How is YOUR clan led?

Looking at all of the clans around RuneScape, they are led in many many different ways. How is your clan led? Is it led by one person? A group of people maybe? Or, is it led by a sort of council? What do you think about it?

Myself as Leader at the top, supported by a small group of generals (some of which carry the title Co-leader) who each have a specialty; Wars, Events, Recruitment, Tech, and Foreign Relations...

They can be supported by sub-generals, but this has not been the case now for a while (they're just so damn good at their jobs)...

Below that are a few people who are expert in their field; PK-ing, Merchanting, Skilling (even down to a specific skill on occasion)...

Below that we find the Battle Commanders, who are just normal members, but with the authority to take command of a pile and be (whats dubbed by JaGex as a) caller...

Thats basicly how our leadership structure has functioned since the clan was founded...

Former Leader of The Tal Shiar Alliance - An Original Tip.it Clan
Member of the Wilderness Guardians and Founder of the Silent Guardians
Founder of The Conclave - A Tip.it Clan institution
Tip.it Times author (click for all my articles) - When I use the wrong reasons to make the right statement, argue the reason, not the statement.
MSSW4 General - Did we kick your ass too?

The Death Monkeighs has 4 admins that run our clan site. I guess they would be considered the leaders...works out pretty good though, we have 175+ members with 109 av f2p combat, and we are so very active. so im guessing this way of having more than one "leader" is a good way to do things.

My old clan that I had founded, we had two leaders (myself and the other founder), a co-leader, and three council. We also had 5-10 'above senior ranked members' which also gave input.

Basically, you'd have people generating ideas, it would come to the council & leaders, would be discussed and refined, then would be discussed over with my self and the other founder. We both had entirely different views on everything through-out our entire time leading together, so nothing was ever 'yea ok, I like that, let's do it', it always took days to argue and fight over issues or suggestions.

Though, we didn't believe in Warlords, or Events Co-Ordinaters, or Application Managers, as if you aren't a lazy leader or council you can spend an hour or two and get practically everything done, with co-leaders picking up the slack that is left behind and doing their own work as well.

Our clan really didn't have an in-game thing of 'official pile starters or callers', people just attacked and formed piles almost naturally. The idea was to have minimal amount of ranks so everything could be done quickly, but precisely, and not have 30+ ranked people you need to know that are ego-maniacs, and have control issues. We had I think 7 or 9 people who really were people you needed to get to know to be a successful member, and it worked out well, and it kept a great community going.

Well I think the runescape part of our organization has two leaders- one supreme leader (Armybulder1) and one (perhaps two, but the other is so inactive I cannot tell what his current standing is) second in command (decebalus6). Below them are a bunch of "Loyal" members. The loyals are members of a user group by the same name. Many of them are old school members, and some appear to have seniority to others, although it is unwritten. Finally below them are the Starters- new members without much authority, but I do believe they get a voice none the less on certain matters (event polls for example).

On the board side of things we got 4 Admins. I lead the board as the Root Admin, taking council from the other 3. They are Armybuilder1, Nighthawk890, and Decebalus6. We would have other staff members, but right now their is simply no need for General Moderators, most if not all of our users know how to behave quite well.

My clan, Last Knights is led by a cruel and unusual dictator named kota. He forces all clan members to wear pink skirts and purple wigs and he slaps eveyone with fish. He forces everyone to clean the bathrooms, cut trees down with a herring, eat cabbage and buy him a shrubery for his birthday. When kota gets mad he turns into a gigantic 500 head dragon with duck wings and rains endless fried chickens on us while saying Ni. O the horrors of kota being our clan leader.

Tbh I have no idea how our clan is led.

You, sir, have potential.

In all of the several major warring clans I've been in, there's been a distinct hierarchy with leaders (usually three) at the top and a competent council right below them. Then you've got warlords, chat/forum mods, and possibly event/admissions people. Division of power is good; leaders overtaxing themselves is bad.

Faith is lead by 3 leaders (it used to be 1, but he retired from the clan), 2 High-Councils and 2 Councils. There used to be 2 warlords and an event leader, but now all wars and events are being organised by the current ranked people.

One leader, two co-leaders, two warlords, & two high council.

We have our founder, who still leads us after almost 2 years. She has a right-hand-man, and together they are the forum admins (Gold Star and Key in CC). Below them we have a council of 3-5 leaders who help make decisions and moderate the forums (Silver Star).

We also have our Events Team, 2 members each for p2p and f2p, and our Recruitment Team -- another 2 members -- of which I am a part of. These members get the Bronze Star in CC, and the Recruitment Team also helps moderate the forums, mainly so they can accept new applications.

This setup has worked well for a skilling clan of about 100 active members. Hope it helps!

Ixy and I started up our own clan 2 years ago, Golden Sun.

Before making Golden Sun we were both Leaders of a Top-10 clan, so we had a lot of experience already. But leading a clan or starting up your own is a whole different matter !!!

I feel I learned a lot more leading myown clan, taking my own decisions, having the rules and goals how I/we wanted it, is a whole better feeling then leading a clan who isn't yours. You are then usually stuck to their rules, their standards and habits.

Anyway Ixy and I are both Leaders of Golden Sun. Then we have 4 High Councils, each with their own tasks but they have also a global task. Then we have 2 Officers who lead wars and fights, 3-4 Event Moderators who organize fun events and 3 Forum Moderators who guard the forum and update stickied topics.

All our ranked people also have Op or Half-op on our IRC channel.

At first we did many tasks ourselves, but at one point there is just way too much work to do. Therefor we decided to take some Councils. They are very handy !!!

If one of these ranked people decide to go, we still have enough as a back up, so we don't need to start new rank applications. (Except for the Officer then, but in the Council we have a Commander + Leaders who can also lead these kind of events).

I'm very happy with our current Leadership, the tasks are being devided very well and the clan is working perfectly <3: (The really detailed info is posted on our forum) :D
