Shiny
Can you even stand them? Do you think they have gone too far with the whole "Customize your own look"? ... Well personally I love them. My first time I ever played a racing game i was 6 or 7 and it was Gran Turismo (sp?). Albeit bad graphics, I loved the game, and it was a breakthrough. I then moved onto the original Midnight club. That too date, has been my definite least favourite racing game, bt Rockstar made up with Midnight Club 3. That game was brilliant, and I loved all the ways you could customize your car. It was great. As of later I haven't seen many good games of this genre. Juiced 2 was rubbish, and was the original. Need for speed has gone over the edge, what are they up to now. In fact, I can onl really think of Forza Motorsport as being good. Is this the Racing genre's darkest era? Tell me what you think, your favourite racing games, what you liked about them and such. Im also on the lookout for good racing games, just point them may way.
eggzs
I reckon the best racing game is GT4, 700+ cars, many tracks (forgot the excat number) and 1080i graphics... all on PS2. Sadly my PS2 broke a few months ago and I sold all my games and the only reason that I want a PS3 for is GT5.
Riku3220
I don't spend my time spending virtual money making my car look nice, i spent my virtual money for the things under the hood. and my 20 year old brother wonders why i beat NFS carbon 3x as fast as him :wall: anyways my favorite racing series is Burnout. i love making other die in horrible car wrecks :
Lenin64
Mmm, Burnout is great. Especially Revenge, Traffic Checking ftw. I hear Grid is pretty awesome, but I haven't gotten the chance to experience it myself. Command the Murderous Chalices! Mr_Putter
I just have wierd tastes in racing games...mostly because most of them have bad learning curves. They are either too easy with very little time taken to become a champion, or they are too sim-like and then people who have put in months of time will win every single time (and that's intimidating). In the past, though, I've enjoyed GTR2 (unbelievably difficult), Need for Speed 3, 4, 5 (Hot Pursuit, High Stakes, and Porsche Unleased), and Trackmania Nations Forever. I kind of want to try GRiD as most reviews said it was too sim-y for arcade fans and visa-versa. Though since I didn't get it at launch, I'm now doomed to be beaten by people who did. eggzs
pfft at ricing your cars up like majority of the Racing games, I spend most my time adjusting gear ratios, tuning engines and testing tires than putting a large pieces of plastic around my car. mrpez
i never really enjoyed racing games. probably because i could go outside and drive around in a real car. the only driving game i liked was twisted metal. "like" is an understatement. i love that game.

Stephen9o3
I highly suggest Trackmania Nations Forever to everyone here. It's a FREE F1 racing game, but it's not just racing around a flat track, there's loop-de-loops, wall-rides, huge jumps, etc. and it takes quite a bit of skill to be good. The game is made pretty much just for the online play. Quite a few people play online and it's a lot of fun. The reason for "Nations" in the title is because you play representing your country, and you get points for your country. There's also leaderboards for your country and for you province/state. I'm currently ranked 9th in points for Nova Scotia, Canada :P But not many Canadians play, as evident by the fact that Canada is ranked 25th~ in the world on this game (France and Germany are #1 and #2) http://www.trackmania.com/en/ Combat FTL
nomadmike
I always tune the inside of the car then if possible to design the outside I make it look very weak. By weak I mean Pink. Pink and the worst possible outside choices. One guy in Carbon thought my car looked like an Airplane. He laughed at me and said I wouldn't win. That pink airplane beat him. foolgool
Mario Kart Need for Speed Those happen to be my favorites. I love Nintendo graphics, but NFS' more realistic graphics make it worth my while, as well. I have Carbon. The code in my sig should say 1032 not 0132. jjrox32
Right now I rarely play anything that isn't a shooter or a shooter/rpg like S.T.A.L.K.E.R, but when I was younger I used to love Mario Kart: Double Dash (I dominated my neighborhood at it) and NFS: Hot Pursuit 2. The later NFS games have really sucked in my opinion. Underground was bad to me because they had no cop chases, Carbon was alright, but it felt watered down compared to HP2. Pro Street was just flat out bad. It just felt like a very generic racing game, with EA giving you the ability to buy the best cars in the game right off the bat for real life money :wall: I've also played a little bit of Forza 2 for 360. It was actually pretty fun, but I never truly got into it.

megakiller32
Mmm, Burnout is great. Especially Revenge, Traffic Checking ftw. I hear Grid is pretty awesome, but I haven't gotten the chance to experience it myself. Grid is great, except for me without a steering wheel loses some of its Zing. And the cars spin out too much. Sam
GRiD is great, you just need to get used to the steering. Definetly a rival to PGR4 & maybe GT5. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
Kaphias
Gran Turismo 4, by far the best racing sim/game I've ever played. Currently at about 97% of the game complete. I'm also the world record holder at Infineon Raceway, (stock car course) A real track that is situated in Napa Valley, California. 8,325th to 99 Firemaking 3/9/08 | 44,811th to 99 Cooking 7/16/084,968th to 99 Farming 10/9/09 | Runescaper August 2005-March 2010Tip.it Mod Feb. 2008-Sep. 2008 | Tip.it Crew Sep. 2008-Nov. 2009
OldJoe
I'm all for tuning the car and choosing some colours, but not the whole "pimp car" idea. I mean, i get a Trans Am from 64, i don't want to pimp it out to look awful lol. But i like racing games, both car and motorcykle. The one i'm playing atm is Test Driver Unlimited, nice game. GRID - tried 3-4 days without ever understanding the steering lol. The first racing game i ever played was.. hmm.. That i can remember, some racing game for one Amiga computer. Gran Turismo is probably one of the best racing series ever, and in games overall. Kiriyama
My favorites have to be NFS Underground 2 and Carbon. For some reason, I found some fun in designing the cars (and showed alot more skill than my mates at it). After I completed the games, I'd just go back and make new creations, just for the hell of it. Millard
The Gran Turismo series has to be the best for me, No, 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. Also really like NFS but ever since Most Wanted they've gone downhill imo, I thought Prostreet was so crap i took it back for a refund, hopefully Undercover will go "back to basics". The Runar
Crash Team Racing pwnz all! I'm in top 200 of the world (my rank is around 130 I think, but the site with the records in down right now...) I've played that game since 2000, and it ROCKS! Mario Kart seems to be good, I played it with my friend in school (the DS version). I guess I'll buy it. Burnout 3 is also really good, but the fourth game whatever it was called is bad.
