XxTearGodxX
For players who create a new subscription, the monthly cost of RuneScape membership has increased 30p in the UK, $0.95 in the US and by similar amounts in other currencies. These examples are of increases on credit card prices - all other payment types have been increased by a similar margin. For a list of the new prices, please view the Billing Options page. If you have an existing subscription, set up before the 18th August, then this price change will not affect you. You will continue to pay the lower price for as long as you keep your membership valid. As long as you do not allow your membership to lapse for more than two weeks (after the 18th of August), you will continue to pay at this lower RuneScape price. We are also offering a 'loyalty' rate, for those of you who have paid at the slightly increased price for a long period. If you pay at the higher rate for 12 months (without a gap of more than 14 days) you will be offered the lower, $5 (£3.20) rate at the end of the year. For those of you who pay by Surfpin or PaybyCash, there are some points to note due to the way your payments are made: * If you make a payment at the lower price, but have an account that is charged at the higher price, then you will receive fewer days of credit. * If you make a payment at the higher price, but have an account that is charged at the lower price, then you will receive more days of credit. We recently introduced a method of making direct payments using Wallie Cards for RuneScape. With the recent price increase, existing Wallie Card subscribers will be pleased to find out that they are able to keep paying a lower price. Wallie cards are available in lots of stores in the EU and Switzerland, and can be used for longer, multiple-month subscriptions.

steviej
There is plenty of discussion value here... I think its sort of bs how if i take a break for a month or two after today, i have to start paying an extra dollar/month even though i've been fairly loyal to the game for years... My account spent most of the last 10 months "locked"
Fairness
If that $1 stings you you could get a year's subscription if you expect to play a lot still before the break. And it's not exactly like people take months of breaks every day, is it? There, now that the discussion value is gone... You're being watched. Of course there is room for discussion about the price changes, players can discuss whether or not they think it is a fair increase. Whether or not they think it is worth the increase. If a Tip.it Mod finds this topic non-discussable they may close it, I'll leave it up to them to decide. As for the Article itself, I am glad to be paying the $5.00 dollar membership fee still and hope I don't get canceled anytime soon. I also think it's kind of Jagex to have the "loyalty" option, for players who pay the new price for 1 year to be allowed again to pay the old membership fee. How can we discuss $.30 as a "fair" increase? That is minimal, barely over 5% I think. (American value is $5 a month?). The price of everything here in the UK has risen pretty much, so Jagex can raise their prices.
Gravy
Well if I ever come back, I guess it's higher prices for me after 2yrs of loyality! Nah, it's pretty fair of them to do this, and pretty damn fair for them to have a loyality rate. Veryhyper
Smart move by Jagex, players will be more reluctant to cancel their memberships for small breaks and to get the discount at the end of the year. Even so 6 bucks isn't a lot.

mervinator_9
Does this really deserve a topic? Not in its current form, maybe if a little debate was added into the OP like "do you thing this is fair" or "will these prices keep rising" then it would, in answer to my own questions 1) ye, with all the new updates its worth it, not that ill be paying it as i dont take massive breaks from members 2) No, this is probally a one off, (lol having discussions with yourself is fun  ) Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,I like to think I walk this line every day. Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man. You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs. nightzero
Tbh im actually cancelling my membership next week (not b/c of this) and I really dont give a *cabbage* about 1 dollar....I mean if anyone complains they need to go shop for groceries sometime......almost every single item has risen in price. 1 dollar increase is not much and I doubt that they will keep doing it....this is the first change since 2003 and inflation surely excuses a dollar increase. lulz wut? ddaanniiellh
I found it rather interesting that they offer loyalty discount after a year, never heard of any other game doing that. ~Dan : 1437 : 173Lowest Combat to 1,000 Total in F2P (23 Combat)Check me out on YouTube! The price of everything here in the UK has risen pretty much, so Jagex can raise their prices. Reread the OP - it's not $.30 - it's 30 British pence / $0.95 USD - so your percentages are way off. That's really a 19% increase. So if you end up paying $5.95 for a year ($71.40), they will cut you a break and roll back to $5 a month ($60 a year). I wish Jagex would find a way to sell a year at a time to debit card holders rather than $5 x 12 as month-to-month. You'd think the cheaper processing charges would make them want to do that. And to the horse's [wagon] who spammed the topic with a 100K irrelevant picture - please do not pollute the gene pool. Faux
When RuneScape becomes $10 a month. \ I used to pay $10 a month before already. I would subscribe /month and t would amount to $7.50 or so. But since Canada doesn't print paper loonie, I just put in a $10 bill. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::

Mylez
The price difference is only small, so wont really bother me. And Walle cards don't affect me either. I don't think there is that much room for discussion here, especially as the poster only quoted Jagex and didn't really give a reason for discussion/clear subject reason
SirHartlar
Edited Quote ~mcneilp He isn't being a "10-year-old-flame-happy scrub(unnecessary dashes ftw?)", he makes a valid point. The only posts so far have been you lot flaming each other and people saying "the increase isn't much" or that they think it is fair. Two pages now and I haven't seen much of a detailed intelligent, bar the person that correct my failed maths. :P
