Buried & Me is coming here again, same venue. They're not headlining though, Mastodon is. There's two other bands I haven't heard of also playing. So I doubt I'll go.

Tiesto live. AMAZING. saw him in the Berlin love parades of 2006 and 07 i think it was, then he came live to where i live, for an intimate concert. he wanted max 500 people, and played all new sets for a "student environment.

classical artists that were also epic live: Anne Sophie Mutter, yo yo Ma, bobby Mcferrin, Jay - Z was a real performer, Deep purple really love the Hell blues festival, so their gigs there are always epic. Robyn live was pretty intense, but she got kinda tired after 2 hours (!) but kept on going :D Metallica live was great, playing in midnight sun, it makes for crazy atmosphere.

but yeah, I can't think of any way in which you can beat Tiesto when he's playing to have fun, for the crowd size he wants, for 7 hours. He just decided he wanted to visit the city i live in cause he heard it was epic to play (from Jay z), and then he just had fun.

If you ever have the chance, hear bands live. it shows who are arists, and who are posers who get hollywoodified :P

I'll... video it for you guys?

Do it.

Oh, Jaerk, I'd actually have the opportunity to go to the Seattle show 'cause it's during my spring break. But my dad would have to take a day off or something because he works during that time, and we'd probably have to get a hotel for the night because it's like a 4 hour drive back, and apparently the venue is terrible. meh

Considering it, but it's during a school week and I don't like Mastodon and haven't even heard of the other bands. Meh I got like 2 months to think it over.
